I did as well. It was a night to remember, although it is sad to say that it was tempered by the idiotic, conservative, so called "leadership" and their statements that clearly demonstrate we are staring straight down the throat of two more years of obstructionist political tripe from them.

Not to mention their bleating sheep. The results were not even official, nor the speeches given, and my FB page was littered with calls for impeachment of the soon to be president-elect.

These self-proclaimed "patriots" are the assholes who cannot see that the people have spoken with their vote -- the very definition of patriotism.

Yet, they deny it by demanding the voice be stilled by a minority who wish a reversal of the decision.

I cannot imagine a deeper definition of hypocrisy fueled by racism.

I can't help but wonder about the next cycle. Who will the Democrats and Republicans put up next time around. Maybe Martin O'Malley vs. Chris Christie (if Limbaugh will allow it.)

Right now, Christie is the front-runner.

As long as he doesn't step on his projection.

I think the republicans have several young, talented men and women coming up in the ranks.  Chris Christie will be one.  There will be Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan and a guy named Robert Dold from Illinois will all be people, in my opinion to keep an eye on.

If the Republicans are capable of learning anything from this election, they will NOT allow Paul Ryan to run. His views on women are too extreme. They may as well run Akin and Mourdock.

I actually think O'Malley has a good chance. Most people here in Maryland love him. He has made our schools the very best in the country for the past several years in a row.

Besides, he has his own band and plays guitar.

Obama really won, Maddow said. "And he really was born in Hawaii, and he really is legitimately President of the United States, again, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics did not make up a fake unemployment rate last month, and the Congressional Research Service really can find no evidence that cutting taxes on rich people grows the economy, and the polls were not screwed to oversample Democrats, and Nate Silver was not making up fake projections about the election to make conservatives feel bad, Nate Silver was doing math, and climate change is real, and rape really does cause pregnancy sometimes, and evolution is a thing, and Benghazi was an attack on us, it was not a scandal by us, and nobody is taking away anyone's guns, and taxes have not gone up, and the deficit is dropping, actually, and Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, and the moon landing was real, and FEMA is not building concentration camps, and you UN election observers are not taking over Texas, and moderate reforms of the regulations on the insurance industry and the financial services industry in this country are not the same thing as communism."

I'm sure I won't be, you sad, biitter, old crow.  Unlike you, I don't hold the majority of my fellow citizens in contempt, I don't believe that most people would rather sponge off of the government than feel the pride that comes from working to obtain their goals (a foreign concept to you, I'm sure), and I believe that Americans are, first and foremost, benevolent people who steadfastly believe that we all benefit when everyone has a chance at the American dream.

"Turd blossom" is a Texan term for a flower which grows from a pile of cow dung.[1] As Turd Blossom, the term has gained notoriety in the United States as a sobriquet that was reportedly assigned by former U.S. President George W. Bush as a term of endearment for his former chief political advisor, Karl Rove.[2]

I watch Fox sometimes for the same reason. I try to catch Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace -- especially enjoy it when Juan Williams is there to stir things up. As for Carl Rove, I went to bed after Obama was declared the winner and didn't see his election night meltdown, but the next day I actually felt embarrassed for him as he was being interviewed by an attractive definitely not dumb blonde Fox newscaster who kept asking him what went wrong -- and he kept going back to criticizing Obama.

Early Returns
Claim:   Two television stations aired 2012 election "results" early.

   TRUE

Origins:   The effort to keep apace with the modern 24/7 news cycle can at times cause news outlets to goof. Such was the case with a couple of news stations that in mid-October 2012 inadvertently publicly broadcast graphics they believed they were merely testing in-house.

Normally, such mistakes are merely chuckled over before being dismissed in favor of the real news of the day. However, the nature of what was broadcast by each of those two stations made at least a few people wonder if the fix wasn't in for a particular candidate because each displayed results for the 2012 presidential election, an event then over two weeks away.

Election results

The first to do so was KPHO, the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. On 19 October 2012, those watching The People's Court saw for 17 seconds a graphic at the bottom of the screen which stated President Barack Obama had been re-elected, winning 43% of the vote nationwide to Govenor Mitt Romney's 40%. (The graphic did not account for the other 17%.)

Ed Munson, KPHO's General Manager, said of the occurrence:
On Friday, Oct. 19, during a test of KPHO CBS 5's election returns software, we inadvertently aired a test graphic for about 15 seconds in an episode of Peoples Court. The mistake was caught quickly and taken off the screen. With the election about two weeks away, the TV station routinely tests its equipment to ensure our viewers have the very latest results on election night. We regret the error and apologize to any viewer who was confused by the mistake.
The second station to err in similar fashion was WCPO, the ABC affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also on 19 October 2012, it mistakenly aired a graphic intended for in-house testing, one that announced President Obama had won in Ohio by a 46% to 39% margin. (The Indiana graphic was an exact copy of the Ohio one, save for the name of the state.)

Ohio election results

As with KPHO, WCPO didn't have the inside track on whom the voters will favor, let alone by how much. Both instances were attributable to station error.

Even so, it will be interesting to compare the "results" broadcast over two weeks earlier with the actual 2012 returns.

She has no idea how to evaluate even simple research.

Her opinions are so hair-brained that it's nearly impossible to understand any point in her post.

Not worth the work to unscramble the egg.

Ya dumb ass. All Snopes did was to fact check what happened. They reported the facts.

If anything, Snopes proved itself to be an independent fact checker.

Snopes is not responsible for some technician's choice of names and percentages.

Other pundits hit it right on the nose with the same predictions.

What the hell is wrong with your wiring.

I shouldn't even be explaining this to you -- if you had a brain that worked, you would have understood it for yourself.

Exactly why I used the terms "stupid," "irrelevant," and "dumb ass."

In my non-internet life, it is an extremely rare situation when I use even one of those terms.

But then, I rarely encounter such a deliberately obtuse individual.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie may have to reconsider his plan for an across-the-board income tax cut if Hurricane Sandy does enough damage to the state's revenue stream.

If the U.S. government ends up careening off the "fiscal cliff," Republicans in Congress stand to shoulder most of the blame, according to a new poll released Tuesday."

"Fifty-three percent of Americans said Republicans in Congress would be more to blame in that instance, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted in the days following the election. Twenty-nine percent said that Obama would be more to blame, while 10 percent said both the president and Republicans would share blame."

I don't mean to cry poor, but I sure wish I'd have had food stamps in my undergrad days.

I came from a home that did not have running water in it.

Ate bread sticks that I stole from restaurants in the area.

Went back later and paid for my bread sticks (and other assorted foodstuffs that I stole), only to find out that the waitresses knew I what I was doing all along.

I was so ashamed.

Gave the owner what I thought I had stolen, and he said he really didn't care; that we (obviously, there were others) would eventually do enough good in the world that, for him, it was an investment in the future.

That man taught me the difference between a greedy, nothing-is-enough owner, and a caring, thoughtful businessman.

A bunch of us got together and made sure he was able to retire and take care of his family.

Amazing man.

Helluva guy. Stayed in contact with him and his family for years, until he and his wife both died.

Then why don't those who have made millions in a business think the same way?

He obviously didn't have millions, but he helped others anyway.

Imagine if all the corporate raiders, the fat cat CEO's and CFO's, etc. combined their efforts.

There's only one answer as to why they don't.

Greed and ego.

More toys, more homes, more one-up-man-ship at the club.

who says they don't FTW?  I would bet that many of those "rich" owners and stock holders are very generous....You have no idea if they are selfish or giving....just because they are affiliated with a corporation does not mean they are evil.

Many of them are great philanthropists -

William Barron Hilton, co-chairman of the Hilton hotel chain who pledged late last year to give away 97% of his wealth—some $1.7 billion—to his family's humanitarian foundation

George Kaiser - CEO of BOK Finanial, from 2004-08 gave $2,377 million to charities...

Waltons - the world's richest family is also one of the most united when it comes to philanthropy. The secretive Waltons commit the bulk of their gifts through the Walton Family Foundation, which supports a variety of charitable causes.

The evil David Kock -  gives around $100 million every YEAR for some cause....a couple of years ago he gave $100 million to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to fund cancer research...he gave over $400 million from 2004 - 2008 to charitable causes.

Home Depot founder Bernard Marcus gave $290 million to the Marcus Institute for children with disabilities and learning disorders, Autism Speaks (a national autism organization), and a state-of-the-art bioterrorism unit at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

These guys do not HAVE to do this........but they do.

Check and see if there is a sales tax on real estate in NY before you jump to conclusions Troll.  He may have had to charge him $50 to keep him from having to pay that or a gift tax on the actual amount the real estate was worth.

 I can relate to your story. There are good people everywhere. When my father was dying of cancer and my mother had to apply for welfare, I was working at the local hospital and taking college classes part time, and helping my mother take care of him. My boss, a doctor, said the hospital didn't pay me enough to live on so used to hand me money out of his own pocket. I didn't want to take it (too proud) but did because I needed it. And the local pharmacist who filled my father's pain and other medication prescriptions charged me the bare minimum, told me I could pay a few dollars a month but if I couldn't afford that, not to worry about it. I am who, what I am today because of the kindness and generosity of those dear men and others like them.

Troll, have you not ever heard of gift tax?  If it was worth over so much and was given as a gift there would be a gift tax which would go by appraised value so it had to have a sale amount to keep from having to pay a gift tax.  If NY has a sales tax on real estate, some states do, it would have been charged at the appraised value just like sales tax on a used car, which is why some car lots work with you on the way they write your receipt.

Indeed he does and no one is questioning whether or not he deserves to be handsomely compensated.  The question becomes whether or not anyone is actually worth more per hour than most of the people in the country make in a year and/or whether or not he would continue to do the job if he made, say $10 or $20 million instead of $140 million?  I would submit that he would and further evidence of this is that he did.

Now let's explore your bullshit a bit further; shall we?

See, the problem I have is this...you defend someone making more in a day for providing 5,000 taxpaying jobs than the Postmaster General makes in a year for providing more than 550,000 taxpaying jobs.  So Donahoe manages more than 110 times the number of people for less than 1/250th of the pay and you somehow feel he's over-compensated?

Additionally, the USPS must, by law, continue to provide mail service to every address in the United States, faces very real losses in revenue due to technology (email, etc.) and is restricted by Congress on how much it can raise rates every year.  I would say Donahoe faces a lot more challenges for the relatively small amount of money he makes than someone running a public/privately held corporation.

So what is your issue with it?  Oh, yeah, this...

QuoteNow THAT is greedy bastards.......using the peoples money.

Unfortunately, all you are doing with this statement is showing your ignorance.  The Postal Service receives NO tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. They are required by law to cover their costs.

Here's some other things you probably don't realize:

The Postal Service has the world's largest retail network — larger than McDonald's, Walmart and Starbucks combined (in U.S.).

The Postal Service can and does compete with the private sector — and it collaborates, too. UPS and FedEx pay the Postal Service to deliver more than 400 million of their ground packages to residences and the Postal Service pays them for air transportation — taking advantage of their comprehensive air network.

The Postal Service is the only organization in the country that has the manpower, network infrastructure and logistical capability to deliver to every residence and business in the U.S. and its territories.

An independent assessment by Oxford Strategic Consulting named the U.S. Postal Service the best postal service among the 20 largest economies in the world. Criteria included the average number of citizens served, the number of letters and parcels delivered, service reliability and public trust.

The Postal Service is environmentally friendly and is a respected sustainability leader. It was promoting sustainable practices long before doing so was encouraged, mandated or governed.

Mail is a great communication tool. No monthly plans. No signal outages. No roaming charges. Regardless of geographic location, anyone can send a letter for just 45¢ anywhere in the United States and its territories.

Mail is reliable, trusted and secure — federal laws protecting the sanctity of the U.S. Mail are enforced by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The Postal Service has the world's largest civilian fleet and the world's largest alternative fuel–enabled fleet of vehicles.

The Postal Service delivered 168 billion pieces of mail in 2011 — facilitating $10 trillion in commerce.

I would submit that, considering the magnitude of the operation and the restrictions under which it is forced to operate, Donahoe earns every penny of his paltry compensation, especially when compared with the compensation of CEO's of corporations.

Let me tell you this Henry, if the Postal Service is loosing money on a nonprofit model, no private business is going to do it.  The Postal Service has shut down post offices cut hours, but yet they as a private entity has to go to congress to get a fee raise.  They can't drop unprofitable routes, unprofitable states, unprofitable counties and unprofitable rural areas.  Like United Parcel or FED EX and the airlines can and does stop service to unprofitable areas.     The Postal Service has a pledge to congress to do this in all 50 States.  Neither snow or rain nor heat nor gloom of night stay  these couriers service from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.  Period!

Henry, I know you won't believe this, but you can send a piece, part, bees packages practically anything to anywhere in the 50 states and overseas.

Right now and it has happen to me, if United Parcel doesn't want to deliver to my house, they leave it as the post office.  It has happened to me several time and it is happening all over the country.  Especially Alaska.  But I suppose you never heard of that, have you?

Why don't you make a little search about why they are loosing money.     Oh, oh, I know it's all the greedy unions fault.  :jester:

As you put it, waitress, hat check girls, male servers, valets, hair dress, barber, and door men don't need or want a tip or Christmas gift.  Hell, I give my newspaper man $50 Christmas gift for years and he puts my newspaper right next to my door, rain, snow or shine and I do appreciate it.  It tickles me to see the neighbor's newspaper spread all over the place, out in the middle of the yard when there is a foot of snow on the ground and  mine is right next to the door.      Two years ago I blew the snow off my neighbor's drive way and ran over 2 different day newspapers.  :haha:

My barber gives men over 65 a hair cut for $6 and I give her $10 and Christmas I give her twenty.

What is with you, you don't think that someone who gives you good service needs a little love and money.  "ME" you can :azz:  SCROOGE  :grinch:

And Boobie Bear, what in hell does this have to do with real estate tax in New York and about the Billionaire cheap ass giving his door man $50 for Christmas.  Give me a break, Boobie Bear.   If I was a Billionaire I would give my door man $13,500 for Christmas and to tell him to have a good Christmas for his kids and wife.  And I would suprise everyone who gave me good service from my pocket change, big tips.      You know you need a real life makeover, for you're sure sick now.   :thubb:

Henry was as it David or was it Charles Kock that gave his door man at his multimillion appartment in New York City $50 for Christmas.  Old Scrooge at work.
Oops my bad.  I misread your statement.  For some silly reason I thought you said he gave him an apt, as in condo, for $50.  Duh, I think I need sleep.  As Gilda Radner used to say...."never mind".

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—Florida Republican Rep. Allen West conceded to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy on Tuesday, two weeks after the Nov. 6 election.

West challenged the results that showed him about 2,000 votes short of Murphy in Florida's 18th Congressional District but was unable to persuade local officials to grant him a full recount. He released a statement on Tuesday saying he plans to take "no further action to contest the outcome of this election."

"For two weeks since Election Day, we have been working to ensure every vote is counted accurately and fairly. We have made progress towards that goal, thanks to the dedication of our supporters and their unrelenting efforts to protect the integrity of the democratic process," West said in a statement. "While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election."

Another proud moment for our president.

By Andrew MalcolmPosted 11/21/2012 09:06 AM ET

For someone alleged to have grown up in Asia, Barack Obama is repeatedly clueless about customs there.

It's one thing if you're a tourist. But as the president of the United States? More problematic.

You may recall earlier trips there, part of his apology tours, when the Democrat president was bowing to just about everyone. In Japan, Emperor Akihito in a gesture of hospitality stuck out his hand for a Western greeting rather than expect a bow as he would from a subject.

Maybe Obama skips his protocol briefings too. He shook the Emperor's hands and bowed, very low like the gardener. Not like a visiting head of state. One or the other, bucko. Not both. (Scroll down for the excruciatingly obsequious photo.)

This week's trip was a quick three-country campaign swing to Thailand, Cambodia and Burma, part of what Obama touts as his second-term policy pivot toward Asia.

The president's safely back in the people's White House this morning with his wife and mother-in-law, having recaptured his Wednesday by flying through the night on Air Force One. He's home just in time for today's important duty of pardoning two Thanksgiving turkeys. No, not Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

On this trip to Asia Obama, to his apparent delight, became the first sitting president to visit Burma, if you're keeping a scorecard for his presidential library someday. Yes, the president did mispronounce his host's name and did call the country Myanmar, which is not yet U.S. policy. But at least the Harvard grad didn't say they speak Austrian there.

The trip highlight for Obama, however, was visiting Aung San Suu Kyi, the world-famous dissident who actually did something to earn the Nobel Peace Prize, unlike some recipients. She underwent years of isolation, oppression and house arrest while speaking out for democracy in her now moderating homeland.

She consented to appear jointly with the president on her front porch. Both spoke briefly, she more cautiously than he.

Eager to take advantage of such a photo opportunity before the world media, Obama leaned in for a little kiss, as a Chicago pol might at a South Side rally where women would squeal for a presidential peck. Obama is a big political kisser. He kisses females everywhere. Introduce him at a rally, you get a kiss. Hug too, probably. He knows the ladies love it.

But Asia ain't Hyde Park. Public kissing, even between husband and wife, is rarely seen. Between a man and woman not married it's downright outrageous, even scandalous. So Obama's presumably affectionate but impolite, totally out of place smooch created an international moment more awkward than a first date.

Aung San Suu Kyi appeared to instinctively pull back from the male suddenly entering her personal space. But Obama's arm was wrapping around her.

Turning her face away, she eventually consented stiffly to the foreigner placing his lips on her cheek to avoid a scene. She did not reciprocate, even with an air kiss. Or a gracious smile.

At least our president didn't pat her on the head.

You would have read and seen much about this mortifying moment in American media had the pursuing president been George W. Bush. What an endlessly replayed hoot that would have been.

But since in this case the diplomatic klutz was Democrat Obama, just move along please. Nothing to see here. XOXO

Boner and Four Eyes Cantor hasn't got the message that they lost the election.     So I just might think it's over the cliff we go.     When you got someone by the balls they eventually give up.
