I would say that it's global warming because it's a proven scientific fact that human's activities increases the impact of the processes global warming and there are still people foolish enough to believe it isn't true. That disbelief isn't based on any type of scientific research, so it's dangerous in and of itself.
The GWOT which we've invested a large portion of our military, billions upon billions of dollars and countless lives is making headway (based on right wing propaganda) and/or putting the fear of Gawd and American in their tiny terrorist hearts, so eventually (should be soon considering) there will be nothing to fear there, because it's being taken care of and If it isn't, then we need to reevaluate and determine why we're still investing lives and money into something that isn't working.
Maybe the GWOT is the biggest threat.

Islamic Jihadists want us wiped from the face of the earth and, if left unchecked, can do it in a lot less than 100 years from now. (The 100 year figure comes from the statement that the earths temp is going to raise just under 1 degree in that amount of time).

On the contrary, knowledge of global warming has been around long before Gore brought it up. You may not like the messenger, but his information is something that's supported by facts.
For instance, looks like Bush's buddy brought it up before Gore:

I guess they didn't mention that on Fox

So you're saying that the GWOT has been a failure?
Why do you assume I get all my info from Fox News? I have also been known to watch the Discovery channel and the History channel from time to time. I am also old enough I have witnessed temperature extremes in 7, 10, 15, and 20 year cycles. What's Gore gonna say when we go through another extreme cold cycle? Destroying the rain forest is doing more harm than anything.

I'll admit the Fox news thing is something I like to toss in because it's true, but it irks Fox watchers. If it's such a creditable news source then why feel defensive?
As for being old enough to experience weather, I think most of us have, but what many of us haven't done is scientific experiments on the changes in the weather and the effect of pollutants, deforestation, overpopulation, etc. Scientists have though and their findings leave absolutely NO doubt that humans contribute to the acceleration of Global Warming. Have you read the report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change?
Oh and you didn't answer my question about the GWOT.
No, it is not a failure unless we pull out. If we do that it will be like an admission of defeat. In the meantime the military shouldn't be having to worry about whether they are going to be paid or not while the dems pull their little tricks with the funding bills. I still think terrorists are the bigger threat.
Don't ya think Gore has a little bit of monetary interest in the global warming thing there? Don't you think he profits by making sure he can convenience people it's real? Do you think if there was no money to be gained he would be pushing it so hard?
Don't you think Bush is doing just a little more on a personal nature to preserve than Gore. Shouldn't Gore practice what he preaches instead of buying "carbon credits" from his own company?

Apples and Oranges
Bush has done little or nothing for the environment.
"Saddam's goal ... is to achieve the lifting of U.N. sanctions while retaining and enhancing Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs. We cannot, we must not and we will not let him succeed." -- Madeline Albright, 1998
"(Saddam) will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and some day, some way, I am certain he will use that arsenal again, as he has 10 times since 1983" -- National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Feb 18, 1998
"Iraq made commitments after the Gulf War to completely dismantle all weapons of mass destruction, and unfortunately, Iraq has not lived up to its agreement." -- Barbara Boxer, November 8, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retained some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capability. Intelligence reports also indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons, but has not yet achieved nuclear capability." -- Robert Byrd, October 2002
"There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat... Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons. He's had those for a long time. But the United States right now is on a very much different defensive posture than we were before September 11th of 2001... He is, as far as we know, actively pursuing nuclear capabilities, though he doesn't have nuclear warheads yet. If he were to acquire nuclear weapons, I think our friends in the region would face greatly increased risks as would we." -- Wesley Clark on September 26, 2002
"What is at stake is how to answer the potential threat Iraq represents with the risk of proliferation of WMD. Baghdad's regime did use such weapons in the past. Today, a number of evidences may lead to think that, over the past four years, in the absence of international inspectors, this country has continued armament programs." -- Jacques Chirac, October 16, 2002
"There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein's regime is a serious danger, that he is a tyrant, and that his pursuit of lethal weapons of mass destruction cannot be tolerated. He must be disarmed." -- Ted Kennedy, Sept 27, 2002
I can't help but go back to these....they say so much to what is going on...
are these more lies or did Bush make these up?
This war on terror is the biggest threat this world has ever faced....this is not politics....when we was attacked, the political walls came down...there was no repubs or dems....we was americans, who witnessed the jihad in front of our eyes....they WILL do it again, people...
we took out hussein because EVERYBODY felt he was capable of harming others or us, if he could get his way....we took him out.....
we got to quit playing politics and defeat those who want to continue to do so......can someone explain to me, who is pulling out, going to keep us safer on this war?.....do you think that, if we do this, they will stop?.....we ARE destroying them by the minute right now....if we pulled out, we would HAVE to wait until they attacked us again, before congress would have the gonads to do something again....
My opinion is, big deal, if we can make our global temp cease by .007 degrees by the year 2050.....our MAIN focus should and must be on those who want us dead.....
slam me all you want.....see if I'm wrong, if we get another attack on this land.....who is going to worry about, how many suv's are here or not......
Okay....if the GWOT is a success then why are terrorists the biggest threat?

It amazes me how you cannot take a little ribbing, you like to dish it out, but whine when it gets tossed back at ya...
Who's whining? I'm just addressing your postings with you point blank. (It's funny that when someone vigorously defends their position instead of backing down, they are immediately accused by the other side of "whining" or "not being able to take a joke".) It appears to be you who needs the cheese in this instance. You posed the original question. It's you who has to defend it and your subsequent rationalizations.

You started this thread based on a "talking point" (probably parroted by you after you heard it babbled by some drug-addled radio host). Then you pull the "save the white children" card to bolster your crumbling argument.
Where did I mention "white Children"???....uh uh oh...I didn't!..get your facts straight before you accuse people of something... ;)

bull crap C...you attack me everytime I post something by accusing me from "parroting" something from a "drug addled radio host" or faux new or CNS...you don't know diddly poop about me....but yet you stero-type me....
You have not addressed nothing with out putting in you wisecrack about something....that is why, I usually don't waste my time to your comments...

The whole world, eh?
I just Googled your question.
It doesn't appear on page one. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Which+is+the+bigger+threat%3F)
As a matter of fact, it appears that Cats, MySpace, Facebook, Cyber-Crime, Bird Flu, Pirates, Volcanoes, Obesity, and Iraqi Bitterness are all thought to be bigger threats to the world. There is a statement about "The Axis of Evil" but that's just from a White House press briefing.

I stereotype you because you're stereotypical. If it doesn't come off some bumper sticker or out of the mouth of Michael Savage first, odds are we won't hear it from you.

fact is, I rarely listen to any of them...I listen to dennis miller once in a while, or hannity for about a half hour on my way home....other than that, I get my news from the internet.....drudge or pat dollard...and here...that's it for me...

And actually this was your question (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=radical+islamic+Jihadists+or+Global+Warming&btnG=Google+Search). Not a real hot button issue judging by the lack of correlations.

well it got a pretty good response on here.. ;)....I think it was a pretty interesting question...why is it, the left goes with Global Warming and the right goes with GWOT....
and I'm not slamming the left...there are just two vastly different views on what is important issues...

Ok C91 heres a little test for ya since you think global warming is such a threat see how much you really know about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I went back through this whole thread and don't see where I took a position on one side or the other. (I did say that organized religion is the biggest threat to the world, but Henry says that doesn't answer his question. I guess I'm just not cooperating in this game of "Do you still beat your wife?".) So, take your little test and cram it.
C, you are just sterotypical..... :rotfl: :thubb:
Me, that IS a pretty interesting site....thanks for sharing...
You're welcome. :)

I took the test and discovered that it's a little light on the facts. I took a closer look and my guess is that in the past 4 years that quite a bit has been learned about global warming.

4 years old, me. Give me a break! It's not about being political correct, it's about it being incomplete. Either that was intentional OR the dated material is incomplete because scientific studies have produced more evidence since then.
Your assertion doesn't even pass the common sense test.

A little credential checking is in order here. The website is maintained by Monte Hieb and Harrison Hieb. Now who are they?
http://globalwarmingwatch.blogspot.com/2006/04/end-of-our-epoch-all-in-good-time-2.html (http://globalwarmingwatch.blogspot.com/2006/04/end-of-our-epoch-all-in-good-time-2.html)
"If I am looking for an 'education' on mining engineering, I would possibly consult Monte Hieb, since he worked as chief engineer for the West Virginia Office of Miner's Safety.
But he is not a climate scientist, which is why he has not published any scientific papers on causes of global warming. A search through the peer-review scientific journals where all new claims are tested and confirmed by scientists specializing in the field shows no ground-breaking advances in understanding by Monte Hieb or Harrison Hieb.
If Hieb is not interested in advancing scientific understanding via the time-honored peer-review method, it's most likely that his agenda is to create the impression that there is scientific doubt about global warming. A conspiracy? Who benefits - well, his employer - the coal industry. While the public believes there is doubt among scientists, there is less political will for a carbon tax. So people like Hieb publish junk science to create the public conditions that help the fossil-fuel industry stall the inevitable tax on carbon emissions."

...why is it, the left goes with Global Warming and the right goes with GWOT....
Because the left, being generally more educated and free thinkers, understand the ramifications of both points of view. Whereas the right, being more dogmatic thinkers and unwilling to accept that they may be wrong, won't even acknowledge that global warming exists. Why do we face a threat from a "hoax" after all?
