How many people not in the workforce or even in the workforce who haven't been in management would even know about something like that?  The question was asked in a generic term and I answered that way right down to the consumer.  The way a question is asked has a lot to do with the answer you get.  The very thing you're talking about is what makes Japanese companies work so well.  My step daughter worked for one and was well paid, given bonuses, ample vacation time, and shares.  She was also responsible for her own area and keeping her machine clean and running properly since she was considered part owner, small share of course, as well as employee.  She was valuable to the employer because she did her job and management was valuable to employer because it was managed well, employer was still valuable to employer and management because ultimately employer was furnishing building and equipment for them to be able to be of value to them.  Yes, I'm hard headed.
