She does have that in common with Mrs. Barbara Bush. At least Mrs. Bush had the good sense to listen to someone when it came to clothes she wore to public appearances. Too bad Mrs. Obama didn't do the same on Tuesday. The yellow/green thing, imo, was a terrible color choice and the coat looked like it didn't fit her at all. The gown was a poor choice for dancing, she was messing with the skirt all the time and all the little flowers made it look like a prom dress for an 18 year old, which she definitely is not. President and Mrs. Obama did look like a devoted couple during all the festivities though and other than her clothes I thought the day went well and gave a good impression.

Sadly Anne you must not be keeping up with your fashion then.  Lemongrass is a very stylish color this season.  The gown's neckline is also very much in fashion.  The A-line skirt - also very much in fashion.

I loved her green Jimmy Choo's!!

I loved her green outfit......thought she looked very stylish.  But then again...I liked her white gown too.

I know lemongrass is in fashion now, I just think it is a terrible color for her. Gives her a jaundiced tone, or maybe that is her normal color. I think she would have looked better in a clearer color. Just because a color is stylish does not mean everyone looks good in it. The coat wrinkled across her back like it was too tight. The white gown was lovely, for an 18 year old. She is too old to wear little white flowers strewn across a white gown and if she wants to wear a train then she needs to learn how to walk and dance in one.

I would have been more comfortable if she had been wearing blue jeans and a t shirt.  ;D

Somehow I can't imagine her in jeans and a t shirt. Whatever she wore would have been heralded as a wonderful choice, the media is so in love with her. I did she her in a very nice outfit by the same designer as the "lemongrass" dress in an older newsclip though. Very classy.

I think see lacks class.  She played the race card early:  "I've never really been proud of my country.............."  Not classy.  Give her a chance though.

Another bonehead, misinterpretation brought to you by Fox Noise.  Are you a person of color?  Just curious.

I haven't been proud of this country over the past 8 years, with bush as our rep in the world, the torture of prisoners, and the complete disdain for the Constitution shown by bushco, and I didn't even have to endure the decades of racist oppression the Obamas have.  So, when white-bread America gasps at the audacity of a "negro" to claim some disappointment with this country only proves her point, and Monroe appears to be their spokesperson.

If you were happy with the state of this nation over the last 8 years, then you are a traitor to its ideals.

To suppose that everyone should be 100% proud of America at all times is ridiculous. If anyone claims that they are, then they aren't paying attention and/or are not being honest. Someone who is honest has more class than all of the pretenders put together.

I absolutely agree.  That is the beauty of this country.  We all should be able to question the decisions of the government.  Obviously we are all on a spectrum of beliefs so I'm sure there are lots of things in the past or present that each of us has questioned.  I don't think anyone should be told to leave the country.  People who say that don't clearly know how and why this country was created.

Her statement, "I have never proud of my country until now" was a stupid mistake on her part. It wasn't what she meant, but she said it and now she has to live with it. It seems to me that she should really be proud of her country when she and her husband received a first rate education because of this country, lived in a million dollar house, and made an extremely good living, because of living in this country. She needs to think before she speaks.
