It is for them but not for HH and me.

What sources do you trust? Let me know and I'll find a reference to his magna cum laude from Harvard in one of your sources.

She wrote (and I quote) ...

I looked at the Wikipedia article, and unless it's a different article, they make no reference to excessive use of drugs, skipping class, hanging out with the rough crowd, and playing basketball constantly.

Please point me in the right direction.

BTW, that Wiki article I read said he graduated "with a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard in 1991" You don't do that by attending "class (college), sparingly"

Same article, you didn't read far enough.  It was in high school in Hawaii - not college.  It us under the heading "Return to Hawaii".

Help please. I can't for the life of me find a  heading "Return to Hawaii".

Perhaps you could paste the relevant quotes from the article?

Besides, 'me' specifically wrote "attended class, (college), sparingly,"

Yes, I have to admit I did say college, that's what I get for assuming,  but evidently it was high school.

Assume? Hell, you just flat out lied. Either that or you have the reading comprehension of a garden slug.

Here you go.

In his memoir, Obama describes his experiences growing up in his mother's middle class family. His knowledge about his African father, who returned once for a brief visit in 1971, came mainly through family stories and photographs.[33] Of his early childhood, Obama writes: "That my father looked nothing like the people around me—that he was black as pitch, my mother white as milk—barely registered in my mind."[9] The book describes his struggles as a young adult to reconcile social perceptions of his multiracial heritage.[34] He wrote that he used alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine during his teenage years to "push questions of who I was out of my mind".[35] Obama has said that it was a seriously misguided mistake. At the Saddleback Civil Presidential Forum Barack Obama identified his high-school drug use as his greatest moral failure.[36] Obama has stated he has not used any illegal drugs since he was a teenager.[37]

All the more proof that our president is indeed an exceptional person -- to grow up like that, and to pull himself up and away from it all and achieve all that he has is remarkable.

It makes a huge difference that he wrote about it himself -- in a book for everyone to see.

I read that. It's hardly the stuff that points to ...

Ya, I think someone who did drugs excessively, attended class, (college), sparingly, hung with the rough crowd, and played basketball constantly, (page 93 Dream From My Father), over that anytime.

now is it?

Besides, I would bet that anyone who has gone to college since the 60's and denies using drugs is either lying ... or they forgot.

George W. used cocaine and was a full fledged alcoholic.  How about that.

Not really, it was bound to come out and by putting it out there he defused most of sensationalism, simply a good political play. I haven't read anyplace where he says he got away from it by himself. I would be very surprised if he did, most people would need some kind of support system, perhaps his grandparents?

But Anne it's you that is going to have to vote for Romney a guy that is against everything your pipefitter husband made is living.  And what gave you such a good life.  You get some kind of kick bashing Obama.

What would Jesus say about your standing on the Republican Party.  I don't think, what I have read about him, would be happy.  :jc:

Well, since the book was published before he entered politics, and he had likely been working on it for years before that, I must say that it was probably a very good example of intelligent advanced planning.

Yep, just like it took advanced intelligent planning to create the "BIG BANG"  :haha:

Motivation comes from within. All the family support in the world can't help or change the mind of a person who succumbs to the lure of feel-good drugs.

There was an article a few days ago in the Washington Post about his mother and the positive influence that she and her parents had on Obama as he grew up, but his was one dysfunctional family by anybody's standards. If I can find it I'll post it.
