What you don't seem to understand Ex is that prior to 9/11 most of those people would have probably felt the same as you and would not have been afraid had something like that happened.  Seeing what Air Force One did brought all that back and they seen it happening again.

What you don't seem to understand is that my point was that there is nothing to be gained by running unless you know where the plane is going to impact.

This was for publicity, marketing or something?

Couldn't they have simply announced that they were going to be doing some publicity photos?

They did but the information wasn't passed down to the correct authorities so the public could be notified.  It isn't as though someone was joy-riding in a 747 without a flight plan and NOTAM.

QuoteFederal officials knew that sending two fighter jets and a 747 from the presidential fleet to buzz ground zero and Lady Liberty might set off nightmarish fears of a 9/11 replay, but they still ordered the photo-op kept secret from the public.

In a memo obtained by CBS 2 HD, the Federal Aviation Administration's James Johnston said the agency was aware of "the possibility of public concern regarding DOD (Department of Defense) aircraft flying at low altitudes" in an around New York City. But they demanded total secrecy from the NYPD, the Secret Service, the FBI and even the mayor's office and threatened federal sanctions if the secret got out.

So, it filtered all of the way down to a clerk in the mayor's office but they weren't allowed to tell the public...pretty stupid.  I wonder what the rationale was for not making a public announcement; possibly a security issue with someone trying to down the plane?

What ever the rational was it was just plain insensitive and stupid.

Thank you for the source, me.

However, Henry said, "Did you know that there are only two Boeing 747's that act as Air Force One?...and every time Obama goes someplace...both of them fly."

The history.com link says there were two VC-25 jets (now I want to know what happened to the other VC-25,) and that the back-up flies with the president on every overseas trip. Accompanying the president (any president, not just Obama) on overseas trips is not the same as "and every time Obama goes someplace...both of them fly."

See how important it is to check the statement against the source?

well, that is what I "believed" to be true....though I cannot find anything to back it up...other than what "me" reported...but that was not part of the story that I was trying to make a point upon...the fact was, somebody on the administration KNEW what they was doing...and goofed up...and there is little being said about it....

it was not something 'funny' that happened....
