You know, that's what gets me with all of the people who you see screaming on Facebook, and other online venues like this forum, about Obama being a socialist.  They don't have a fucking clue what socialism is.  If you asked any real socialist if they thought Obama was one of them, they would clearly tell you that he isn't.

Where you're going awry there is that you shouldn't be asking "what it means to you" to Troll, Ex, or anyone else.  That's probably one of the biggest problems we have going on in this country.  Everyone is basing ideas and debate on what "they think it means" rather than on what it is.  It's like Y said one time, it's difficult to have a reasonable debate with anyone if they can't agree on basic concepts like the definitions of words.

Usually a conservative trying to brand anyone who is to the left of them as a baaaaaad person; hence, a little tweak on "socialist" gets them lots of mileage.

The only thing that stops them is if a person who understands socialism and communism happens to be there and calls them out on it.

Usually, the jerks choose programs where they are not likely to encounter someone who will correct their half-assed commentary.

And, usually, the commentators are the ones who do not have the credentials intellectually to make the points -- they have gotten by on their looks and bullshit.

Socialism is just government control of everything, to a lesser degree than communism, with the intent of making sure everyone is dependant on them for everything.  They convience you that they can spend your money better than you can and by the time you realize that isn't so it's too late because you're already giving them most of it.

  Even Communism was perverted in Russia.  The Russian Communist ran the country just like a predatory capitalistic state.  The member of the Communist Party (the super rich and entitled people) got all of the gold of the country while the workers got the shaft.  Just like here in America.  Baby Cakes.

At this point we still have our freedoms at least and can, to some degree, disagree with our government.  Of course those who do are subject to character assassination and being called names but we still can.
