Americans are going to find out exactly how much those Bush tax cuts helped when they go away next year and most folks will be owing taxes next year instead of getting a refund....and, when a  loved one dies next year, the gov is going to come in and take nearly half of what was left of his/her estate....the capital gains tax will increase during a down economy, this is NOT going to do the small business man ANY favors....and federal revenue will not grow with increased taxes, .... only economic growth will increase federal revenue....so, you have to look at the BIG picture of how tax cuts help the common man...and the facts will prevail themselves IF and WHEN these tax breaks go away in 2011.

Dear Parann,  Now a sane person or persons would not put their money for Social Security into the stock market.  Even "ME" and "Henry Hawk" even the people that make up the TeaBaggers didn't  fall for that big tub of B.S.   But ole George W. traveled the country to try to get the American people to do it.  Why, his stock market, banker, super-rich friends wanted your money in their pockets.  Greenspan of the Federal Reserve had lowered and lowered the interest on C.D's and loans that the people who had at one time lived off of the interest of their CDs were forced to put their money into the stock market.  Which the Bernie Madoff, and the real estate crooks promptly stole plus to keep George W. afloat until he got out of office.  Ole George W. didn't make it and you see what he and the Republicans have done to the country.   

  Now "ME", using "DUDE are you telling me what you mental age is.  You have not given me a answer on.  If you did not have to pay any taxes, but you could not use anything that was paided for by the American taxpayers.  WOULD YOU TAKE THEM UP ON THEIR OFFER?  Hey, DUDE can I get your answer?   

  Yes, Me (Dude) I am in the 15% tax rate and I am proud of it.  I am in the largest group of people in this country, that why we didn't get a tax cut.  Somebody has to pay for the tax dead beats we have in this country.  If everybody paid their taxes.  Not working under the table and just flat cheating on their tax forms our taxes would be a lot lower.  You have to stop the liers and the cheaters, know anything about that "ME".   I have been retired for 10 years.  I am helping to keep my widower brother-in-law who had a kidney transplant failure, he may of had Medicare, but it sure broke him.  I am helping my son to try to keep him from loosing his home, who had lost his job and while he was layed off with no health insurance his wife gets sick with a huge medical bill.  I have all ready lost $62,000 out of my retirement fund in the stock market.  With a interrest rate of 1.6% on my CDs,  I have lost some of my income.  How about you Aholes.  When I started my plumbing business I had a very rich man tell me, Son you can't do business with people who have no money.  Don't think about and don't do it.  Why, because you won't get rich.  True story.  Well, I didn't listen to him,  I did cut my wages to help out poor people with their plumbing problems.  I am not sorry.

The reason the interest rate on CD's decreased is because the interest banks collected on loans decreased.  You can't get a high yield on CD's and also have a low interest loan from the bank it just doesn't work that way.   If you are getting 1.6% interest on your CD's you have a tidy little sum deposited so don't cry to me about how broke you are. Mom just renewed her's and is getting less than 1% and I know how much she had so don't tell me I have no clue. 

Your question to me is still ridiculous because I never said I didn't want to pay taxes.

Don't know where you went to school but if you're really that old you were certainly in school for a long time because they didn't start the sight reading that far back.  That wasn't started until sometime in the early 70's IIRC.  I was taught phonics and so were my kids.

Not that we don't have some verbal donnybrooks here, but, the difference is that, at the end of the day, we respect each other  because we have taken the time to get to know each other. You might try it.

hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah amen!  Mr. "Me" you are getting smarter and smarter.  I started school in 1944 and my  school for two yeas taught Sight Reading, at the the start of 1946 Sight reading was stopped, because the kids couldn't spell.  Since I wasn't in the 1st and the 2nd grade but the third grade I wasn't given the change to take phonics.  Did you understand that?   I served two years active duty.  Did you, and two years reserves.  I attended all of the reserve meeting, I didn't pull a George W. and skip out.  I have always played by the rules.  I started my apprenticeship in 1966.  Because Ford cut my pay and took all of my overtime made go to school four night a week, II need money. after two years on the apprenticeship  I was smart enough to get my Indiana Plumbing Contractor Licence.  How about that.   Now if you think I was going to quite Ford Motor Co. to work full time and work for the public.  Question: Are you NUTS?   I sold, install over 150 water conditioners to Ford employees alone.  I quite counting after I had sold and I stalled 400 water conditioner.  I started my plumbing business in 1968.  I will tell you that during Clinton times  I was working at Ford 7 day a  week and in a three month period I sold and installed 38 water conditioners.   I still have the receipts to prove it.  I would get up at 5:15AM get off at 3:30 go put in a conditioner get home at 8:30 to 10 PM.  Now I did not work my plumbing full time because Ford came first I didn't do big jobs tearing out their plumbing and leaving it to go to Ford.  But it paid for some really, really nice trucks. pilot training, my share in an airplane,  many boats, ending with a 23 ft Cuddycabin Rinker 230 HP boat.  Some cruises and a trip or two to Las Vegas.  and a whole lot of really fine tools.  I didn't mind work and I didn't mind paying taxes.  That I why I get so mad when I hear "IT'S MY MONEY AND I WANT I NOW".  ALL OF IT.  By the way I worked for Ford 38 years and they treated me really good.  That why I am so happy.  You should see my pention and benefits.  I was worth every one on those 38 years I spent at Ford.  If you find an old Dunn and Bradstreet business book, you could see my company name, if you knew what it was.

Troll - FTW is right. Sometimes...er...a lot of the time...some of us disagree on issues, but that aside the forum is full of wonderful people.

I like to disagree w/Henry and "me" on political issues because it's easy..they're normally wrong, BUT they are two of my very favorite people and you won't find anyone who is more fun or as nice as those two. It's a very different forum dynamic b/c I've participated in some where people are on the constant attack and that gets old.

Pari is a long time forum friend also. She doesn't normally get into political discussions at all, except to have some fun (at our expense) b/c we all get sloppy w/grammar, etc., from time to time. She doesn't mean it as a personal attack at all. I know that b/c I've posted w/her enough to know that she doesn't take the forum world serious and she has a very kind and gentle spirit. She enjoys herself here and I think most of us think she's fun to have around.

As for FTW, he's just special and you better not mess w/him 'cause I've got his back.

I'm real glad you were fortunate enough to have accumulated all that wealth and had the ability to do all you did but what you don't seem to understand is you are the people who are expected to pay the way for the less fortunate.  I was not as fortunate as you and could not afford all you could and that is not your fault and you shouldn't and others who are as fortunate as you should not have to give to me or anyone else  because I/we didn't have all that and don't have what you have in your retirement years.  Yes, you have a duty to pay taxes for necessary things but not entitlement programs.  If things are handed to people they do not appreciate them but rather expect more and take things for granted which is what I see happening.  No one wants to work for anything anymore they think they are entitled just because they were born.

Hey Troll I just read Sandy's post because she was posting at the same time I was.  I'm sure you had read down through the threads before you posted and read where we were going at it pretty hard at each other but, like Sandy said, some of us disagree on things and Henry and I are usually right,  @ Sandy but we are buddy's in other parts of the forum.  Please get to know us in other parts of the forum and let us get to know you too.  We aren't argumentative all of the time and actually have fun.   Dear FTW and Sandy,   I am new at this game.  When I came in on this forum I asked 15 very simple questions, not hard and questions you don't have to be a genius to answer.  And I get all of these smart ass remarks and backstabbings, egging others to do her dirty work.  Make nasty remarks about my grammar UGH.  I know it is, at my age it is to late to learn it.  But does she get by with it , just because she a female, she gets to hit me below the belt.  I don't thing so.

   Here comes the  the blessed peace makers trying to calm everthing.  I ask a question and I get a question.  I get something like "I don't need to prove anything to you", "Anyone with common sense knows you're wrong."  No information, no answers.  Just dumb smart ass remarks.  Like one minute, I never had a business.  I did have a legal state licenced business.  If you are at a  15% tax rate you get  "Why you ain't you paying more, because your a big plumbing contractor" or "Oh you sound like somebody that work for GM and part time."  Like that's bad. 
 
  I am willing to carry a decent conversation if someone returns it.  But I worked with some real tough and hard working men,  if you weren't willing to get tough, back, they would eat you up.  I have work for so real stupid authority figures who was always trying to take advantage of you.   People you had to take to small court to collect your money.   Mr. "Me"  I am sorry thing didn't turn out as good as it did for me.  I sure had some good luck, I had no one pulling the string for me and really I don't like to brag about it.  I do have some friend who didn't get the breaks.  When someone goes after me, I fight back and I fight to win.  Loosing just plain sucks.  My son had some really bad luck with his wife getting sick without insurance.  It will cost me a little more in taxes.  But, believe me, I want everyone in this country to be able to get some medical care and not go bankrupt, like my son.  I am going to save his home.  So help me god.  The Troll.  What I like to say to people I am beginning to like.  May you live as long as you want and may you not want as long as you live.  Good Luck on your travels through the universe.
