and THAT kind of attitude is what is going to drive us OVER the cliff.............remember Troll, America decided to KEEP republicans IN CHARGE of the House.........for a reason.

Basicly, NOTHING was changed by this election.......we have the same old shit.  Except we now have MORE conservative Governors to keep things going on a positive wave.

Hey, if we go over.......it is OBAMA's fault....I think that is what he REALLY wants too........he needs Americans to WANT government to save them.

After the gerrymandering done by the Republican control states, insuring safe seat for Republicans you still lost some seats.  But Sweetheart, the American are beginning to catch on to you lying SOBs.  If you dummies drive us over the cliff, I can't wait until 2014 and we're going to kick your asses out of the House.  Just watch and I'll take your bet on that to, Skippy.

Hey, it is the democrats cliff..........if they don't want to go over it, it is up to them.  Remember one thing, we don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem.  Let's fix the problem, not add to it.

How is a bill passed by a Republican Congress while holding an increase in the debt ceiling hostage the Democrats' cliff?  Put down the crack pipe.

The republican congress offered the Pelosi Plan.......raise taxes on incomes over a million dollars..........the WH shot it down.

I think obama WANTS to go over the cliff.

But Henry, who has caused the em-pass.  Why it's the Republicans blind actions to protect the rich over the rest of the 98% of the American people.  And that includes you.  Think about it a little.

Palehorse

Obama, who had stood steadfast at the threshold of $250,000, on Monday offered Boehner a package which would raise rates on household income above $400,000. The president also offered ground on cuts to discretionary federal government spending. His initial offers had included no cuts; his latest offer cuts $200 billion, divided evenly between defense and non-defense programs.

The bottom line is if we go over it will be the GOP's fault and the majority of sane and critical thinking Americans will see it that way.

The GOP is all but dead, and should we do a swan dive over the cliff their death is secured. It would be in their best interests, and the best interests of the majority of American citizens, if they'd get this deal done and move forward.

That is just a matter of opinion Troll..............Many Americans believe that we HAVE enough money, we just spend too much.  Obama does not have a mandate on this or the repubs would have lost the house.  They didn't.  I think Obama must show that he is willing to negotiate or he will own this economy 100%.

Personally, I think they are merely playing a game at our expense.  There will be a deal done, taxes will go up.....but I don't see any spending cuts being seriously talked about, and THAT is going to fall on the dems.

Americans WANT cuts!

. . .
Americans WANT cuts!

If they wanted cuts then the GOP would have won the presidential election; but they did not.

The fact is, the GOP wants to do nothing but hack all of the social safety nets to pieces; including those designed to support folks that have no health-care, job, or home.

Think about it Hank. The very thing you support over in the Sandy Hook topic, a state/federal program to provide support for families of the mentally challenged, is something the GOP would scrape off the bottom of their shoes as if it were dog excrement. You know it and I know it. Why? Because it consumes revenue rather than generate it.

The GOP has held social safety nets, including unemployment, hostage innumerable times over the last 4 years; and they're doing it again at this very moment. Millions of the unemployed are facing the receipt of their last paychecks on January 7th, unless a federal extension is approved. Many of them have only become unemployed within the last 6 months, while an even larger group has remained unemployed over a year. The majority of them through no fault of their own.

Think about that. How will you feel when it happens to you? How will you feel to be able and willing to work and being unable to obtain employment despite 2 decades or more of experience and a 4 year college degree? How will you like being told you "aren't looking hard enough and need to take a minimum wage job", when you look for hours each and every day? Did you really work your way through college to take a 9 dollar an hour job with no benefits?

That is EXACTLY what the unemployed are being told at the state Work One offices in the state of Indiana. I have heard it straight from the mouths of a dozen people who have been summoned to their offices within the last two weeks, under threat of withholding of the unemployment funds they have remaining. And all of them are being informed that come January 7th, "that's it. There will be no more money."

PH, gutting it not what the repubs want.........they want reform.  I know for a fact, that some, not all, a few perhaps, but they will NOT take a job as long as they can get an unemployment check.
I think you are wrong too, not all social programs are bad, and many, not all republicans, understand the significance of them.  They see the abuse and the fraud that has overtaken them.  THAT is part of the entitlement reform.

The presidential election was much closer than many realize....and the house did stay GOP...if amerians wanted to more spending they would have thrown out the gop in the house....the didn't.  The GOP won more governorships.........the GOP is not dead, but I agree they needs to be some changes.

As far as unemployement, just how long should a person be able to collect?  I believe we are now at 99 weeks.

I know I am jumping around here, but I think a program such as we were talking about to house the mentally disturbed could be a "savings" by stopping the problem before it does cost lives.

I think too many democrats have sterotyped the republican party for something it is not........I know I don't hate poor people, I want them to have the same opportunity to work as anybody does.  So does most of other republicans I know.  We just want the corruption removed from the entitlement mentality.

Listen, I know you and others are going to dismiss everything I said, and start with teaching a pig to dance bullshit.

I'm telling you how it is from a conservatives point of view.....and it is about half this country.
