I'm positive it would have not been good IF they failed...my argument is NOT bailingout AIG....I am sick and tired of wastefull spending..........we are spending billions of dollars that we no longer have.........I think the GOV spending money is never a good thing...........return the money BACK to the people and let THEM spend IF they choose too.......let recessions run their course.....they are a natural part of our economic system.  This current recession would have pulled out WITHOUT the so-called stimulus package that we just threw away.

pulled out when?

How do you figger? Ex didn't send us into Iraq, or write interest-only mortgages to people with bad credit.

Hurling easy insults at those who disagree with you does little to explain your view on how the situation came about, or how it should be addressed.

I didn't single ex out, he eagerly volunteered. Now if you want to join him go ahead. There is at least a 1/2 a busload here who could join ya.

Henry is the closest to a viable solution, so far. IMO  Sure Bush should be horse-whipped for his economic approach, but Obummer is a train wreck to this country. ( unless of course, you think that socialism & economic suicide is  the furture. )

I'm beginning to think Glen Beck is right. We couldn't be doing so many wrong things, so quickly unless it is on purpose.

...they average recession since WWII has been around 10 months....but according to the press, most of Bush's years we was in a recession...in my opinion,.....I think we MAY see a short break (by natural causes)....but will be hit again soon, when the inflation comes from ALL of the money we are spending that we do not have.....

Perhaps it would have pulled through if it were merely a recession.  But what we had, was a perfect storm of economical crises that left us in one hell of a mess.  The list of potential nightmares that might have happened had AIG been allowed to fail is a long one.  I'll list some if you're interested in reading.  So they really had no choice but to keep throwing money at that one.

For the record, I'm no more a fan of wasteful spending than you are, but those (and I'm not saying you) who are blaming this whole thing on Obama have their blame sorely misplaced.  The bottom line is that every politician's constituents want everyone else's pork cut but their own spared.

Case in point; Sarah Palin.  She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.

BTW, if Obama's plan works, and the economy and tax revenue rebound in the coming years thanks to the spending that's currently going on, he'll be a genius.  If it doesn't work, I shudder to think the boat that we'll be in.  We'll be collectively fu*ked and not in a good way.

I'm no more blaming on Obama admin than I am the Bush admin.......I admit Bush allowed his fair share of mistakes....but the spend, spend, spend that is going on now..........and that has blood of all parties, is to the point of being asinine....

I have read many, possible scenerios IF AIG failed....it would/could be worldwide....but maybe, THAT is what this world needs.....(I hope not)

No one company should be able to have an effect on the whole world if it fails.  (Except possibly the ones that are building the nuclear bombs. )
Looks like I've come full circle.

This statement got me to thinking. . .

Wonder if this whole global economic crises isn't being "handled" in order to force nations to give due consideration to a global economic structure, global form/unit of legal tender, and tie us all together in one big financial maze of red-tape and confusion?

As if it isn't bad enough with the US borrowing from China, China from Japan, blah, blah, blah. . .  :spooked:

Obviously, you haven't read many days back. I advocate revolution. In fact, I actively recruit. In my perfect future, this country has been replaced by about six smaller nations (with mutually advantageous trade and defense agreements), so our money goes to address the problems which actually concern us!  In my world, Katrina victims would get foreign aid ... after we fix the roads around here. And the California wildfire victims could apply for help, but not at the expense of my schools.

If you are interested, I need your sizes, and your camo preference. Choose from woodlands, desert, polar, and city-scape. Sorry, but right now we are on a bring-your-own-ammo belt tightening stance.

Palehorse

I am currently hoarding ammo and camo! You won't see me or know I am there until it is too late. You'll be gone so fast you'll never hear the report from the shot that takes you out. . .
