Lost in the day-to-day bickering about health care, political philosophy, and the conservative flotsam is the fact that just south of Cuba potentially hundreds of thousands of human beings have died, or are dieing in Haiti.

In the capital city of Port Au Prince it is being said that there are very few buildings left standing after a 7.1 earthquake rocked the area yesterday evening. Live news accounts say that the streets are filled with the injured, orphaned, and dead; and even those charged with assisting the populace during such times are themselves victimized by the event, leaving each person to do for themselves.

The aftershocks following the main event are measuring 5.0, and in a country where little is done to incorporate safety into the architecture of the populated area's homes, shacks, and buildings, even the aftershocks are devastating.

Yeah, we actually should have started a thread about that.   It is a catastrophe of epic proportions.

The prime minister is quoted as saying that the death toll will run "into the hundreds of thousands"! If it even makes a hundred it is devastating, hundreds of thousands is beyond devastating. . .

I know the country has a less than savory reputation and a history of abuse toward its population, but this situation is beyond a hurricane or flood, and appears to have wiped a major portion of the population out. . .  Along with their homes, their caregivers, and even their government to a degree.

That guy needs to crawl under a rock, and STFU.  He's clearly lost whatever marbles he may have had left.
