  After 8 years of George W. Bush's, Mitt Romney's and the Republican policies of shutting down our manufacturing plants either through bankruptcy, offshoring and outsourcing.  With their fast track free trade bills and fraud, railroading us into giving China and other foreign countries power over America and it working middle class people.  :rant:

The only words I have to say for this is, this is Pure Bullshit.  :azz:  This is not spinning!  Wake up America for the rich and powerfull has come for us.  :4th3:

Just ponder this.  If Romney had been at this time and Sandy the hurricane had hit the North East coast.  What  would have happened.  :gha:  He would have had shut down FEMA and left it the the states and private businesses.  :gha:

  But with FEMA and Obama the Army and Navy with their Helicopters, the Air Force with their big cargo planes, the National Guard, the Coast Guard with food and big pumps.  And on top of that there are two aircraft carriers and two destroyers of the new class just off coast with helidecks and copters pads and huge electrical generators to provide electrical power where needed.   :smitten:  :4th3:

  With Romney it would have looked like a fire in the hotel in a Kentucky and a pickup fire truck with two red necks to put out the fire with a hand pump.  :haha;  ;haha:

  And 47% of the Republican Sheeple think he's the "DICK" for the job.   :rant:  Only in the Middle East could you find this many fucking stupid people.  :trustme:  :groan:

Palehorse

Well, here we go. . .

. . .Sandy has flooded thousands of homes in its devastating path, and estimates are that damages will be in the billions of dollars. FEMA, which runs the federal flood insurance program, has to pick up the tab.
But FEMA already owes $18 billion to the Treasury Department, thanks to Hurricane Katrina. Currently, insurance experts say FEMA's flood insurance program has access to funds totaling $3.8 billion, much of it in loans.
If flood claims exhaust the fund, Congress may have to step in with additional taxpayer money. That will add to the already bloated national deficit, and anger fiscally-conservative members of Congress.
Private insurers don't cover flooding. Sandy's storm surge pushed water from the Atlantic Ocean into basements and first floors in coastal Virginia, New Jersey, Connecticut and New York, where subway tunnels remain flooded. . .

Anybody want to guess what is coming?  :rolleyes:  (The word "NO" comes to mind)

They set a precedent when they let those folks in the midwest swing after the tornado outbreaks and FEMA had no money; holding them hostage to their political ideals. (SOP for the repugnicans).  :mad:

I went to every PoliticFact source....they said

Quote from PolitiFact:

Quote from PolitiFact:
"We rate the statement False"

and I went to the rest of them........and one called Obama a "Liar, Liar Pants on fire"....NONE that I posted said it was true.

so back it up........I did.

. . .Whose sequester?

In the debate, Obama said he didn't propose sequestration, Congress did. (We asked the White House for comment, but didn't hear back.)

To determine the question of ownership, we turned to Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward's new book The Price of Politics.

Woodward's reporting shows clearly that defense sequestration was an idea that came out of Obama's White House. But the intention was to force Republicans to negotiate, not to actually put the cuts into effect.

Woodward summarizes the thoughts of the Obama team: "There would be no chance the Republicans would want to pull the trigger and allow the sequester to force massive cuts to Defense." Democrats, meanwhile, didn't want to see their favorite domestic programs cut.

As the negotiations proceeded, Republicans seemed to think the same thing.

"Boehner told the House Republican leadership and other key members not to worry about the sequester ... 'Guys, this would be devastating to Defense,' he said. 'This would be devastating, from their perspective, on their domestic priorities. This is never going to happen,'" Woodward wrote.
. . .

Clearly the blame lies squarely upon the shoulders of congress. In fact IIRC when this agreement was made I came right out and said that it was just as good as putting the sequester into place at that moment, for it is clear congress is going to do nothing.

Obama ad says Romney raised nursing home fees eight times in Mass.

. . .As backup for the claim about nursing home fees, the Obama campaign cited increases Romney implemented to the cost of state licenses for nursing homes of different sizes.

The fees increased on a scale according to the number of beds in each nursing home facility. They went up as follows:

• 1 to 30 beds, from $95 to $285;
• 31 to 60 beds, from $160 to $480;
• 61 to 90 beds, from $225 to $675;
• 91 to 120 beds, from $295 to $885;
• 121 to 150 beds, from $360 to $1,080;
• 151 to 200 beds, from $425 to $1,275;
• more than 200 beds, from $495 to $1,485.

In addition, Romney established a $9.60 per day user fee on nursing home beds not covered by Medicare. The money was meant to be returned to the nursing homes in the form of higher Medicaid reimbursement rates.

The Romney campaign acknowledged the fee increases on nursing home licenses but took issue with the "eight times" characterization. . .

7 times he raised the licensing fees, and once for the user fee. . . that = 8, but I can see their point. Still, it is partially true and not pants on fire lies.

. . .As John King of CNN framed his question to Romney, the audience applauded mention of Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona's Maricopa County, who is known for his advocacy of hard-line immigration policies. King said to Romney: "You've talked, governor, about self-deportation, if businesses do their job, asking for the right documents, the people will leave. But what about arresting? Should there be aggressive, seek them out, find them and arrest them as Sheriff Arpaio advocates?"

Romney answered, "You know, I think you see a model here in Arizona. They passed a law here that says that people who come here and try and find work, that the employer is required to look them up on E-Verify. This E-Verify system allows employers in Arizona to know who's here legally and who's not here legally. And as a result of E-Verify being put in place, the number of people in Arizona that are here illegally has dropped by some 14 percent, where the national average has only gone down 7 percent.". . .

Yes. A misinterpretation of a typically vague answer from Romney-occhio. But false. (NOT Pants on fire lie).

As for the "pants on fire Big Bird thing" - Who's spinning? That was an admitted over-simplification of the fact that Romney-occhio wants to eliminate funding for the Public Broadcasting System, which will in effect force them to reduce programming.

It would be more accurate to say Romney raised the licensing fee for seven levels of nursing facilities one time, in addition to the per-day bed tax. And all the fees were levied on the nursing homes themselves, not the middle class families struggling to afford nursing home care mentioned in the ad.

Both those elements of the statement are inaccurate and misleading. We rate it Mostly False.

Things Obama has accomplished since he took office:

1. The first bill President Obama signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, to help women fight back when they don't get equal pay for equal work.

2. His Recovery Act supported millions of jobs and helped to stave off a second Great Depression.

3. He pushed for and won middle-class tax cuts that benefitted every American worker, and saved the typical family $3,600 in taxes over the last four years.

4. President Obama rescued the auto industry, and now GM and Chrysler are healthier than they've ever been. The American auto industry has added nearly a quarter of a million jobs since June 2009 -- and they most likely wouldn't exist right now without President Obama's leadership.

5. He doubled funding for Pell Grants, helping to make college more affordable for nearly 10 million families.

6. His student loan reform ended billions in subsidies to banks serving as middlemen and reinvested those savings directly into students.

7. The President established the American Opportunity Tax Credit, worth up to $10,000 over four years of college.

8. His Race to the Top Initiative helped spur nearly every state to raise academic standards.

9. His tax cuts, social-welfare programs, and economic policies lifted nearly 7 million Americans above the federal poverty line in 2010.

10. President Obama has signed 18 tax cuts for small businesses since taking office.

11. We've seen 5.2 million new private-sector jobs over the last 31 months.

12. The unemployment rate is at the lowest level since President Obama took office.

13. Health care reform -- passed after decades of failed attempts by every previous President -- provides affordable health coverage to every American and will lower premiums by an average of $2,000 per family by 2019.

14. Obamacare expanded access to lifesaving preventive care such as cancer screenings and immunizations with no out-of-pocket costs for 54 million Americans.

15. Obamacare ends insurance discrimination against the 129 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.

16. Because of Obamacare, over 3 million more young adults have health insurance today than would if the new law hadn't passed.

17. The parents of over 17 million children with pre-existing conditions no longer have to worry that their children will be denied coverage.

18. President Obama has ordered the overhaul of federal government regulations to make them smarter, practical, and more efficient. Just a fraction of these commonsense initiatives will help save businesses $10 billion in the next five years alone.

19. His historic investments in clean energy have helped more than double the amount of electricity we obtain from wind and solar sources and helped increase biofuel production to its highest level in history.

20. President Obama is doubling fuel efficiency standards, which will save drivers more than $8,000 at the gas pump, not to mention lessen the impact of automobiles on our environment.

21. President Obama has taken unprecedented action to address climate change, reaching historic international agreements to curb carbon emissions, and taking action here at home to reduce carbon pollution from our vehicles and promote clean energy production.

22. He has taken historic action to protect our environment -- signing one of the largest expansions of protected wilderness in a generation and putting in place standards to reduce toxic air pollution that will save thousands of lives.

23. President Obama fought for and won landmark Wall Street reform that reins in the abuses that led to the financial crisis and ends the era of taxpayer bailouts and "too big to fail."

24. Wall Street reform created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the nation's first federal agency focused solely on consumer financial protection -- and the Bureau is already protecting families from unfair and abusive financial practices from Wall Street banks and shadowy corners of the financial industry.

25. As part of President Obama's commitment to transparency, the White House has posted its visitor records online for the first time ever.

26. President Obama's all-of-the-above approach to energy has helped cut the United States' dependence on foreign oil to its lowest level in 20 years.

27. President Obama responsibly ended the war in Iraq.

28. He announced a plan to end the war in Afghanistan and transition security responsibility to the Afghan people.

29. President Obama sent the largest security assistance package to Israel in history and funded the Iron Dome system, which is protecting Israeli homes and schools from rocket attacks.

30. President Obama rallied the international community to implement the toughest sanctions on Iran in history.

31. Through the President's historic increases in Veterans Affairs funding, he has expanded and improved healthcare and job training access for our returning veterans.

32. President Obama negotiated the New START Treaty with Russia to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in both countries. At the same time, he also secured commitments from dozens of other countries to lock down nuclear materials.

33. His administration naturalized 11,146 military service members as U.S. citizens in 2010; more than in any year since 1955.

34. President Obama set a bold new plan for the future of NASA space exploration, using the skill and ability of the private sector for short trips to the International Space Station, while building a new vehicle for exploration of distant space, and doing everything in his power to support the economy on Florida's Space Coast.

35. President Obama recognizes that tourism is one of America's largest economic engines; he's worked to encourage international visitors to come here, maintaining our security while keeping millions of Americans in good, paying jobs.

36. He has affirmed his personal support of marriage equality, directed the Justice Department to stop defending DOMA in federal courts, and took the practical and compassionate step of extending hospital visitation rights to same-sex partners.

37. He fought for and won the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, allowing gay and lesbian members of the military to serve openly for the first time in history.

38. When Congress failed to fix our broken immigration system, his administration did everything in its power to improve it, streamlining the legal immigration process and announcing a policy that lifts the shadow of deportation from hard working young immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

39. Oh, and he gave the order to send troops in after Osama Bin Laden -- and has decimated al-Qaeda's senior leadership.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.
