Well, a federal judge sided with the NFLPA and issued an order to end the lockout by the owners today. . . SHORT lived no doubt. . .

http://www.cnn.com/2011/SPORT/football/04/25/nfl.lockout/index.html?hpt=T1

In reading the linked article, I did find reason to question the sanity of the presiding judge. . . I quote the passage below. See if you can spot my reason for concern. . .

". . .In her ruling Monday, U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson said the decision by the players to disband their union meant the case no longer came under federal labor law that prohibits injunctions, as claimed by the owners. . .

. . . ."Her"? Or is it "His"? Does "it" even know itself?  :spooked:

. . . And then there is this little gem:

. . ."The owners say that the current labor deal doesn't take into account the rising costs related to building stadiums and promoting the game. The players argue that the league has not sufficiently opened up its books to prove this. . ."

Awww come on! Seriously?

Let's see. . . the NFL and its various franchises tour the country holding up the citizens of its team cities by threatening to move unless the citizens foot the bill for a brand spanking new, state of the art, stadium; then force those same citizens to cough up even more cash because the teams cannot "afford" the upkeep for these buildings? And now they want the players to submit to concessions in salary and compensation (implied) in order to pay for the upkeep??? "Where's the beef?"

A 9 BILLION dollar industry, that takes a cool billion right off the top, and then takes 40% of the remaining 8 billion, and they can't afford the upkeep for their palatial facilities which they DO NOT even pay to have constructed? (This is the nice area, but let me assure you I am NOT thinking very nice words for this diversion play!)

And what's that you say? You won't open the books? (Wonder why????     )

I'll say this much though; they mess around and lock the players out, ending the 2011 season, and in this individual's opinion they are destined for failure and HUGE fan base losses, from which many of these franchises may NEVER recover. . .

I say the taxpayers of the NFL cities around this country are owed a HUGE debt for funding the construction of these blasted stadiums, and it is high time we begin meeting these threats of moving with an offer to pay for the damned trucks to get them out of town! It'd be cheaper!

Tonight on MSNBC there was fellow football fan who want the football teams NFL owned by the cities and fans they are in.

I didn't know it but he said that the Green Bay Packers are owned by the fans.  He also said that 80% of the concessions  went to charity in Green Bay.

Can you imagine Jim Irsay giving any money to the 5 counties that pay taxes to the Colts and the Million dollar players.  They only take, not give.

The only one that I know that gives is Payton Manning, he give a lot of money and time to sick children and many other charities.

Irsay gives around $2 Million every year to local charities......throw that in along with Mannings contributions and the other Colt players who give their time and money....you would be surprised at how much we would NOT have if it were NOT for the Colts existence in Indianapolis.....How much money would leave this area if we would lose them.  I think the City made some bad moves in the negotioations in building the stadium, but we need better leadership involved at that level.

Irsay. . . At that rate it'll take him 100 years to make up what his teams palatial digs cost the taxpayers of Marion and the collar counties; and that's not counting any interest! 2 mill is pocket change to that guy. . . And there is NO classifying what the team members contribute along with his contributions. The motivations are entirely different in each case. . . and in some cases are mandated by the NFL. . .

If you ask me, Indianapolis and Indiana would be far better off without the anvil (Colts) around their neck!

Sure sounds like a good start for Indianapolis to host the Super Bowl.

Yeah. . . another component of the bill of goods force fed the citizens of Marion county and the collar counties, in order to fund Irsay Palace on their backs. . .

Can't say I'm as optimistic about the situation in the NBA though.

As far as the "Dolts" go, my money is on Manning going down within the first 4 games with a "neck injury". Most likely in the game against the Steelers.

Once that happens, stick a fork in em!
