I think it's amazing that he's 92 and still able (or was) to serve as a US Senator. I believe he's the oldest currently serving, but not the oldest to have served.

  Even tho he was a Democrat, he was a fine example of Term Limitations.  I watched him on C-Span talking in the Senate.  This man should have gone from the Senate years ago.

  Senator Robert Byrd, West Virgina.  Dead at 92.  He fought for his people in West Virgnia and America.

  If only, Lugar for all of the  year he been in office, would have brought back to Indiana just 10% of what Byrd brought to West Virgina.

Well, I am not a big Lugar fan, but Byrd was the first legislator to bring $1 billion of "pork" spending to his home state...and I think THAT is not something that anyone should be proud of.....Also, he also voted against the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act..he even fillibusterd for 14 hours to try to stop it...he was a member of the KKK...he is nothing more than a racist, who kept in office because he bribed his votes with millions and millions of dollars worth of pork...

of course I have nothing but condolences to his family, but he should have left his office years ago....as I will admit the same for Lugar.
