Any idea what it costs to obtain a Master's degree and what it costs to live in the Chicago area?  Why is this any concern of yours?

You do know that Henry is a SCAB.  Even tho his dad was a GM/UAW employee and member and Henry used all of the benefits dear old dad got, he's still a SCAB.  Plus dear old dad is living pretty good off that UAW pension.     Henry thinks just like a SCAB and since the school teachers are union members they don't deserve any good wages or benefits like he doesn't have.

You do know what a SCAB is?  A person who want to stand on a working person's throat, keeping the people down on low wages, no benefits and having no power against the  predatory capitalist business or corporations.   :trustme:

It you could find a dead whale on the bottom of the sea and turned it over, the worms on it's bottom eating it, that would be SCABS.  :trustme:

They live in a metropolitan area with one of the highest costs of living in the country as well.  Salaries in all professions reflect differences in cost of living depending upon where the hiring entity is located.  Is this so difficult to understand?

They turned down a 16% increase in pay.........pretty good for a f'd up economy.  and btw, I don't care WHERE they live, they still have the 2nd highest in the country....

uh, do I really care if YOU think it is none of my concern?  Really Ex?  Your learning ability must be hindered a tad.

I'm tired of Unions taking advantage of good things....they already have a great pay with great benifits and they want more, when our economy is struggling.

How in hell do you think they got those good wages?  They got them because the banded together and because they had a skill trade, teaching and they made the powers that be pay them a good wage.   :dam:

They are not like you Hawk, where you have to kiss ass, brown nose the boss to get a raise.  How long has it been since you got a raise, Hawk?  That is why you're jealous Hawk.  They work together and they get things done.  All you have going for you is to kiss ass :kissit:

If you were in the Electrical Union you sure would be making more money for your skill trade in the company than you are now and probably have more benefits say like a pension, not a piss ass 401K.  That is one thing I like about being in the union, you don't have to kiss ass :kissit: or brown nose to get a raise.  :trustme:  Don't blame the unions for you situation, you did it to yourself.  :haha:

Neither are you; maybe you should worry less about what's going on in Chicago and more about how you can help the schools there in Madison County turn out students who can correctly conjugate the most basic verbs in the English language?

Union teachers have one of the only jobs in the country, where they can still get a raise for NOT doing their job.  As a mater of fact, the get a raise for doing a poor job.  THAT is why Unions suck.  You can suck at your job and expect the owner to give you a raise.  Raises should be earned.

No, it's full of irresponsible parents who don't give a flying rats ass about their children; and the one's that do cannot spend the quality time they need to with their children because they're both holding down either a job that requires 60+ hours of their time every week, or working a second job, or both, just to make ends meet around there.

I know what I am talking about since I hail from the greater Chicagoland area, spent the lion's share of my life calling that place home, and currently have 3 children living there along with 2 grandchildren, and a host of extended family members. So yeah, I do have a dog in the hunt there, and I say bully for the teachers in this case.

You do realize that real estate taxes in that area of the state would amount to 6-8 times what those of us pay in the state of Indiana don't you? And they do not enjoy the 1% tax cap that people in Indiana do, so their taxes go up all of the time.  Not to mention a 9% sales tax on food and all other goods one buys. (More in the downtown districts). And the state of Illinois taxes the hell out of your income as well in comparison to Indiana. So that 76k would equate to about 30k in Indiana dollars, roughly.

I recall being taught by teachers throughout grade school and high school, that had to work at local grocery and retail stores in addition to their teaching jobs growing up. They never got paid enough for what they have to deal with, in their personal and professional lives, in that state. And what they have to deal with in the schools is enough to turn your hair white and keep you up at night.

They may be the second highest paid in the nation, but they earn every red-cent of it and then some.

Get some perspective before you go trashing teachers. Anywhere.

As an interjection here, teachers in most areas are under compensated for the very important and valuable service they provide.  Our collective future depends on them in a larger measure than most people stop and think about.

A teacher with a master's degree, 30 additional credit hours, and ten years of experience, can expect to earn $87,513 in Evanston this year; last year, in Oak Park, a teacher would have made $88,978. In Chicago this year, the same teacher will earn $75,711 — about $12,000 a year less.

I too agree, I just despise the teachers unions, I think too many are putting their own self interests ahead of the children.  I'm also saying not all who belong to the union are bad teachers, but there ARE teachers who should NOT be teaching, but they are there because of the pay and NOT the children.

Ass hole you despise all unions, why, I don't know.  I know they never did anything bad to you Henry.  It hard to tell where SCABs come up with their stupid ideas.  I could think that a lot of your problem Henry, with you and unions is that you are jealous and because you don't make as much money as you should.

What really bothers you is you know with the education you have in your skilled trade, you would be making a lot more money if you were a union member.  But you're stuck in that SCAB SHOP and ass kissing is the only way to receive a raise in pay.  Knowing that you don't have a contract with your company and they can fire you for not reason.  Fire you without a hearing and have security escort you ass out the door.    Just think your whole life revolves around kissing ass and brown nosing just because you're a SCAB.  :kissit:  Henry.  :haha:   Boy would I love to be a Low Pay White Shirt SCAB.  :haha:  Boy O Boy do I love my UAW.   :smitten:

Troll, I just think they are a greedy, crooked organization, who are not looking out for the best interests for America and its citizens....they want power.  Sure at one time, many unions were good and had a noble cause....I just don't see it anymore.  They are "ruining" this nation.

I am very happy to be employed by a gracious American.  I have been here for over 11 years, and I enjoy my job.  What more could I want.  If he was forced to pay MORE money, when the money is not there, then I, along with others, NOT have a job, that I enjoy.  It is THAT simple.

I got to agree with you, the unions are not working for the interests of Americans generally.  The union are out to protect, to get contracts for their members and work for the union dues payers.  They are not out to protect you or anybody else.  You think the whole world is to revolve around your ass.  Not so Bunky.   Bunky, who do you think the American Medical represents, just in hell do you think the American Bar Assocation represents.  Two of the largest and richest unions in America.

I think the Republican party is a evil organization.  They are definitely not out for the best interest of the American people.  The new GOP is a party for the rich, by the rich and to the rich.  I despise and hate the Republican Party.  Probably more so than you hate unions.  The UAW helped your dad and provided for you as a child some many many benefits that many children never had and you bite the hand of a union that help your family survive.  :jester:  But you think that your dad should have gave up his good pay and benefits for the betterment of Anderson, Indiana.  Bullshit.

Henry, for a 52 years old man, I have never seen someone so inflexible, unrelenting, hard headed, homophobic, racist, selfish, religious zealot bigot in my whole life.  Just where to you get that the whole world revolves around your ass.  Bunky your so damn wrong about so many things it is incomprehensible.

If you hadn't noticed I added something to your post.  I hope you like it.  :haha:

But there is about 33% of the voters here in America that think just like Henry and "ME".  You see it in every poll taken.  Just watch the polls and see how many people is against Medicare, Social Security, Medicare, ObamaCare.  How many people are tax cuts for the rich and all things for the rich and corporations.

It's the 33% of the Far Right Wing Religious Christian groups.  Who are racist, homophobic, selfish, against gay marriage, abortion. against rights for women and want to destroy the unions.  It's the religious 33% who want to run this country and force their religion down our throats.     Never, never as long as I can hold a gun in my hand.  Long live a free America.  :4th3:
