I am 48, and that is a picture of me...and it's only 3 years old. I've actually had 9 kids, just to keep the record straight.  I am NOT a Mrs.  Though I still carry the title.  There is no chemist....I'm just high maintenance.

No this forum is not a click (clique), but it IS an established community.  Like any community we welcome new people...but if you actually troll, you may well not enjoy your time here.

Your truth isn't necessarily THE truth.  But of course as an old man, you are too set in your idea of what the truth is to be able to change now.

Looks like I've come full circle.

Dear Mrs. Pariann, I hope its Mrs.  You say that the Troll won't won't last long in this "established community".  Is this forum a "Click"?  You are going to shun me for telling the truth and standing up for the American way

I guess that picture is not of you or a very, very old picture.  :o  7 kids, 30 years in raising them that makes you 44 years old.  If it is a fairly new one.  WOW!  Who is your chemist.  ;)

No, not a "click" - just a group of folks that have posted together for a very long time; and in that time we have got to know one another fairly well. That is not to say we agree on anything because the fact is this forum and its membership is a fairly accurate microcosm of American society and politics; and you will find we rarely agree on anything.

Some of the folks on here are open to considering different ideas and perspectives, some are good at providing empirical proof to support their positions, and still others wouldn't know empirical proof if it walked right up and bit them in the ass, and steadfastly refuse to even consider anything other than their views.

Cross sabers with whomever you like, but be careful in letting false assumptions cloud your view of others and their abilities . If you bark too loudly expect to be barked at, but nobody is going to exclude anyone from participating in dialog or heated discussions on topics they may disagree upon. We all do it and sometimes daily.

The folks here are seasoned vets in forum land, and perhaps if you just took some time to read a little of what they have to say you might better understand what their positions are as well as who they are. But if you jump out of the gate with fangs slashing a lot of them may take offense to it simply because they have not had the opportunity to get to know you yet.

If you have not read this yet, here's a link to something I've written and the related discussions. It might give you a better idea surrounding where I am coming from:

There are all types out here and most of us have seen them all, so when a screen name starts flaming and engages in personal attacks right out of the gate without benefit of having had the time to acclimate, it sends a pretty clear signal that the individual's probably up to nothing good. I am not saying that you are, just trying to tell you how some of the folks here may be perceiving you.

Nothing wrong with an aggressive style, I suffer from the same thing myself. But don't jump to conclusions so quickly, or you'll just detract from your credibility in the end.

Example: Yes, that is Pari and it is an accurate representation of her when I last saw her face-to-face just a few months ago. Pari's a pretty easy going person who can be considered as suffering from OCD when it comes to spelling and grammar. It's her thing and she writes, so put on that rhino hide and prepare to endure it. (Or toss snide replies back at her if you like. But don't let that pretty woman fool you, she's smart as a whip on certain subjects and much like you is not shy about asking the right questions and expecting answers along with the proof). Your comment about her being "high maintenance" is so ironic to me. I cannot explain why because to do so would be to reveal personal aspects surrounding someone who is not only a friend in cyber space, but one I consider a friend in real life as well. She is one of maybe 2 or 3 people on here who I have actually met in real life.

So while we are not what I would call a clique, we've been around each other long enough to "get our backs up" when a newbie starts trying to throw his/her weight around prematurely. Then whatever differences we may have disappear and we will staunchly defend our brothers and sisters without reservation.

And all you need do to receive this same benefit is just take some of the suggestions these kind folks have put out there and implement them. You've already encountered one of us who take the scientific approach when it comes to supporting a statement, opinion, or perspective. There a several others and they will be just as demanding as you appear to be when it comes to obtaining answers. It should make for a very interesting set of conversations once we've all had the time to get to know you and you to know us.

IMHO this group welcomes opposing perspectives and opinions. And like society some of us are open to those views and some aren't. But if you are sincere it will come through within your posts and folks will see it. And that will earn you the respect of the membership here, whether we agree with you or not.

You put it out there quite well, PH.  I personally, even with rhino hide, have taken offense to how quickly he jumped on one line I wrote and certainly take offense to being called high maintenance.  If the troll should ever gain access to my personal area, and actually takes the time to read about me, he will be most surprised at how wrong his knee jerk reaction was.
Looks like I've come full circle.

Dearest Pariann, read Palehorse piece about you.  He says that you are very smart.  I don't doubt that.  I really like and enjoy smart and intelligent women, I married one.  Duhh, I do dah hard work and she took dah money, dah whole control of me and dats why i live pretty good now.

He also says your a "nut" par-don-aaa dar i go using wrong spellling and dah grammar.  Stickler on spelling, bad grammar, sintax and so on and I have big hands and big fingers, from using big tools, I have an oversized key board and still don't type very good.  If you're going to read my stuff, that's what you are going to get.  Suggestion:  Either take me with a grain of salt or get out your brass knuckles and join the battle or do what  little yappy dogs do.  Yap and bite at the paws of big dogs.   I am not about to tie both arms behind my back and let a smart woman beat the hell out of me.

Question:  What is your meaning of a Troll and I don't mean Dick Cheney.

Question:  Clique, dah, dats a french word  for click, ain't it.

The Troll   :smitten:  :smitten:  ;D

And you, The Troll, just go with the flow when I point out grammar and spelling errors that I want to poke at.  It's all in good fun, and in no way diminishes any intelligence you may have.   I do it to everyone, it's just my thing.  One day I just may take a whole post of yours and red pen it.   It's just fun........smile and move on if I do it.
Looks like I've come full circle.

You know I feel like the mouse in the cartoon,  he's in a trap with the bar over the back of his neck,  with all the so called good mice lined up behind him going to "do" him. while he is down and out.

It reminds of two old piperfitters that I worked with.  Kenny  and Edgar.  They were working 12 hour shifts in the same department.  So this day I was working with Kenny and I asked about his 12 hour shift.  Kenny said it plain hell.  That damn Edgar isn't doing a thing and I am having to carry the whole damn department by myself.  "He is the laziest sonuvabitch I have ever seen."  Just then a machine repairman walked and said that he had seen Edgar hiding and sleeping during his shift.  The repairman said. "He the sonuvabitch I have seen".  Kenny stood straight got in his face and Said "Look buddy, you don't call Edgar a sonuvabitch bitch or I'll wrap a 18 inch pipewrench around your head"  The repairman stepped back and said sorry and he walked away.

I said Kenny you just got through calling  Edgar a sonuvabitch -bitch and you go off on that guy.  Why.  Kenny looked at like I was half bright and said.  Edgar is "our" sonuvabitch and he can't say anything about him.  Could this be happening to me.       The Troll

Could be but the thing is if ya hang around and get to know us we would do the same for you.  We don't argue as in fight to see who comes out on top we discuss, sometimes rather heatedly I'll have to admit, to try to get our points of view across.

Troll,

I feel just like that mouse you describe on here many times... ;D

It is all good here, even though you and I may never agree on ONE issue, I will read what you have to say and will usually respond, if you don't get to cranky with me... ;) :)

Very true. It hasn't been all that long ago that I was a newbie here. I'm very happy that the group here has accepted me as a family member, even though I haven't always been the nicest of persons.
