Don't forget Michael Dugan - fired by Cheney - 1990.

Yeah, and the guy who McC replaced was fired as well. . .

I sincerely hope that the members of congress involved in the confirmation hearings for McC's replacement, do not let their unspoken policy of practicing obstructionist politics infect the process and delay his confirmation.

Doing so would be a huge slap in the face to our men and women in the theatre of operations, as well as a major setback toward progression within the initiative.

I cannot imagine anyone not accepting Petraeus....I think he was a GREAT pick...

You  can't get to the top of the military or a large corporation with out being or thinking your a big Prick or Dick.  It comes with the job, it's called Power.

A military source close to Gen. David Petraeus told Fox News that one of the first things the general will do when he takes over in Afghanistan is to modify the controversial rules of engagement to make it easier for U.S. troops to engage in combat with the enemy.

Troops on the ground and some military commanders have said the strict rules -- aimed at preventing civilian casualties ...have effectively forced the troops to fight with one hand tied bhind their backs...

You know, I wish we could go back and fight these wars like we fought the World War II war.  We killed them, we smashed them, we tore up every thing they had  and we made the enemy jump through the hoops we gave them.  If they didn't we killed them or we put the lousy asses in prison for a long time.  Our enemy would damn well know who won the god damn war.  No ands, ifs or buts.

When your in a fire fight with the enemy kill all of the son of bitches, let god separate the out the good ones.  If we had fought these wars, the way wars should be fought, these wars would have been over 4 years ago and the Military complex and the predatory capitalist wouldn't be so rich.

In Wars and Battles second place sucks.  If you're going to fight, fight to win and fight to do it in the quickest time.  Time save lives and money.  I like what General Le May said about Vietnam.  Give me 7 days and SAC and we will win this war.  It pretty hard to fight a war out of a bomb crater.  The people and government didn't listen and you see what it got us.  Nothing, but 54,000 of our boys killed and millions and millions of dollars spent.   For Nothing.

I thin Petraeus was the better choice in the first place...he organized the surge in Iraq and was very, very successful despite what his adversaries kept saying.....he got the troops he asked for, and a green light to fight the war the way it needed to be fought, and in a short time, we accomplished his task and had very few to no casualties....

What ever the man says we need to win the assigned mission in Afghanistan, our POTUS needs to fully comply with him and support him.....not give him 1/2 of the troops that is asked.....I'm also curious, how our POTUS is going to handle his promise to pull out our troops next year....I hope and pray that we are in a position to actually do this....it is time to bring this whole thing to an end.
