No. . . it won't. . . And locally work one is telling those receiving unemployment compensation via a federal extension, that their funds will expire December 12th regardless of what tier they are in, and regardless of whether there are funds remaining within the current tier they are in or not, unelss congress passes another extension. . .

Then there is this:

The nation’s workers may be struggling, but American companies just had their best quarter ever.

The New York Times. . .

American businesses earned profits at an annual rate of $1.659 trillion in the third quarter, according to a Commerce Department report released Tuesday. That is the highest figure recorded since the government began keeping track over 60 years ago, at least in nominal or noninflation-adjusted terms.

you are right it is f'd up..............why the hell can't the DEMS find a way to pay for this.............SERIOUSLY!!

THE DAYS OF WRECKLESS SPENDING HAS GOT TO STOP.............Now when we really need to spend it on something worth while we have to play this stupid game..........except it is not a game.

I see this as 100% a democrat issue to fix....................CUT spending somewhere and do it now!!!

So now you know more than the Commerce Department?????

. . .Corporate profits have been doing extremely well for a while. Since their cyclical low in the fourth quarter of 2008, profits have grown for seven consecutive quarters, at some of the fastest rates in history. As a share of gross domestic product, corporate profits also have been increasing, and they now represent 11.2 percent of total output. That is the highest share since the fourth quarter of 2006, when they accounted for 11.7 percent of output.. .

Sounds to me like you had better start looking for another position with another company right now, before you join the ranks of the unemployed and get some more first hand experience you would rather not have!

That's exactly what the republicans want you to see, and its why you see it that way. It's bullshit political posturing that stands in the way of this issue, and that is all.

So tell me, what is the republican responsibility in this issue? Nothing? Where is their funding plan??? Why haven't they got it passed?

If we demand that this bill extending unemployment be held up until congress agrees upon a funding solution for it, then you might as well take a gun and blow your brains out now. If even 10% of those being cut off are forced out of their homes because of this, that will equate to 200,000 more foreclosures and empty homes. And thats just in the next week. SUBSTANTIALLY more will follow for every DAY they delay the passage of this extension. And just how do you see that as any kind of constructive solution to this country's economic crisis????

It isn't a solution, it is part of the fricking problem! And it is only going to get worse, as the dominoes in that line begin toppling; local and state revenue streams will begin shrinking proportionately as those homes begin falling off the tax roles, equating to even higher property tax rates as costs contiunue to rise out of control.

Fund the fucking bill and move on with the cutting elsewhere god dammit, and do it NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile corporations continue to amass record level profits and with it an increasing level of power in our governance thanks to the SCOTUS extending INDIVIDUAL constitutional rights to them and allowing them to spend those profits buying the votes of our congresspersons. And the working class individuals continue to lose any "power" as their savings, retirement, and 401K accounts are being raided in order to try to stay alive and in their homes. And in this coming spring the government is going to experience the fruits of their posturing, as those same working class individuals are unreasonably taxed on the money they had to withdraw from those accounts, and discover they are now unable to pay it!

Despite the old saying shit does indeed roll uphill at times. And by the time it does and our congress realizes its mistakes, it will be too late for millions of families. . . far too late!

Man, you just do not get it, but you will if your previous post about the company you work for is truthful. (Not saying it isn't or is). Once you join the unemployed you'll get some real first hand experience that you will not like, and I hope you don't. But it appears you are lacking the ability to see things from a working class individuals perspective, divorced from the political rancor.

I am appalled at the vanity of the current congress and those supporting their demands to fund unemployment extensions, which amounts to nothing more than yet another raping of the unemployed and downtrodden (through no fault of their own). And all for NOTHING more than political posturing.

The long term costs of not passing this bill and passing it now will pale in comparison to the current costs of doing so. BUt they do NOT care about that, they will stand on their political position and demands no matter what the social, economic, and quality of life price. It doesn't impact them!

I have family and friends who are without a job right now....I care deeply about them, and I hope and pray I do not end up there myself.....but, if we don't fix this country the way it needs to be fixed, there are going to be much, much more unemployed.

I DO get PH, we obviously have do not see eye to eye on this, but it could NOT be any clearer what we need to do...and to hell with repub and dems.........we are ALL Americans, and as AMERICANS we got to start doing what is best for this country.

I sure as hell do not trust our government to keep on making themselves larger and larger........THAT is not what our constitution was there for.

the old saying that government is not the solution to the problem it IS the problem....has never held more truth than it does now....

did you watch the attached video?...............right there is why we have a problem right now.....and it is DEMOCRATS who are instigating all of this.

plain and simple...

The reason congressmen work like hell to get pet pork projects for their constituents is to help reassure their re-election.

Now, read this verrrrrry carefully: It is NECESSARY for them to do this if they want to get re-elected. (For the doubters, see Byrd, West Virginia)

Solution that has been suggested: Elect someone with no connections in Washington and no due bills that anyone can collect from them.

Problem: As soon as they get there, these new fish immediately find that they can't do a damn thing by themselves, so they start forming alliances (see "Survivor") in order to deliver for their constituency.  VOILA! We're right back to square one.

It is inherent in the system. People elect those who return things (read: money) to their districts, because the constituency is selfish enough to demand that they are taken care of before the rest of the U.S.

I am very cynical about the lack of tact, respect, and altruism not only among our elected officials, but more deeply among the "average American public."

It is getting worse, not better.

Ignorance and fanaticism are ravenous. They require constant feeding.

Here's a picture that might help you put things into perspective. It represents 15 months of job applications and resumes being sent out. Each sheet in that pile is a printout of a position applied for, and each one of those positions were well within my education, and 24 years of experience.  You know how many calls I got related to those applications? 4. You know how many interviews I got in connection with those applications? 2! 2 in 15 months!

College education and 24 years of experience, and nothing! (And by the way, half the pages in that stack are printed BOTH sides, so they represent 2 separate job applications) If you don't believe it, stop by the house. I'll let you examine them!

PH, have you tried getting a job out of your field.  Someone with brains that you appear to have and skills in many fields of life.  You might find something else to do until the job market gets better.  I had a good old man tell me many years ago the best time to find a job is when you have one.  Having any job is better than sitting home and getting old and moldy.

My son change work fields and just loves his new job.  He isn't to happy with the pay, but if thing happen the way things seem to be going he might be the new maintenance manager.

Yup, pharma, automotive, paper, even retail stores. I have tried most of them out there right now. Even the new companies like Brevini wind and the new automotive and their suppliers. . . Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing!!!!!!! I've even widened my range to within 75 miles of the home I am living in.

Those of you who are basing your political position on this issue based upon the false logic that everyone unemployed is just a lazy asshole living off the government tit can kiss my white ass! I look every day, 7 days a week, and apply for every job I think I am qualified for; even if they are outside my historic industry. And I know 150 other individuals here in Madison county and Delaware county just like me; who've been looking desperately for any job they can do and finding nothing but crickets. . . They've got stacks like the one I posted here and some of them even larger, with the exact same results. . . Shit.

And there are 90,000 Hoosiers across the state in the very same boat as we are. 90,000 houses at risk for dropping from the revenue stream, and at minimum 9,000 of them about to be put out onto the streets with all their possessions.

When I get tossed out of my house I am going to take my tent and camping gear, load them in my truck and spend my last dime to fill my tank with enough fuel to get to capital hill; where I will set up camp and freeze to death or die right under the nose of those fucking bastards that are doing this to 25-40 million of my fellow American families.

I will eat whatever I can find, and shit and piss on the steps leading to congress each and every single day until they lock me up and feed me, or I die.

If they want to pretend like we do not exist and do not count, I will make them see what their bullshit political posturing is doing to real Americans, and not the hogs feeding at the troughs of government!!!!!! And I will encourage every single one of those 25-40 million families to join me in doing so.

Wonder what they'll do then??? Nothing, as usual. But at least they'll have to bury us to keep our putrefying corpses from infecting their lazy asses with some form of disease!!!!!!! BASTARDS!

No. . . let's give them individual constitutional rights, let them financially endorse any candidate they want with no restrictions what so ever, thereby buying their own legislation and creating their own regulation with the record setting profits they wring out of the slave labor compensated workforce they hire, and steadfastly erode the power of the citizen in favor of the corporation! . . . oh wait. . . we're already doing that. . .
