Well, it's been a while, but what happened here yesterday is worth mentioning! :spooked:  Seems like our weather forecasters overreach in their predictions, so what they said we'd get  -- a lot of wind -- maybe up to 70 mph -- was hard to believe. But this time they were right. It began before daylight, and we lost electricity at about 7:30 a.m. Didn't come back on until after dark, maybe 7:30 pm. The federal government was closed, as were schools. Wrecks all over the place. And for the first time in memory I-95 south not too far from here was closed, and still was today the last I heard -- because a huge sign near the on/off ramps of a large shopping area was leaning toward the highway. In fact, the last I heard it was still closed.

It was the pits spending an entire day with no electricity and not able to go out because of the wind. But by the time it was over I felt really good about one thing. No trees fell on my roof! I live in a large community in what used to be a forest. We still have a lot of trees, and my house is at the down side of a slight hill. There are trees between me and houses up the hill behind me. Tall trees! And not only that, I have a huge crape myrtle  in my back yard. I used to worry about a tree falling on my roof during thunderstorms, but after yesterday, I felt so relieved, because most of the storm seemed to pass well overhead.

I'll ditto what Locutus said, glad you're safe!  We had gusts up to 60 mph here in PA.  The electricity to my apartment went off Friday around 3:30 or so and PPL said it wouldn't be back until Sunday around 5.  Lucky for us they overestimated and power was restored Saturday around 4.  Fortunately, I was out of town while this happened, so I didn't have to spend the night cold and in the dark!  I did have to throw out some milk and a few other items in the fridge, but everything in the freezer was ok.  Which was good because I have some NY strips, pork chops and chicken in there!   :)

It's important to save the NY Strips, pork chops, and chicken!     ;D

Well, another unusual weather day. Yesterday the weather forecasters said we were going to get snow, a lot, last night. I don't think anybody believed them, but, by noon yesterday it was windy with light rain, which got heavier, with some sleet. I decided to go to Costco just in case we lost power again or got heavy snow. When I went in it was windy and raining; when I came out there was the ice, rain, and wind. Lots of traffic, including school buses, because most everybody, it seemed, left work early. By 11 or 12 last night nothing was happening except some light rain. Same this morning when I woke up -- about 6 a.m. No snow. Was watching Morning Joe, got up to get my coffee and the newspaper. Steps felt a little icy but no snow. Then, about daylight, looked out the front door, and it was snowing, hard. Sat down with my coffee, looked out the window to the back yard, and the birds, which I and a next door neighbor feed, were flying around in the snow, up and down and around, I guess by instinct or thought, wondering what the heck was happening. The snow stopped about noon, and the sun came out. We got at least 4 inches.

I'm now looking out my upstairs bedroom window-- a nice neighbor is shoveling snow from around my car and in front of my house.

I see there is snow just a little south of us but nothing here. That's a good thing, I need to drive to Muncie to pick up a birthday cake for my great granddaughter's first birthday.😊

There's an area in southern WV/southwestern VA - yes libby, Bluefield is included - that are under a winter storm warning from 8am this morning to midnight tomorrow night.  8-12 inches of snow are in the forecast for those areas.
