Then.. :confused:Why did you bid on it .......I know...You are tying to keep you better half, HAPPY..
Hopefully it works out for the best...maybe you'll win the lottery.
it could happen!
its just nerves. laying out my next 40 years. big big loan.
awol, if you have doubts then you should not do it...but, realize, you got too live somewhere, and buying is always cheaper than renting...and, a home is where you are going to raise your family and hopefully build a lot of memories there, so, find a place that you and your wife is going to enjoy, and belly up..so if it is at all affordable, relax and have fun with it...worse case, you sell it in a couple of years, and probably make a small profit from it..or at worse, you walk away...it's only money...
okay, i'll shut up now...
Nothing wrong with whatcha said...why buy a house you aren't going to be happy in? Just push y'self a little harder to make it work!
(at least that's what I keep telling myself right now considering the house we want is about 50k more than we wanted to spend & the taxes are double what we pay now) ;D
If you don't mind my asking, where's the house, sunny?

(you've got mail)
Awol, it is nerves. Signing something and commiting to the next..did you say 40?...years of your life is a scary step. However, nothing beats walking into YOUR house for the 1st time. It's home and it feels great. You'll be fine.
Did you hear anything yet?
no news, sorry. gonna try to get another showing of the place soon. maybe have some pics to show.
that's a bummer...don't they have to give you a response within so many days? our sellers were given 24 hours. not sure now how long they'll have to consider our counter counter-offer.
I think it's supposed to be 24 hrs., but I'm not sure.
not really. just some contact with the realtor that sort of implies they aren't happy with the offer...
"care to look at another place...?"
Sounds like it wasn't meant to be...how much was your wife's heart set on it?
No counter-offer even?
I agree with Sunny, but you had a little bit of misgivings anyway, so maybe that was your sub-conscious telling you that it just didn't feel right. Maybe if you look at some other places then you'll find one that "feels" better. Then again, you've probably looked at a lot already.
<nodding at what Mojo said> That "feeling" is tres importante..if you've got it about a house, you should go for it.

nothing yet. she isn't the one pushing for this house. she wants something less expensive. and a formal dining room is important to her. (this place is an eat in kitchen)
It's cute though. I really like the rec room and the yard looks huge. A lady at work, just went through this process and she'd fall in love w/a house and get disappointed. Finally, she found the house that she actually ended up buying and she said that she knew when she stepped on the porch that it was going to be hers. I didn't bother to ask her if that wasn't how she felt about the other houses. She's happy. That's all that matters. Best Wishes guys.
It is very nice, awol! The yard looks very kid friendly & great for entertaining...if they take the pagoda, I could envision a jacuzzi taking the spot on the patio!
I'm assuming the rec room is in the basement? Finished basements add so much more square footage, especially on a ranch-style home!
One question - what is the finish on the kitchen walls? I can't tell if that's faux painting, wallpaper, or something else?
Good Luck!

Ahh...I see...it's interesting.
For some reason, I'd be tempted to paint those cabinets white. But they're beautiful the way they are!
Hey, did you guys buy the house?!?
they turned down our last offer (which was 10k under tax value). they want to build. so i'm guessing that if someone offered what they are asking at this point, they would hold out till spring. but we have another offer in the works(a couple k over tax value). we'll see. :-\
Hope you guys get what you're looking for. Thanks for the update.
thank you.
so many of the people we show the pix to just say "well, it's a very nice house" while they are thinking "it's far too nice a house for you".
Feel free to share pics with us!!!!
Does that mean you got it? <crossing fingers hoping you say "yes>
it's not official yet. the pix i have are on page 2 of this thread.
Oh, I read that as if you were putting another offer on a different house. Gotcha. It's beautiful.
Cool house! Hope you get to call it home soon!
Well, I have my fingers crossed for you. That's a great house.
today was the deadline to hear from them on a counter. i guess we didn't get it. shit.
Oh man, awol. Sorry to hear this...sounds like aren't very motivated to sell the darn thing. Grrr.
They day is not over yet!!
Maybe they forgot today was the deadline?

update;
they pulled the house off the market for the winter cuz they didn't get the offer they wanted. we plan to re-offer in the spring depending on how our raises go.
well. we bought a house. it isn't the one i wanted, or the style of house i wanted, but my wife took one look and fell in love with it.
it's a two story center hall design, four bedroom 1 and 3/4 bath. solid as a rock, clean as a whistle, and all mine (the day after i die).

i'd like to, but it's not really up to me.
it's "in town"...sort of. it's a town of less than 5000 people.
I really like it too. It looks so peaceful. Is all of that your yard? That's so rare anymore. I'm thinking lots of room for the kids to play, but I'm also thinking mowing, landscaping and snow removal. LOL I love that kitchen too.
it's also a block from a park, a church, and a bar...
something for everyone!

my wife's baby sister is just college age, and she wants to move into our old place, (close to school) so that's one less thing to worry about!
Yeah for you!

actually hoping for a lil' jet, but we won't know until she's born. (jet's a little funny that way)
Nothing wrong with waiting until the creator wants you to know what sex the child is! My daughter did that as well. Makes the whole experience that much more memorable in my opinion!

I used to be a little funny that way, I went through 5 waiting until they were born to find out, but by the time I had the last 4, I was hoping for a boy so badly, I had to know. You would have thought when the 7th was a boy, I wouldn't have checked the last two, but I was still hoping for that son. (some of you know the story there). Anyway whatever it is, awol, let's just hope it's a healthy child, and drives you nuts until it's 18. :)
Woohoo for you! (awol et al.)!
Without prying...any updates for us, awol?!?
not really any updates. she's had her second appointment, and everything seems to be on track.
no news is good news. ;D
