We aren't going to pay them $7 million.  They will get $7 million in tax breaks over a 10-year period as long as they invest, which they plan on spending AT least $16 million back into it's facilities here in the State........seems like a pretty good return to me.

Which means there will be 7 million dollars less in the budget over the next 10 years. . . And where do you think the state budget will get that 7 million dollar deficit made up exactly?

This is called "kicking the can" methodology . . . :kickcan:

I know..I know..social programs which help the poor or taxes on something we use...upping the sales tax?  Sure, why not?

Because the "can" is always the least amongst us that pay the price, that is why not.

Corporate Amerika posts historic profit levels while the poor starve, die horrifically due to lack of medical care, and their ranks are growing exponentially.

A perfect example is big oil subsidization in this country. Why do we persist in giving them billions every single year while their bottom line increases exponentially? Wouldn't that money be far better spent in providing funding that feeds and cares for those who cannot provide for their families? In education of our people instead of drilling for profit? In paying back social security for the billions illegally taken from it by congress?

And from where do you think the money comes to cover that shortfall in the state's budget?

I see PH already asked this as well...

Quote...as long as they invest, which they plan on spending AT least $16 million back into it's facilities here in the State.

And here's what they're spending that money on...eliminating jobs!

So what is your suggestion? Do nothing?  I'm not asking this in a sarcastic way.....part of me believes we (as taxpayers) should NOT be doing this.  It seems like a "damned if you or damned if you don't" scenario....I know the re-investment is going to effect my company as we already do a great deal of work at carrier.......keeping Carrier here has an enormous effect on the local economy.  Not just the people directly working for them.  So on a personal level, it is good for me.  For you, it may not have any effect....so, I understand.

I know that we (Indiana) finished this year with a $50.6 million state surplus....

Yep, "It's good for me."a  Yep, it's all about you.  Butt Hole.

Help me with this guys..........you are "Okay" with DOE loan program, costing taxpayers several billion dollars....where many of it's programs went bankrupt, but for Indiana to spend $7 mill over 10 years to KEEP business here and perhaps putting several million back into the local economy is bad?

I was being sarcastic.

We need to push for taxing the rich, taxing the corporations and taxing the businesses, including rental properties, that the churches are getting with the Faith based funds, imho.  Only THEN do we have a strong nation and not just another third world for the New World Order corporations to control.

Yeah, like all his overseas investments, the rich in this nation are willing to sacrifice our nation for the global economy..and a bigger piece of the pie.  Makes you sick, doesn't it?
