Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but not all opionions are correct and are only as good as the facts that support them. You have nothing to support your opinion that he was a racist at the time of his passing. In fact, his civil rights advocacy indicates that you are more than likely very wrong. And don't waste your time pulling your one trick rabbit out of your pocket, because there's an entire list of causes he championed.

Byrd was a loyal man, devoted to his church, his wife of 69 years and his home state. His track record is far more honorable than most of the Republicans in Washington. That's what really bothers you.

I will tell you EXACTLY how I support my opinion of this man Sandy.  He may have very well been a good man, husband, dad, I don't really know...but what I do know is that he was a lifetime politician and was the first legislator to bring $1 billion of "pork" spending to his home state...which is nothing to be proud of.....and I tell you one thing, for the mere fact IF, this "ex-klansman" would have been a conservative republican, you and the left would have ran him out of town YEARS ago.....this man, at one time, OPPOSED civil rights and black justices....this is a FACT, had ANY current republican had filibustered the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act or opposed the nominations of the Supreme Court's two black justices, liberal Thurgood Marshall and conservative Clarence Thomas...Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would have barked a storm of racism, and demonized him DESPITE the fact that he may have been a  "loyal man, devoted to his church, his wife of 69 years and his home state"...THAT is what bothers me, and I decided to take the time to point this out.....because time after time, certain folks on her has called me hypocrite...well, I think the hypocrisy know no bounds sometimes...

Sandy, first of, believe me or not, I have NO hatred in me towards Byrd....NONE.  As a mater of fact I don't "hate" towards anyone..why does it bother you if I "besmirch" him now, or if I "besmirch" him while he was still alive?....the only thing that bothers me is the two-faced hypocrisy by the left.....Byrd WAS a klansman....and my whole point to even bringing that up was for the very reasons I just stated.....had it been a conservative who had the exact same record....folks like YOU would "hate" him...ME, brought up a great point and example.
