Pressed to explain Mitt Romney's tax plan, Paul Ryan ducks

Fox News' Chris Wallace pressed GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan on Sunday morning to try to explain how Mitt Romney's tax plan would add up. The conundrum is that Romney is proposing to lower all individual rates by 20 percent by targeting deductions for high-income earners, without putting the burden on the middle class or adding to the deficit—a plan the Tax Policy Center has shown to be "mathematically impossible."

The problem is, even one of the studies that Romney has cited to justify his plan—which Ryan refers to in passing above—shows that his tax plan won't work unless taxes go up for those making over $100,000, which Romney still counts as middle-class. Another study that the Romney camp cites, by Princeton's Harvey Rosen, uses implausibly optimistic assumptions about economic growth

Asking the Republican presidential ticket to explain how it plans to give a the massive tax cut to the rich while still balancing the budget and avoiding tax increases on the middle class is "laughable," Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell on Monday.

Oh, I look at it, I am still cautiously optimistic and take it with a grain of salt.   The Polls on Nov 6th are the ones that count, and where people will actually vote for who they want, and not who they want people to THINK who they wanted.

It is close, and we have some debates coming up.....that will probably start to paint a tad clearer picture.

Not avoiding it, the bottom line is that the revenues generated by the growth unleashed by the tax cuts will ultimately pay for the plan....it is a step of faith, that a leader must take.

I know this, the Obama plan will NOT increase revenue and will only drive our economy deeper in a recession....and that is what most economist are saying.

Oh, really? ....

Economists to Romney campaign: That's not what our research says

Each of these sections include supporting documents from independent economists. And so I contacted some of the named economists to ask what they thought of the Romney campaign's interpretation of their research. In every case, they responded with a polite version of Marshall McLuhan's famous riposte. The Romney campaign, they said, knows little of their work. Or of their policy proposals.

Why don't you try putting on here EXACTLY what he said?  Are you just making something up here?  THAT is what I mean by the liberal media...putting up half truths.  If I did what you just did YOU would throw a fit.

"Well, Andrea, first, that's a laughable question. Where's the president's plan? He's had four years. 23 million people don't have work. So let's start with that, the president's policies haven't worked."

then he went on to say...

The question is how do you get America back to work? What Paul Ryan just said on your clip is you, you flatten the base and increase the, I mean excuse me, you increase the — you reduce the number of deductions that are out there and you expand the base. That's typically what works. That can be done in a revenue-neutral fashion, I think that's what Paul Ryan has proposed, and what that does is make America more competitive.

It was the attitude that he thinks the question is laughable. As if "How dare you question it?"

And then he couldn't answer it. But he dropped a few hints ...

"you, you flatten the base and increase the, I mean excuse me, you increase the — you reduce the number of deductions that are out there and you expand the base."

Say goodbye to your home mortgage interest deduction.

I think it's laughable...well not really...it's kinda sad that the fact that he didn't answer the question, but rather tried to deflect from it by drawing her attention to something else is completely missed by Henry.

What Liberal media?  The only Liberal media the Liberals and the Progressives have is MSNBC and Current of cable and satilite TV.  Another smoke screen and another lie, a flat out lie, the only recourse the Republican Party has going for it lies  :lies: :lies: :lies: :lies: :lies: :lies: and more :lies:

The Republicans control 96% of the radio stations.  The control a 100 of the newspapers here in Indiana and probably 100% over the nation.  For who owns the newspapers?  Why it is corporations.  Republican owned newspapers.  Liberal New Media. :azz:

^^ This is something that Palehorse posted on another thread to describe those who would vote against their own economic best interests just to put the 'white' back in the White House.  Rather than to verbally define the word, perhaps a demonstration of the old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words," best serves the purpose.  And BTW, you can't tell from the picture, but his license plate expired in June.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your classic teabilly.

These kind of people are prevalent.  They're racist to the core, and anyone who would deny that is lying to themselves.

How this for a zinger and it didn't come from the Democrats.  WOW!   Ann Romney said that her main worry was Mitt's mental health.  WOW!  :dizzy2:  :cowboy: :choo: :choo:

Remember when Thomas Eagleton ran for Vice President on the Democrat Party.  When the Republicans found out that he had had a nervous breakdown.  WOW!  The Republicans drummed him out of the campaign.  :choo:  :choo:

And now we have Ann Romney worrying about Mitt Romney mental health :dizzy2: and the Republicans want to give him the Atomic Football and Commander In Chief of our mighty military.  WOW. :choo:  :choo:

I wasn't necessarily speaking of you but since you brought it up, sure you are this week, this month, this year...have you always?
