And, might I point out, that despite the enormity of the fuel surcharge (road) taxation placed upon fuel, this state's roads are giving the backroads of Morocco a run for their money! 

Then lets take a look at where our infamous "wheel tax" funds are being spent. . . Le'me know when you find it because I sure don't see it!

And I have to laugh at the commentary of our police departments surrounding the plethora of accidents we've been seeing when the snowman poops around central Indiana. ". . . .motorists driving too fast for conditions. . ." Ah yes, the old catch-all. 

In prior winter seasons they blamed the cold for the fact that the "syrup" they now use wasn't doing the job that traditional salt does; but this year they have now switched to blaming drivers almost exclusively. I call BULLSHIT!

I have the great misfortune to have to drive home in the middle of the night and wee hours of the morning. It's a damn good thing I have a 4 x 4, otherwise I'd have been spending the night at work or in a ditch. There are virtually zero trucks out overnight, and not a grain of salt on the roads from Delaware county all the way through Madison. Yes, some of the roads I travel are secondary ones, but SR67 is the next best thing to I69, and the ONLY areas of bare road I have seen on nights when it snows, are those that run beneath I69. . .

According to more than 500 CEOs that considered a wide range of criteria, from taxation and regulation to workforce quality and living environment, they did thier annual ranking of the best states for business.


Then, I went to Wiki and got the list of which party was in control of those states....


They went like this:


Top 10 best states for business:
1. Texas - Republican controlled legislator
2. North Carolina - Republican controlled legislator
3. Florida - Republican controlled legislator
4. Tennesee - Republican controlled legislator
5. Georgia - Republican controlled legislator
6. INDIANA - Republican controlled legislator
7. Virginia - Republican controlled legislator

10. Neveda - Democrat controlled legislator

The 10 Worst States for Business:

  Isn't it amazing how Hawk worries about business and the super rich.  Like you said he don't give a damn about the hourly workers, poor and sick standard of living. 

  It's also interesting how these Republicans say they don't take any government dollars.  Well, I've been paying taxes since I was 16 years paid school taxes then and still paying school taxes now at 74.  I had one boy, when I look at it, Hell I been paying school taxes for the breeders.  Like 5 rugrats.

I wouldn't expect someone with no knowledge of business to understand but as Palehorse points out, what's best for business doesn't mean anything as far as quality of life for the people living there.  Florida, for example, might be a very good state in which to own a luxury car dealership and many of your customers would probably be medical professionals.  As that state has a disproportionately large percentage of elderly residents, much of the money that pays the medical professionals that buy those cars undoubtedly comes from Medicare payments.  Florida is a low-income, low-productivity state with a disproportionately large number of people receiving various forms of federal income support.  That money comes from higher-income, higher productivity states, most of which may not appear to be as business friendly according the the skewed data Henry presents but they will tend to be more liberal.
