The news is about what Pew reported.

Not what that artcle says at all.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

In what way can Canada remotely be compared to the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts?  Do they lob rockets at us? Have they threatened to wipe us from the face of the earth?  Are they terrorists?  Fill me in please.

I think the POTUS's example was to demonstrate how diplomacy can be used to avoid those types of circumstances. No, Canada does not do those things to us. But they could should they be so inclined. So could Mexico. And that was his point.

You guys latch onto the single word or phrase that sends you into an emotional storm and cannot see anything else. You really ought to learn how to control such immature behaviors!

What you are missing is the fact that Canada and the US never had the bad relations they do over there and are totally different in the way they think.  Neither the US or Canada have tried to suppress the other, take their land, or killed their citizens. It is not as easy as Obama seems to believe it is and had he not been talking to a hand picked audience he may have found that out.

Still no comparison.  What don't you understand about terrorist?  Do you really think they can be talked into playing nice?  Are you really that gullible?

As I have stated innumerable times over the years here; we fail to learn the lessons of history and keep repeating them. The above quoted statement is a primary example of this.

In the War of 1812, the United States took on the greatest naval power in the world, Great Britain, in a conflict that would have an immense impact on the young country's future. Causes of the war included British attempts to restrict U.S. trade, the Royal Navy's impressment of American seamen and America's desire to expand its territory. The United States suffered many costly defeats at the hands of British, Canadian and Native American troops over the course of the War of 1812, including the capture and burning of the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., in August 1814. Nonetheless, American troops were able to repulse British invasions in New York, Baltimore and New Orleans, boosting national confidence and fostering a new spirit of patriotism. The ratification of the Treaty of Ghent on February 17, 1815, ended the war but left many of the most contentious questions unresolved. . .

. . .In order to strike at Great Britain, U.S. forces almost immediately attacked Canada, then a British colony. American officials were overly optimistic about the invasion's success, especially given how underprepared U.S. troops were at the time. On the other side, they faced a well-managed defense coordinated by Sir Isaac Brock, the British soldier and administrator in charge in Upper Canada (modern Ontario). On August 16, 1812, the United States suffered a humiliating defeat after Brock and Tecumseh's forces chased those led by Michigan William Hull across the Canadian border, scaring Hull into surrendering Detroit without any shots fired. . . .

. . . British forces raided the Chesapeake Bay and moved in on the U.S. capital, capturing Washington, D.C., on August 24, 1814, and burning government buildings including the Capitol and the White House.

On September 13, 1814, Baltimore's Fort McHenry withstood 25 hours of bombardment by the British Navy. The following morning, the fort's soldiers hoisted an enormous American flag, a sight that inspired Francis Scott Key to write a poem he titled "The Star-Spangled Banner." . . .

And we fail to learn the lessons of history despite a daily reminder of it within our national anthem.

And then there was the Mexican-American War. . .

The Mexican-American War (1846-1848) marked the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil. It pitted a politically divided and militarily unprepared Mexico against the expansionist-minded administration of U.S. President James K. Polk, who believed the United States had a "manifest destiny" to spread across the continent to the Pacific Ocean. A border skirmish along the Rio Grande started off the fighting and was followed by a series of U.S. victories. When the dust cleared, Mexico had lost about one-third of its territory, including nearly all of present-day California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. . .

What do you not understand about the term? I understand enough to know that this country is founded with its roots deeply seated in a form of terrorism.

I also know my own flesh and blood has spent a decade fighting terrorists within the confines of this nation and abroad.

What do you not understand about there is no compromise with the terrorists it's there way or no way.  That makes your whole thing totally different and an apples to oranges comparison.  You can spin, twist, change, and elaborate any way you want the people are different.  You can play nice all you want with them and they only see that as a weakness and will laugh and lop off your head while doing it.

And "Americans" have done the same to Mexicans, Native-Americans, and Canadians during those wars.  How do you not see that?

The only difference is the passage of time and the supposed progression of civilization.

How do you not see the irony in states like Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico passing draconian immigration legislation that is aimed toward hispanics?

Whatever it is it must be the same thing that prevents you from seeing the analogy of the POTUS. . .

Why do you refuse to see the difference?  I suppose you have suddenly also taken on the viewpoint that the US is responsible for some other countries hating us and we are terrorists.  Well, when Sharia law comes here don't be surprised.
