Of course france russian and germany would have been great allies, but they had their own political reasons for not supporting, not because they knew better or was nicer people living there.....I think we should ALWAYS try to drum up all the support we can before we EVER do such a thing, but IF they choose not too, it should NOT mean that we should jepordize our own integrity to make them happy.....sometimes we got to do what is best for OUR country and it's people.....

I will repeat McNamara's statement that led us down this discussion path:

We did not hold to the principle that U.S. military action . . . should be carried out only in conjunction with multinational forces supported fully (and not merely cosmetically) by the international community.

Do those of you still claiming that we had all of this 'support' not understand the words fully or cosmetically?  A nod from some country no one ever heard of does not constitute support by the international community.

Yes, because they don't like wasting their money or putting their troops in harm's way by invading sovereign countries that are no threat to them.
