Helping the president

Woodward News

Campaign promises are a lot easier to make than actually do.

President Obama is finding that out with the Guantanamo Bay prison situation. He promised to close the prison and says he will follow through on that.

The problem, however, is one apparently nobody thought of during the campaign - what happens if nobody wants the prisoners, or known terrorists, in some cases?

Other countries don't want them - even if their citizens of said country. Certainly nobody in the United States appears to want them.

Perhaps there's a deal on the side, but right now the entire situation looks like a screw-up.

The second problem is the president can't reverse his decision and keep Guantanamo open, even though that would seem to make the most sense.

Here's a solution. The president is from Illinois and two of his staunchest supporters are the Senators from Illinois. So let's just dump all the prisoners in a Chicago prison - heck they would probably fit in well with the political machines there. Or, put them in states where Obama's support is strongest among the Senators and Representatives.

That idea makes as much sense as anything else available with Guantanamo off limits.

Johnny McMahan is managing editor of the Woodward News
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Obviously Johnny hasn't thought this through, as most of the Chicago crooks are NOT in jail, and, we do not need those folks running the streets, buying their way into office.

I didn't know that anyone ever thought Johnny was high on the thinking pole anyway!
