How pathetic.  Just when I thought there was hope for the US.  Don't we look silly, enough?

Most Americans believe God is involved in their everyday lives and concerned with their personal well-being, though the well-educated and higher earners are less likely than their counterparts to believe in such divine intervention, a new study suggests.

I don't know about Dan, but for me it isn't what they believe insomuch as their attempts to force those beliefs upon everyone, and abject refusal to even consider another perspective on the subject! Especially when it comes to the governing of the country, the states, and the cities of this country, as well as the legislating of laws and policies that incorporate aspects of this personal belief thing. . .

If you are going to attempt to force your beliefs upon me to the point where it becomes a question of law, then you had better be prepared to seriously consider an opposing perspective.

Because with the vast majority, it doesn't end just there.

It truly doesn't end with them "just believing".  First, they try to affect everything in our society, from textbooks to sundee blue laws. Second, they vote and have no basis in reality on how they vote.  We get the gov't we deserve and I don't think I deserve the gov't they bring in.  The very fact that somewhere in gov't someone is debating over a Constitutional Amendment to declare that marriage is between one man and one woman is the result of the majority thinking god is in everything.  I won't list ALL the other examples of the stupidity that ARE THEIR beliefs.

Just "faces in the clouds" and our inherent attempt to see people, everywhere and in everything.  A primitive genetic holdover when our survival depended on it.

You know, my mother was a born again Christan.  Church every Sunday.  Sunday school, bible school.  She burnt my sisters and I out.  The best thing that happened to me was when I got my car at 16 teen and I had a Sunday job to keep it.  Working at a greenhouse delivering flowers and potted plant to the Churches early Sunday mornings.

  I can remember mother who was a member of the prayerchain, when some was sick, hurt, dieing.  My mom would call members of the church about it and they in turn would call another member.  They would light up the telephone system in our little town of Lapel, Indiana with these calls.  They would all pray and I never saw anyone who was old and dieing life saved.

  She also belonged to the Christian service guild.  The attendance was really good.  She made me stay in my bedroom while the women of the church were there.  I could not have any for their goodie treats until the women were gone and only if there were any treats left.  Most times they ate it all.  The reason the attendance was so good, the girls that weren't there were talked about.  It was sure funny to me.

  I don't believe in prayer, I don't believe in miracles.  I have never seen a arm, leg, eye, finger, a baby who was born with a brain having any of these things restored.  No nothing.  I have never seen anyone with brain cancer live after a whole lot of praying.  If their lives were save, they were saved by good medicine and good doctors.

  My mother gave hours and hours and hours to her church.  But she out lived her friends and no young members remember her, no one from the church came to see her.  Not even the preacher.

I have seen two people who were virtually dead live. One was declared brain dead by several doctors. His church and family prayed for him and he lived. Another was a woman who had widespread cancer and had been told she was beyond help. The cancer went away with no treatment. Was it the prayer? I don't know, but I doubt if it hurt.
