Please explain how the Republicans can be obstructionists when they are in the minority and have been for almost 4yrs now.  It isn't their fault some of the dems also don't agree with what's going on and vote with the Republicans.  You can't have it both ways ya know.  Also why is it now the Republican's or congress' fault everything is going down the tubes but and none of it is Obama and when Bush was in office it was Bush who was at fault no matter what, not congress, not the dems, just Bush.

so, what you are telling me is, that IF, we quit drilling.....ALL DRILLING....off shore or on shore, it will only cost  a 2% increase?.........hell, we are going to pay way more than that becasue congress is NOW wanting to raise taxes on OIL another 32 cents per barrell, and That won't effect us at the pumps either will it...they say that money will go to help finacne clean ups.....(my ass!!)...that money will never go to one person or sea turtle, it will end up in the UAW or Acorn or someplace else....I can bet on that....because I though Obama said BP will pay for ALL of this....am I right or wrong?

No, that is not what I am saying. . .

Lets see. . . Suppose every single drop of oil in the entire world amounted to 1 - 55 gallon drum. The amount in that drum that would represent what the United States owns would equate to 1.1 gallon of the entire content; with the rest belonging to others.

So, once we burn through it by accelerating our use of it, it will be gone. The best experts out there (from the industry itself), estimates that if we ramped up production from those sources at the end of 8 years it will all be gone. Then what will we do??

The fact is increasing US production will do nothing to positively influence pricing, in bulk or at consumer levels, even if we were able to magically withdraw every single drop in an hour, it would still only be 2% of what is available in the world, and not enough to influence pricing or supply world wide. (Why aren't you getting that point?) And increasing production will only accelerate the eventual outcome in any event, which leaves the US at the mercy of the world unless alternative fuels and methods are identified and implemented.

As this nation sits here watching millions of gallons of crude spew into the gulf, that end of supply date is being drawn in even closer. . .  and we are pissing it away, (or rather BP is) , as if it is nothing. And the reality is to BP it is nothing. They've got bigger and more profitable fields to suck dry elsewhere in the world. . .

The fact is the prices we are seeing are never going to get any better, and in fact will get even worse as time goes by, and until the alternative is identified this country has a bright shiny nose ring to be led around by. This country is so addicted to it that we are going to have to be forced to pursue alternative venues or we will NEVER do it until it is too late.

Just the fact we are watching our country be environmentally slaughtered by that mid ocean gusher, and still hear voices crying drill baby drill despite it, should be example enough to validate the level of addiction this country suffers from.

"let find some unicorns and rainbows and make this world a better place".... we STILL need to drill...............and btw, maybe if you treehuggers wouldn't have bitched a fit about drilling on land, we would NOT have had to rely so much on off-shore drilling.... face it, until we find another solution ....OIL is the best we have right now.

Henry, listening to you is like reading and taking it as the truth is,  Alice in Wonderland.

I have never seen a worse case of Paranoia.  I think you're losing it.  You really have a problem of thinking that everybody is after you.  Everything is a conspiracy.  The Democrats are out to destroy this country and it's Constitution.  Not true.

The Democrats are out to get our guns and destroy  the Christian control of this country.  I would like for they to get religion out of government.  But the Democrats that are in power are not after Christians or guns, no, we like our guns too.

The other day you said you needed a vacation.  Well, before you do, you need to go to this website and start reading about yourself.

You want to blame Obama for this Republican Cluster F*#k.  Just how would your old John McCain and your dumbass Sara Palin would handle this mess.  Sara to the front and lead us out of this mess. :rotfl:  :rotfl:  :rotfl:  You got to be kidding me.

There were 77 just before the end of the 4th quarter last year alone, but I'll give you a good example of the shit republicans are doing:

Earlier this year the Senate majority had filed 58 cloture motions requiring 32 recorded votes. One of the more outrageous cases involved an extension in unemployment benefits, a no-brainer in light of the dismal economy. The bill ultimately cleared the Senate by 98-0 -- yes, that is a zero.

The vote came only after the Republicans launched three filibusters against the bill and also tried to lard it with unrelated amendments, delaying passage by nearly a month. And you wonder why nothing is getting done????

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/01/gop-filibuster-record-rep_n_480722.html

In the 110th Congress of 2007-2008, with Republicans in the minority, there were a record 112 cloture votes. In the current session of Congress – the 111th – for all of 2009 and the first two months of 2010 the number already exceeds 40. The most the filibuster has been used when Democrats were in the minority was 58 times in the 106th Congress of 1999-2000.

You have to search for cloture votes, not filibusters, Henry. But one of the really interesting things I found in this search was this:

Brown broke the Democratic 60-seat majority before the two chambers could meld differences in their bills for a final vote in both houses.

However, one of Brown's first votes after taking office saw him joining four other Republicans to help Democrats break a threatened filibuster by his party's leaders against a job bill.

Ya just never can tell about those Massachusetts guys. (I knew they really elected another Kennedy.) Of course, maybe Scott Brown was bright enough to realize party unity was stupid when unemployment stands in double digits. Hope he manages to infect a few other of the goose-stepping GOP with the ability to recognize and support what is important for the country, rather than what hurts the other party.

What did they filibuster?  I remember the dem's doing that when Bush was in office.

Anything and everything, including unemployment extensions. . . They even did it to their own legislation! Now if that doesn't validate the fact they are practicing obstructionist legislation I don't know what will!

And, it was the republicans doing it under Bush as well!  Check out the link in Lolly's post.

But then, you might have to do a little work. . . all that clickin', and data entry, then actually have to read???? !!!!
