The Troll

I think that all doors on a school open to the kids and people need a metal detector.  Screening all people who come into the school can't bring guns or knifes into the school.  It would be a little less in cost then having a cop at every door.  'But I think that there should be one armed cop in each school who is trained to take out a gunman.  This would be with lethal shooting to kill the gunman.

The kids should be aware that they will be killed if they would attempt to shoot anyone.  Make it clear and to the point that you will be killed if you try to kill anyone else at school.    :rifle:   :skull:

The reality of the world we are living in now is far removed from what  some  of us here grew up in so it's hard to compare now with then. Principles? They matter and are learned young. Like the sign in a pediatrician's office: "Children learn what they live." I got my values from going to church and from my parents. And from books. I learned the delight of books at a very young age.

As for church, I remember well the Methodist Church on the hill across the road from where we lived in the little coal mining town until I was almost through the 5th grade. I don't remember my parents going all that often, but I do remember going by myself and one specific delight -- when I figured out how to read the psalm book.

I haven't gone to church in a long time, but am considering trying it again -- because of people like Donald Trump. Where I live the people in a big Catholic church and the Methodists join in feeding and otherwise aiding the poor. I think about trying them out -- there are churches everywhere here (I live in close proximity to Washington, D.C.).

The best boss I've ever had (a Navy Commander who left the military to take a civilian job in the Pentagon) is a practicing Catholic.

When are the liberal bastards in Washington going to quit playing games about gun control and pass a REAL law that will protect our kids.

Uh, last I heard, conservatives control both the House and the Senate as well as the White House.  What have they done on this issue?

As an aside, a friend of mine who is a Sgt. with IMPD was awakened by a call Friday morning from his wife who is a teacher at this school.  He was up, dressed and at the school in 16 minutes...from Cicero!  I can only imagine the range of emotions going through his mind during that trip.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

Isn't it amazing how everything going on in Washington DC with Trump and congress is Obama's and the Democrat's fault.  :haha:  :haha:  :haha:

There will never be a wholesale ban on guns in this country and any sensible person acknowledges that.  You can't put that toothpaste back into the tube.

I agree, then why do the keep on advocating more and more laws wanting to restrict certain weapons....Both sides need to get serious about real laws to protect our kids...something that will, indeed, protect our kids. Enough of the hyperbole crap....

Because there is no good reason why weapons and ammunition designed for military use should be readily available to the public.  As i've said before, the simple solution is to reclassify them as class 3 with the same ownership requirements we currently have for fully automatic weapons and silencers.  No laws need to be changed and anyone who is a sane, law abiding citizen can still have one if they want one badly enough to go through the process.  That, of course would not have prevented the Noblesville or even the Santa Fe school shootings but given the number of mass shootings in which these types of weapons are used and the severity of the casualties, I think some better controls are warranted.

So what would have prevented the Noblesville or Santa Fe shootings and how can we effectively prevent kids from having access to guns?

I'm not against that idea.....but, I'm saying we need REAL action and put armed, well-trained guards & metal detectors in our schools.  I think THAT is the best way to prevent these things from happening.  Why isn't this being introduced by either party?

The problem with armed, well-trained guards is that they become complacent over time.  People whose job it is to guard high-level U.S. dignitaries (Secret Service, CID, etc.) are rotated between those and other duty assignments for exactly that reason.

One of my duty assignments as an MP in Germany was to man a metal detector at the V Corps USAREUR Headquarters in Frankfurt.  During peak traffic times, long lines form at these check points because at least half of the people going through the scanners set them off and have to be pulled to the side and manually scanned with a wand.  All that accomplishes at a school is moving the opportunity to shoot at a large group of people out into the open in the parking lot.

I'm not sure what the right answers are.

You would think we would have a more sophisticated system than we did when you was in the service....if not, maybe THAT is where we need to direct our energy and research.

Hey, is that a shot at my age?

Maybe so because the one I go through when I enter the state government center looks almost exactly like the one I used almost 40 years ago.

The YMCA in Fishers Ind. change locations of their Life Guards every 15 minutes.  They can't get bored doing a change that often, around and around they go.

Nearly 50 percent of Californians say they want to move out soon

Yep, as they move out more will replace them and where they go the property prices will go up.  It always happen that way.
