It's that time of year when evangelicals go out of their way to try and destroy our holiday traditions.  Their misguided attempt to put christ back in christmas fails every year, but they keep trying.  They have no clue what it is they follow, and a good example of that is the cross in the tree approach.  Just goofy, but provides real insight to the fact that the early church hijacked the pagan traditions most of us celebrate today in the first attempts to put christ in XMAS.



Jeremiah 10

1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

You may have heard part of the story last week, but this is new. A ransom demand has been received!

"We are the Local Reactionary Group called Townsfolk Are-a Reuniting them Damned Southerners — or TARDS. We are responsible for the liberation of Doris Thompson's plastic baby Jesus this week. Our demands are simple, and if followed, no harm will come to baby Jesus."

So, what is "the word" they want published 3 times?  Did I miss that in the story, or would they have been "capitulating" to the "terrorists" if they put that in the story, even once?

I think we're supposed to guess. I have submitted three entries, but have yet to receive a reply. They won't tell me what the prize is either. (I'm hoping for world peace, or a cure for cancer.)
