It's also worth noting that this brouhaha and hostage holding by the Tea Party assholes is only to extend funding for the government for 11 weeks.  They want to hold the rest of the country and 75% of the members of their own party hostage to their demands, and even if their demands are met, they're only going to extend funding for 11 fucking weeks.

John Boehner needs to be voted out of the position of speaker and be replaced by someone with some spine to stand up to these far right wing idiots.   He has the fucking votes to pass the clean Senate version, but he's not allowing a vote to appease the Tea Party idiots.

It will be a like short vacation for them.  The vast majority of them will be compensated for the time off.  THAT is also a risk they take when they are employed by the government.

You don't know what you're talking about. As a matter of fact there is NO guarantee that any of them will be paid.

Yeah. That particular comment I personally find infuriating.   (his. Not yours)

Yep!  Although that's generally been the case during previous shutdowns, I don't think you can take anything off the table with the current Tea Party obstructionists holding everyone else hostage (including their own party).

Exactly. And the sad thing is, each day they delay adds billions to the cost of "restarting" the government.

I must say though, it doesn't surprise me in the least that republicans, and conservatives in particular, do not care one bit about who is being negatively impacted by this bullshit.

They've held the unemployed hostage several times over the last 5 years, and continue to be chomping at the bit to slash every single social safety net in existence.

They've proven to be the good and faithful whores of corporate Amerika.

Yep, and in 11 weeks we'll be repeating this whole FUBAR situation.

Boehner and his ilk need to be summarily fired for breach of duty!

I read that it's impacting 800,000+ federal employees. I didn't realize that half of them are DoD. :spooked:

Lets just cut to the chase here,

The congress gave a bill to the Potus and senate to fund our entire government, with the exception of the ACA.  Yes, it is a law that was passed, but it is a BAD law.  At least many parts are.  It was not a landslide vote, it was strictly a party line vote.  The kicker for me, was when our Speaker of the House said, that we MUST pass this Bill before we KNOW what all is IN the Bill.....C'mon guys, THAT is not a healthy way to implement such a HUGE, life-changing Bill.  It is already costing jobs, and creating a growing mess.  I agree we MUST do something about our Healthcare, but we need some leadership to assure that EVERYONE gains something from it.
The way I see it, the way it stands, is nothing more than another ploy to redistribute money from one group and GIVE it to another.  It is also BAD for the economy.  Companies are already cutting back full-time employees to less the 30-hours a week to dodge something they cannot afford.
Lets call this thing a mulligan, and negotiate like we was supposed to do back in 2010.  No CLOSED door meetings like the democrats did back in 2009.   Most polls suggest that Americans are NOT in favor of this Bill the way it stands.  We let 60 Senators and 219 House memebers cram some outrageous sh!t into a bill, that is going to dramaticly change the HC for Amerians, and it seems as if it is NOT for the good.   Again, "lets pass it so we can SEE what all is in it"!!!   DAMN!
Premiums are skyrocketing and jobs are being cut.  This much we SEE.  This bull that we an keep our existing HC if we want is turning out to be nothing more than a lie.  Many companies can no longer KEEP the existing insurance.

Yes it IS a mess.

So, lets get our government BACK in business, and lets get this HC bill RIGHT.

Let start leading Mr. Obama, and do the RIGHT thing.

Yeah? Specifically, what's wrong with the healthcare bill? And why should this (these) issue(s) impact the immediate livelihood of hundreds of thousands of employees?

I'm guessing you won't get an answer for this.

For starters:

It will force all employers with more than 50 full-time employees, who work at least 30 hours per week, to provide health insurance for them or pay a $2,000 penalty for each employee after the first 30 workers.

Resulting in hiring part-time employees instead of full-time employees.  Don't you think this will impact the immediate livelihood of hundreds of thousands of employees?

If those employers were responsible corporate citizens, they would already be providing these benefits.  It's sad that the government has to step in and force them to do something they should be doing anyway.

You have health insurance with your job; don't you?  Why do you feel you deserve that and others don't?
