Hey Troll,

I negotiated Master Contracts against management for 11 years.

Was on strike 4 times. Arrested twice.

Just goes to show how little you think.

You can't tell the difference between someone who thinks you're an ass and someone who is offering some thoughts about people skills.
Ignorance and fanaticism are ravenous. They require constant feeding.

You know working as a plumbing contractor and water softener dealer and made some good money at it.  I do think I have good people skills.

But, I still don't know why you couldn't make as a prison guard.  That doesn't take any people skills.

I'm sorry but I have to ask...why would you assume that someone who didn't choose to stay with a particular line of work "didn't make it"? Lots of people opt to try different career paths generally because they perceive it to be a better opportunity.

FTW strikes me as someone who chose to switch career paths for the same reasons I would. Curiosity and Growth. If a job doesn't offer me the opportunity to learn and doesn't provide a challenge, then I don't want it. For me, it's about more than just paying the bills. I'm good at every job I do. I've never left an employer that was happy to see me go or because I couldn't do the work. Maybe FTW is the same way.

Sandy, I won't begin to answer for Troll but when my husband and I were growing up it was expected to find a job and stick with it until you retired or died. If a person changed jobs a lot they either couldn't do the work or couldn't get along with the boss. Things have changed a lot since then. IMO that is why a lot of younger people don't understand about pensions and SS.

They you go, just piling on.  Can't you see I'm just making an over blown and misstatement about him like he makes about me.  I think if he meet me eye to eye and talked to some of the people I worked with for years and the people who voted for me when I was a Democratic Precinct Committeeman for 8 years.  I think he would look through different eyes.

But, until then, jab for jab.  Insult for insult.      Let the battle continue.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that. Movement is made easier w/the flexibility of 401Ks. Although I don't know why that would prevent younger people from understanding SS.

Sometimes you leave a job because your wife fears for your safety because of your clients.

Sometimes you are recruited to other jobs and offered very lucrative positions to leave your current occupation.

Sometimes they are simply temporary positions.

BTW, as a corrections officer/classification officer/counselor I was awarded Employee of the Month honors twice.

I guess it is because when we older ones were growing up and in our working adult years we were told that it would be there and a lot of us believed it and paid into it, for many years the maximum amount, that some or many of us have a different view of it. Maybe a better way to say what I meant was that younger people don't understand why we older people (generally speaking) figured SS into our retirement plans.

I don't blame you at all for giving up a prison guards job.  I have been watching some of the shows of prison life on MSNBC, damn, put inside of those cell with no protection, unarmed and lone.  Hoping that if something happens help will come before they cut your throat.

I also can see why you would get employee of the month, with the compassion you seem to have.  Compared with those bully apes they call prison guards.  I'll bet it could be difficult working with some of these people.

I see what you're saying. I'm not a kid and not a boomer, somewhere in between and I've heard since I was a kid that SS won't't be there foe me by the time I'm old enough to collect it. I don't know if it will or not, but it isn't even part of my plan.

Unless you are able to do without cars, houses, boats, clothes, jewelry, trips, eating out everyday and many other things that people enjoy.  Plus saving until it really hurts.  Most people will not have enough money saved up to live the rest of their lives when they retire.  Unless they die pretty quick and the bankers and the stock brokers are probably working on that.  Especially if you invest it in the stock market.  You almost have better odds in Vegas.

There is no way people living on the minimum wage will be able to put back enough money.  Social Security or something like it is the only thing that will work for the common person.  Would  you people just look at how many people who would have NOTHING if is wasn't for Social Security.  No money without Social Security and no health without Medicare.

The American people has been sold a whole load of horse shit about Social Security not working and the greatest thing since sliced bread is private accounts.  With CDs paying 1.25% on a 25 year plan, dog poo is worth more.  The banks and the stock market and the Republican Party is really playing the American people for real fools and real big suckers.  But no one seem to really look at it or really care.  It's all bullshit.

With the rich and the Republicans trying to destroy medicare all it will take is one medical sickness to deplete all of the money you have saved.  The Republican Party know this and this why I hate them.  :knife:  WISE UP AMERICA. :flag: :salute:
