We don't GIVE them anything, no $$$ is GIVEN to oil companies...........the subsidies is the same as many other business......it is "business expenses"....they get the same as most other companies, they just happen to make BILLIONS and BILLIONS.

I also did some interesting read regarding the oil company profits, they are at about 6 percent......The top non-alcoholic beverage industry stocks average more than a 14 percent net profit margin. Pharmaceuticals are near 17 percent. Apple's net profit margin is more than 20 percent.....what is GE's profit? GM's?.....

The bottom line is, that the Dems are merely trying to demonize BIG OIL....because they want everything GREEN, and until they control BIG OIL, they cannot continue with their agenda....Obama himself thought $5 bucks a gallon of gas would be GOOD for America....

I read that too. I also remember something about the subsidies too. That most if not all goods producing industries get subsidies but 'big oil' gets less than most buy about half. But 'big oil' is being targeted simply because it is a very visible target at the moment, especially coming up on an election year.

And you're right. Oil companies are being demonized in order to further the 'green' agenda. My biggest beef with all of this is the farce of 'ethanol'. This was supposed to be the end all, save all of oil dependency. HA!! What a joke. This stuff isn't much less than gas, it costs more to produce, uses a shitload of water and is driving up food prices.

Agreed.  Federal tax dollars needn't be spent on pregnancy termination/prevention.  By that token, they also needn't be spent on subsidizing those who decide not to prevent or terminate their pregnancies either so I expect you to do the right thing, Henry, and stop claiming your children as exemptions on your taxes.  Oh yeah, and you'll want to go ahead and enroll them in private schools at your own expense as well because I don't want my taxes paying for that either.  See how easy this is?  If everyone just quits asking for handouts, we can get this deficit thing under control in no time!  The problem is that no, Henry, you won't quit claiming your kids as exemptions and you won't quit sending them to public schools because people like you are only willing to cut the costs of the things that other people want or need.

The bottom line is we GOT to quit a whole bunch of spending......I know we have obligations, but a time has come to where we must prioritize....plain and simple.

Didn't they also find out that it was a worse pollutant than gas when it was tried in the 70's.

  I don't pay anywhere near what you paid in taxes since I have been retired.  Hell, I have to pay taxes on my Social Security with the money I had already paid taxes on.

   But when I was making around $80,000 a year 15 years ago, I feel I paid my fair share.  I have never bitched about paying taxes.  But I did everything everything my CPA told me to do to avoid, legally to avoid paying taxes.  That way we have tax laws.  I never made the money the Super Rich made and only had to pay 15%.  I paid way over that.

  I get so sick of hearing Henry about the countries debts.  Like it is on his shoulders.  He sure don't pay very much towards it.  Let us make the people who made all of the riches off the backs of the American.  Cutting taxes isn't going to do it.  We just got to take in more money than we spend and we are going to have to have tariffs of foreign good.   One of them is not giving the oil companies Billions of dollars.  Wake up Henry. <-- Henry.

but what if one of those little liabilities (as you call them) becomes mathematician, who can implement a mathematical conjecture that will optimize our societal structure by optimizing the thermodynamics of a set group of earthly citizens and generate a statistical calculation, that will free up all burdens we now face? .....  just sayin.
