So, you would often go to the moon, without a ship?  LOL

Many times ...

I was just outside of Xenia Ohio, at my Uncles Farm. (Wellston) ?

We (us kids, and there was a pack of us including my cousins), all were excited about it and so was my uncle. They had a huge console, color television, and he wanted to have a fire and cook hot dogs over it on sticks.

So, he and a couple of his older sons, grabbed up that console TV and brought it out to the fire site. Then they ran an extension cord and antenna coax out to the set and we all sat enthralled as we watched it on TV eating hotdogs.

I recall thinking of the irony of being able to watch it on TV, while outside by the campfire, and being able to look up at the moon at the same time. An irony I never forgot.  8)  As if that moment in history wasn't special enough, my uncle made it even more special!
