Collins has never played under this system at all.
Ignorance and fanaticism are ravenous. They require constant feeding.

Yup. To be fair about things, the Colts are a "timing route" team, and when a key component to the timing is removed (manning) the timing goes down. Same held true when Manning was in, but his key receivers were out and replaced by backups. (IE No time together in practice means disconnects and blown timing).

Collins would not have been my personal choice, but it was the choice of those in control of the team. To be fair, the man has not worked with this team, or system, before; but he spent plenty of time on the other side of it and thus should know how effective it is when the timing is achieved.

To that end, a large percentage of the offensive line are newbies themselves, and although I did NOT watch this past Sunday's games, (nor highlights), I expect the result was virtually the same as game one; Collins was under siege and barely had time to get a decent throw in. Although, I suspect he must have had some opportunities due to the dropped ball comments.

Might as well face it, the team is toast right now, and if they couldn't beat Cleveland the odds are they will not beat anybody in the next 6-8 weeks at a minimum. (If at all).

Even if Manning almighty returns, (which I HIGHLY doubt), the timing aspect of the game is toast.

I absolutely agree that the team SHOULD have been a lot more proactive in grooming a backup to help remediate the inevitable Manning injury. But the best we can do now is hope that they have learned the fallacy in their worship of an individual player instead of a team. (I won't hold my breath on that one).

And for the record, I am not at all optimistic surrounding the return of Manning to take another snap. . . ever. His injury is a VERY serious one, and the odds are against him. Given his record, I believe it is a safe assumption to state that he is a smart man, and when he sees the odds of his incurring a more serious condition should he ever take another snap, I have to believe he'll look to fill a coaching role with this team and another, as opposed to risking paralysis or worse.

There's a LOT to be gained with him stepping into a coaching role, for any team and for the league itself. He may not take another snap, but the possibilities surrounding him sharing his knowledge of the game, position, and strategy, represent a huge opportunity to take the game itself to a higher level. And that will at the end of the day, become the achievement in his lifetime that will outshine his performance on the field itself.

I may be wrong, but that is the way I see it. And if it comes to pass that Manning is indeed finished playing, lets just hope the Colts organization isn't too blind to see things the same way! If they are, I predict the citizens of this State will regret the day they backed any effort to prevent those Mayflower trucks from returning to Indianapolis a few short years ago. . .

I agree with you on Peyton Manning, he shouldn't play.  One good hit and he could become a paraplegic.   :(

How can the Colts over come this.  It sure seems dark for the team.  :(  :colts:

They need a new QB, and the likelihood of them finding another college prospect on par with the Manning brothers is very slim indeed. And I don't see them going very far with a reactivated retiree, current or other. (Brett).

Combine that with the rookie laden offensive line with the effectiveness of swiss cheese, and we've got the makings of a decades long drought surrounding a winning season; but they sure have a mighty fine palace within which to suck! (And it isn't costing them a dime  either).

I LMAO at all of the season tickets being offered up for sale each week by holders that work where I do.  I could have bought some sweet seats at 50% of face value for the Cleveland game last week, and additional tix are on the boards this week!

I might break down and go to see them get beat up one of these weekends. . . just for giggles!

Indy fans are the most fickle than any other city in the NFL.  They LOVE those Colts when they are winning, but da hell with them when things get tough.....Da Bears have some REAL fans.....they LOVE their BEARS!  Rain, snow or sucky teams...they STILL sell them tickets and fill the seats.

I think it would behove the colts to either utilize Curtis Painter or another young QB, let them get their licks in and learn....ending up with the worst record may not be such a bad thing for the next draft, with the likes of Standford QB Andrew Luck.

A running back on the New England Patriots has been ordered to do his patriotic duty - and report immediately aboard a Navy ship.
Eric Kettani, who became a feel-good story after making the team's practice squad, and who is an alum of  the U.S. Naval Academy, was ordered to return to his Navy ship in Jacksonville, the Boston Herald reported. He said he hopes to get back to his career in the NFL, but knows he must follow orders.
"I love my country and I'm happy to serve it, but I'm also happy to be a New England Patriot," Kettani told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.

I'll watch the first quarter, and maybe to the half, but that's it. Early start to the week tomorrow.

The Pack is kicking butt and taking names thus far. They may have more than a good shot at getting back to the big show this year!
