Here is an article by John Stossel, where he interviews Michael Moore about Governments role on benevolence....I think John does a good job of explaining how, most or at least my take on the conservative view is about this...if you get a chance, read it... ;) :)

That's a progressive taxation issue (something to which, IIRC, you, being a 'conservative' - read 'reactionary' - don't ascribe), which should be handled by those who benefit the most paying the lions share for that privilege.

Are we talking the United States Government?...because that is a broad question... ;)
Our Gov...was designed to give us....a life of liberty and the pursuit of happiness....with protection of our properities....
