I chose to build my house in Madison County, Anderson, in 2007, and after the first 4 months in the home I have regretted that decision ever since.

Property values are still declining, and the city government runs amuck because the sheep who live here allow them to. They don't seem to care.

Empty homes are multiplying in the sub division where I live, and instead of these empty homes selling, they are building new instead.

Empty homes are multiplying all over the city as some of the sheep wise up and flee, decreasing the revenue streams and increasing the "creativity" of the scoundrels the population of this city continue to allow to remain in office. (I realize this a similar problem nationwide surrounding the empty home thing).

And while property values continue to nose dive, the evaluations for assessments in this city continue to escalate! (There's some of the "creativity" for yah).

Then there's the whole "perception" thing, as the miscreants in this city continue to grab national attention, (and local), through their debauchery, fornication, and leadership via attrition style.
It has become so bad that when visiting a hill-jack area of the country I was asked where I lived in Indiana. When I told them they immediately parroted the teen mom, Dirty Driving, sexual miscreant propaganda that continues to permeate the media surrounding this city. . . and I was ashamed. (I have since taken to saying I live in a suburb of Indianapolis. Helps me save face).

If I had it to do again, at this moment in time, I would build ANYWHERE but Anderson!

I expect that come Wednesday morning, we will all see an example of the voting public's enablement of this crap continuing. (MY vote will not make anything change).

EDIT: And for the record, as soon as property values and the housing market allow me to, I will sell this stall and move my ass right out of Andertard just as fast as I can!

I had a friend who lived in and worked in Anderson.  He said, "you know what is worse than living in Anderson?  I said I didn't know, what is it.  "owning a house in Anderson.

And they keep the Wigmam and build a sports center for tournaments.

Y

So, have we reached a conclusion?  Is Anderson trash or not?

I think the place looks like a war zone and I wouldn't live there again.  It's a shame because at one time Anderson was a decent place to live and raise your children.

I know one thing, this place needs some REAL stores and not the stores that offer junk at quality prices.
I've never lived in any city that did not have at least a handful of major stores in its local "mall". This city has none of these. About the only thing they have is a Sears, and unless I'm giving everybody hand - power tools for Christmas, I can't shop there.

This city is indeed trash; with no hope of rising from the dump until the majority of its miscreant population wakes the hell up and does something about it!

Muncie isn't too far behind it, but at least they've got Ball State and a Mall with better stores in it. But stray off McGalliard and you'll see neighborhoods that rival those of Ander-tucky for most ghetto-like ambiance!

Just look at all of the major stores like J C Penny has left Anderson.  Why, because there isn't enough money in the town to keep them.  Anderson is just another victim on globalization, out sourcing, just like Flint and Pontiac Michigan and many other town and cities in America.

IMHO Anderson got fat and sassy, and rolled the dice in depending upon General Motors to "always be here". They left because of the mismanagement of the company and it's bargaining units union representation; period. And the leadership and citizens of the City of Anderson have for the most part, chosen to play the victim card instead of picking themselves up by the bootstraps and doing what needed to be done to attract new business to the community. In fact Anderson had at least a decade of time to get that done before it impacted the entire nation, as it has at this point. Had they done so, things would be vastly different right now in Anderson.

But it isn't. Instead, leadership failed to lead, and failed to make the decisions that were best for the community instead of re-election possibilities. And the majority of the community was too busy playing victim, (and many still are), to notice they were being taken advantage of or to even care.

The best I see for the future of Anderson is "bedroom community" status; with most of its future citizens commuting 30-60 miles each way to their work each day. There are far too many communities across this nation for this city to compete against, and with little to nothing to offer to entice them here, that would compete with the rest of the field, the sooner this city faces its future the better off it will be.

That means some very hard choices should be in our very near future. Choices that involve the reduction of public services, including police and fire, and an annual operating plan that remains within the CURRENT revenue streams of this city. And that revenue stream shrinks more and more each and every week that passes. No longer can this city continue to provide the level of public service that it enjoyed when companies like GM were within its boundaries. No longer can it continue to provide the same level of services it once could afford when most of the available housing was filled; for today in many of its neighborhoods 1 in 4 of those homes now stand vacant.

The people of Muncie voted out their mayor for making those hard choices, but I am thinking that unless the new mayor continues down the hard road Muncie's former mayor had to travel, they will soon be where the city of Anderson is destined to arrive; and that is ruination.

Yes sir, yes sir.  Since GM and all of the other business that have left, who had paid a lot of taxes to Anderson.  The Taxpayers are going to have to pick up the load to keep Anderson from becoming another Flint Michigan.
