Arizona Pastor Prays That Obama 'Will Die And Go To Hell'

http://www.propeller.com/story/2009/08/25/arizona-pastor-prays-that-obama-39will-die-and-go-to-hell39/

Steven Anderson, the right-wing pastor from Tempe who said he was abused by authorities at an Arizona checkpoint in April, caught the attention of MSNBC for his hate-filled, anti-Obama extremist.

"Arizona, what is your deal?" wonders "Pareene" of the NYC-based Gawker.com, who also references the recent gun parade that took place during Obama's rally at the Phoenix Convention Center. "Is the heat making you crazy?"

In a sermon of Anderson's played by the news channel, Anderson says he prays that Obama will "die and go to hell."

Well since there is no hell, and no heaven, no God and no Satan, you really shouldn't care whether or not this guy is an asshole.  I mean, he's not harming anyone by praying to nobody, right?
Looks like I've come full circle.

That is completely off the point.

When this kind of rhetoric takes hold on the certifiable whacknuts out there, it begs the question "When is someone who is already close to the edge going to teeter over and try to carry out what he/she will perceive as being an order from god which (the defense will be) was funneled through the pastor nutbag as a mouthpiece?"

This doesn't cause even a smidgen of concern for the possible action of all of those self-righteous 'murikins out there?

Causes me to take a moment for reflection.
Ignorance and fanaticism are ravenous. They require constant feeding.

Causes me to say, the message can get out just as well from jail as it does while free.   Do you think prison walls ever came between the mouthpiece and the end result?

Usually when they're in jail they don't get quite as much press.

why should a guy go to jail for praying?........that is all he did.....though he DID pray for the death of the POTUS...that is NOT against the law....nor should he have been roughed up by security.

he may very well be a nutcase....but, there is a LONG line of nutcases out there.....

FTW,

I wonder if you think that Manson hasn't had much press since he's been in prison. There's a nutcase.

I also wonder if you don't think that people still hear the words of the other nuts that are in prison.  Look at all the hits that are carried out on behalf of those that are locked up.

Putting someone in jail doesn't silence them.  It just means they have to be a little more creative in getting their word out.   If you've never been by a county jail, where the inmates can look out their windows and see you, you should go sometime, hang out and hear the messages that are yelled out the windows.   My daughter, 19, was given a message by my oldest daughters husband a few weeks ago, when she had reason to go to the county jail on another matter.  My son-in-law told her, yelling out the windows, tell your sister to answer my calls, or I'll kill you when I get out.   Nope, jails don't prevent nutjobs from passing along their message.

Another question, how many of the people who have tried to take out, or have succeeded in killing, presidents made public announcement of their views before doing so?  And how many of them said they did it because someone else suggested it?

No, you really don't understand.  This guy isn't just praying that obama die, he is inciting his nutjob followers to kill obama.  You haven't heard all he has said and I can't find it all, but one of his followers showed up at an obama health care town hall with two AK's strapped to his back.

It's not the nutjob that needs to be in jail then.  it's the nutjob followers who come to town hall meetings armed to kill.  Someone needs to explain to me why others follow the wishes of someone else, when they KNOW what they are doing can remove them from society or life.

I've said many times I wish someone would die.  And meant it.   But I would certainly not expect anyone to act on my wishes.  AND if they did, I sure wouldn't want to be blamed because another whacko did the deed.

Prove this one....I think YOUR a nutjob.... ;D ...I'm thinking IF this was true and somebody was packing two AK's to a town hall of Obama's....this MIGHT just make the news.....so far, the guy has done NOTHING wrong but piss YOU off...because HE has a belief in something that YOU don't.

By the way, I think it is intersting that your avatar indicates that you are a POOF.  Anderson wants you dead, right now!

Henry....sometime you need to give your nemesis posters on here a break.  He said he's looking for the information that would serve as proof.  Read between his lines.  .............as well, I'm sorry, but it's just not very Christian to wish people would die and go to hell.  You are supposed to love your brothers, and pray for their souls to find God.  (At least that's what I learned growing up.)

But I do need to repeat.  LOCKING UP A NUTJOB DOES, NOT STOP HIS MESSAGE FROM GETTING OUT!!  Now that he's in the media with his view, if he were to be detained as a traitor, or a leader of traitors, that would just spur his followers to continue trying to make his prayers come true.
