I just read that Judith Hayes, otherwise known as the happy heretic, passed away on June 27, 2012.  She had lost her husband in December of 2010 and had only sporadically been adding new articles to her website since.  Sadly, it sounds as though the loss of her husband was too much for her to overcome and she may have committed suicide.  She was a voice of reason in the world and will be missed.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

I didn't even know she was dealing with pancreatic cancer.  They kept a tight lid on that one.  There's nothing about it in the Wikipedia article on her; at least there wasn't when I looked right after I posted that.

When is see a sight of something so powerful and it's the product of man it is a wonderful feeling.  I watch the  shuttle blow up many and many times and I think of that engineer who was fired because he didn't want it to fly that morning because it was to cold and the "O" rings might not hold.  What a shame to lose all of those people.  But the death of Sally almost killed the space shuttle.  Oh, the terrible thing to kill a school teacher was the drum beat, beat, beat of the 24 hour new media.  Anybody with science of space in their blood would have taken that ride and Sally did.  She took a trip into the history books as part of the American Space Program.  :salute:  :4th3:

You're mixing dead astronauts. S. CHRISTA CORRIGAN MCAULIFFE was the one who died "in flight" and the teacher.

Will someone tell which shuttle was destroyed by the leaking "O" rings that let the burning solid fuel go into the main fuel tank causing the explosion.

I know the last shuttle to be destroyed was because of a missing heat shield tile.  letting in the flames of the reentry in to the shuttle.     :'(
