Six Months to Go Until The Largest Tax Hikes in History
http://www.atr.org/six-months-untilbr-largest-tax-hikes-a5171##ixzz0sX3WaKRD In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:
Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:
- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%
Higher taxes on marriage and family. The "marriage penalty" (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits will be cut.
The return of the Death Tax. This year, there is no death tax. For those dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a retirement account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones.
Higher tax rates on savers and investors. The capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The dividends tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011. These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.
Second Wave: Obamacare
There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare (http://www.atr.org/obamacare-taxes-final-tab-a4744). Several will first go into effect on January 1, 2011. They include:
The "Medicine Cabinet Tax" Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription, over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).
The "Special Needs Kids Tax" This provision of Obamacare imposes a cap on flexible spending accounts (FSAs) of $2500 (Currently, there is no federal government limit). There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children. There are thousands of families with special needs children in the United States, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education. Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in Washington, D.C. (National Child Research Center (http://ncrcpreschool.org/page.php?pid=11http://ncrcpreschool.org/page.php?pid=11http://ncrcpreschool.org/page.php?pid=11)) can easily exceed $14,000 per year. Under tax rules, FSA dollars can be used to pay for this type of special needs education.
The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike. This provision of Obamacare increases the additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.
Third Wave: The Alternative Minimum Tax and Employer Tax Hikes
When Americans prepare to file their tax returns in January of 2011, they'll be in for a nasty surprise—the AMT won't be held harmless, and many tax relief provisions will have expired. The major items include:
The AMT will ensnare over 28 million families, up from 4 million last year. According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center (http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/numbers/displayatab.cfm?DocID=2702), Congress' failure to index the AMT will lead to an explosion of AMT taxpaying families—rising from 4 million last year to 28.5 million. These families will have to calculate their tax burdens twice, and pay taxes at the higher level. The AMT was created in 1969 to ensnare a handful of taxpayers.
Small business expensing will be slashed and 50% expensing will disappear. Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly-deduct, or "depreciate") equipment purchases up to $250,000. This will be cut all the way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can expense half of their purchases of equipment. In January of 2011, all of it will have to be "depreciated."
Taxes will be raised on all types of businesses. There are literally scores of tax hikes on business that will take place. The biggest is the loss of the "research and experimentation tax credit," but there are many, many others (http://www.jct.gov/publications.html?func=startdown&id=3646). Combining high marginal tax rates with the loss of this tax relief will cost jobs.
Tax Benefits for Education and Teaching Reduced. The deduction for tuition and fees will not be available. Tax credits for education will be limited. Teachers will no longer be able to deduct classroom expenses. Coverdell Education Savings Accounts will be cut. Employer-provided educational assistance is curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be disallowed for hundreds of thousands of families.
Charitable Contributions from IRAs no longer allowed. Under current law, a retired person with an IRA can contribute up to $100,000 per year directly to a charity from their IRA. This contribution also counts toward an annual "required minimum distribution." This ability will no longer be there.

Democrats reject GOP's compromise on unemployment benefits...then they go on vacation
"The only reason the unemployment extension hasn't passed is because Democrats simply refuse to pass a bill that doesn't add to the debt," McConnell said. "That's it. That's the only difference between what they've offered and what we've offered."
Congress adjourns this week for the July Fourth recess without having passed a bill to extend unemployment insurance benefits to 1.3 million people who started losing them this month.
Democrats have been painting Republicans as unsympathetic to the long-term unemployed who will be unable to collect benefits, but Democratic leaders have rejected several offers by the GOP to vote for the bill if at least some of it is paid for.
Republicans, meanwhile, stood firm in their argument that extending benefits should not add to the deficit.
Voinovich told Reid he would vote for extending benefits if at least half of the extension could be paid for with unused money from the $787 billion stimulus package.

Okay, I missed that, and I apologize.....but this bill could pass with bipartisan support if Democrats would just agree to pay for the spending.....to me that is more of the issue, than the republicans filibustering to be fiscally responsible...that is getting lost in the news by the MSM....

The truth is the democrats had a chance to extend unemployment, but they chose NOT too.....because the republicans want to be fiscally responsible.......something that AMERICANS are begging us to start doing....but, the dems are playing politics instead of doing what is best for ALL of Americans....

While I am horrified that the bill to extend unemployment benefits died, I am more appalled at the refusal of both parties to work for compromise.
All the admin had to do to get this bill to pass was identify some budget cuts and (gasp!) tax increases to implement once the economy starts recovering. Even Nancy Pelosi acknowledged that, and seemed willing to do it!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/25/nancy-pelosi-on-unemploym_n_625812.html
Instead, we have an enormous fraction of the population who are about to lose all source of income, while the cake-eaters in Congress (BOTH parties) hold pissin' matches and play size games.
I know. Let's make them take a mandatory unpaid leave. These people need to live in our world before they make rules for it.
I've got a question, if George W. took over the presidency 2000 and he started with a 2 TRILLON DOLLAR surplus and after 8 years. George W. Bush and The Republican Party, at the end of 2008 with a 5 TRILLION DEFECIET. WHAT IN HELL DID THEY DO WITH THE MONEY! After only 8 years in office George W. Bush lost this country 5 TRILLION DOLLLARS.
Plus giving us two unfunded wars. Killing over 4000 of our soldiers. One unfunded drug bill. One unfunded educational bill. Deregulating all controls of the banks and stock market causing the start of a Herbert Hoover Depression. Plus many, many other crooked things, like letting BP destroy the Gulf of Mexico.
On top of that George W. gave the Big Oil Corporations and other Corporations large tax cuts, he wasn't content with that, he gave the Super Rich, the upper 10% of the people who own 86% of all of the money in the county, one of the largest tax cuts in history.
Then Henry Hawk, a big want a be (rich) and kiss the King's ass and rings. Wants to give Obama hell for not getting America out of this mess in just 18 months. The mess he and his George W. and his ass kissing (for the rich and their corporations) Republican Party did in 8 short years.
The Troll, To the Republican Party and all the it stand for. :kissit: :finger01: :tiphat:
first of all Mr. troll, get your facts straight, we only had a 200 billion dollar surplus, NOT a 2 trillion dollar one...and THAT was due to Newts, "Contract with America" ....
Second:
I am so tired of Obama and his "it wasn't MY fault!!!"...."I didn't do ANYTHING!!!"..."When I showed up here, Bush had already ruined the Country"...Bush did this!!!...Bush did THAT!!....
The bottom line IS, Obama voted for every spending bill, from 2005 on, under Bush!!!...look it up!!! he was right there voting to spend money!!!
If he didn't like the drug bill or medicaid bill, why hasn't he repealed it?
the fact is that Obama's is out spending what the republicans have spent the entire 8 years of Bush....and lets not forget we was attacked, had billions going to that and we had katrina which cost billions...
During the 12 years the Republicans controlled the Congress, the average annual deficit was around $104 Billion...and THAT did suck!!..THAT was nothing to be proud of, I will admit that....but during three years that the democrats have had control, the average annual deficit is now $1.1 TRILLION!!!
The annual REPUBLICAN deficit is the MONTHLY democrat deficit!!!
So when the POTUS yells..."I inherited this mess"....he got it from the democrat controlled congress...ONLY congress can spend money, NOT the POTUS..(BUSH)...he got the mess straight from the democrats!!!
So Bush's last year budget deficit was around 450 billlion dollars....Obama's budget deficit LAST year was $1.4 trillion!!!, come ON TROLL!!!!
Obama and the democrats did this!!!! they cannot keep on blaming others!!..
NOW, he is going to allow the Bush Tax cuts expire!!!...this is going to take the top marginal rate up to 39%....AND depending on which state you live in, along with Medicare taxes, State Taxes will be OVER a 50% tax rate...and these are the people that GROW the economy!!!!....keep taking away from the very people that invest in this Country, and we WILL see a depression....
and again, I remind you....our unemployment rate was 7.2% before we passed the nearly trillion dollar stimulus bill......and now we are 9.5%....it was HIS promises, that are being broken...not any republican promise...
btw, we are STILL at war, and it is escalating.....

even if I had backed the $787+ Billion dollar stimulus bill........it has STILL not produced the millions of jobs it was supposed to do...even if I had backed the health care bill.......he still spent nearly a trillion dollars....he has gotten his way with everything, despite my support....and our economy is STILL sinking....so, I am REAL sorry if I am not jumping up and down for this POTUS......and IF, I do lose my job, you can be DAMN sure I will be blaming it on Obama........he is driving us down the wrong path of SPEND, SPEND, SPEND!!!!.......the conservative way is to allow the American people keep MORE of their hard earned money, and allow them to invest and spend....THEY (WE Americans) know more than a few politicians do...we got to generate MORE federal revenue by increasing the work force NOT by spending or increasing taxes of those who do the investing....
Tell me troll, if YOUR personal bank account was gone, would you borrow MORE money to live on, or would you cut back your lifestyle until you could manage on what you made?....this is NO different......if it makes you feel better I will acknowledge that many, many, many Republicans ARE very guilty of this mess...but there is NO doubt in my mind that Pelosi and company have more than contributed to this mess..........we need Conservative measures........not spend, spend, spend and more and more "entitlement" programs.....we have got to fix this immigration issue for a start, THAT alone could do wonders for helping this economy.....like I have said before, if we would merely "suspend" for ONE year, the Capital Gains Tax for ALL business....the stock market would go crazy, consumer confidence would flourish and our unemployment rate would drop immensely...over a course of a few months........we cannot not buy our way out of debt.

Your previously quoted statement indicates that a POTUS (Bush) CANNOT spend - it is congress. . .
Then you say it is the POTUS's (Obama) fault when speaking of the current administration.
You are trying to ride both sides of the fence. . . The power of the office does not change based upon what party holds it. . . That you change your views based upon who holds the office is indicative of hypocrisy. . .

No I am NOT, I merely pointed out for obvious reasons, that it is CONGRESS that spends....but it is the POTUS, that is the leader and has veto powers, and I stated that BUSH allowed TOO much, he did NOT veto when he should have....and as far as Obama, he has HIS congress passing HIS agenda's....and YES, THIS democrat congress has by far out spent ALL eight years of Bush and his congress......I am NOT riding both sides of the fence....I have NEVER changed my views....they are the same now as they ALWAYS have been....Washington is out of control...and more so now than ever in the history of this country....

I will say it ONE more time, Obama is leading this country into bankruptcy or another depression, and it will be of NO fault but his own....his lying and his allowing this congress to spend, spend, spend is putting us on the verge of serious, serious problems....and it is NO ones fault, NOT Bush's...Not the past or current republicans....it is ALL Obama and HIS democrats (Pelosi and Reid).....time will tell us the truth.......IF and WHEN November proves that Americans are aware of what is going on, we will see a change in the powers of Washington.....

Henry, I believe you're sincere in all of you eloquent words. But you know like I know your not going to win enough seats in Washington to change a damn thing. Troll the democrats and republicans are not any different as far as BOTH play dirty politics to get back into power.......the dems demonoized Bush and Chenney beyond recognition....both have agenda's to keep themsleves employeed....they BOTH suck when it gets right down to it.....what it DOES come down to is ideologies on particular issues....I'm just a firm believer in allowing the free market and enterprise....and keeping Washinton out of as much as possible....I know we need regulations and laws to protect us from the greedy bitches out there....but, PLEASE don't act as if the republicans OWN THE COPYRIGHTS TO GREED....the democrats (and republicans) in Wasington are only there to look out for themselves and how to keep themselves more and more powerful...
If you think any differently then you are more foolish than I thought....
With ALL of my heart, I believe that the Obama agenda of Government ran (fill in the blank)___________ is bad for Americans.
Entitlement program mentality is what is ruining this country......Our Constitution did not say that anyone is entitled to anything but the right to pursue happiness. I don't want a bunch of buearcrats in washington deciding HOW best to spend other peoples hard earned money....Not one person is "entitled" to free this or free that....just the opportunity to be able to purchase whatever they want or need is all I that is entitled.....IMHO.
So this November, I hope and pray that we have a return of congressmen who ARE nothing more than the voice of the people...I can careless if it is repub or dem or libertarian.....and I hope and pray that THE people who vote are informed with honest solutions to today's problems and take REAL concerns with issues that we all face and put folks back in charge that will achieve these problems....
I know I get all caught up with bullshitting back and forth with you.....many times I'm just being hardheaded and arguing with you because I am one of the few here on the zone who disagrees with MOST of the stuff you are for....but, I want more than anything for this Country to become prosperous for ALL Americans....the way things was 50 - 60 years ago.
You say you want thing the way they were 50 of 60 years ago. You don't know what they were like, 60 years ago, you were not even a glint in your father eye at that time. 60 years ago I was 12 years old and I know that my family and a whole lot of people didn't have it that good. We still getting over World War II and the Korean War. I know, I was there.
50 years ago, 1960, we were coming out of a Eisehower ression and then Kenndy was elected and the economy took off, good time were starting to begin. I know I was there. From the time I graduated until 1958 I was looking for a good job. There weren't any.
We had good times until old Newt Giingrich and his bull shit, contract for America things were good. But one thing I still can't get over is, how fast and how bad it got under George W. in 8 years. You guys sure fucked up things real good.

That is because you have "tunnel" vision....you have been raised to "think" democrat...."democrat GOOD - republican BAD"..... and THAT is part of the problem we now face.....too many folks still think of JFK when they think of democrat......JFK was pretty conservative and was NOT a liberal.....todays democrats is for the most part, LIBERAL......not so much for the working class as they used to be.....but for the "entitlement" class.
Henry, born in 1960, just 50 years old and your dad a GM/UAW worker. You don't know what a bad times are. If you have, then you didn't manage your money at that time. You play Grasshopper like a lot of people I knew. People who had champagne taste on a beer budgets. Buying the best and everything they wanted at one time, only to have it fall in on their heads.
You can't imagine the fine RV trailers, cars and boats I have bought from people who was going bankrupt. The 23 foot Rinker Cuddy Cabin Cruiser, just like brand new, I bought at almost 50 cents on the dollar and my present 17 foot SeaRay Fish and Ski boat, coming out of bankruptcy, for about half prise. This boat was so new, there was no stone chips on the trailer. Why because I didn't have to have the best or brand new. When I went for my pilot licence, I would pay cash for a 10 hour block of plane time and get a 15% cut in the price.
I'll tell why I so bitter about the Republicans, all of my bad times were under the Republicans. I hope this don't happen, your bad times are coming and it will be under the Republicans and what they have done to us.
I know what bad times were and they were not of my making. But they sure made know what a dollar means. I have payed cash for everything thing I have bought since 1980. For years and years I put at least $135 a week in the Ford Credit Union. My, you don't how money adds up and with my plumbing contractor licence working of the outside, going into the pot. If my wife and I wanted something, we paid cash or we didn't buy it. The young people of today don't think that way and you can see it.
$20 Million spent on democrat propaganda, at the cost of the taxpayer....
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/signs-stimulus/story?id=11163180 (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/signs-stimulus/story?id=11163180)
As the midterm election season approaches, new road signs are popping up everywhere – millions of dollars worth of signs touting "The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act" and reminding passers-by that the program is "Putting America Back to Work."
As the midterm election season approaches, new road signs are popping up everywhere – millions of dollars worth of signs touting "The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act" and reminding passers-by that the program is "Putting America Back to Work."
One state brags it posts signs but manages to keep the process cost-effective. The Tennessee Department of Transportation boasts, "There are a total of 324 signs statewide for a total cost of $12,931 and an average of $37.67 each." The reason for the small cost, they say, is that their signs are small-- about equal to a speed limit sign.
In response to questions by ABC News, Jill Zuckman of the Department of Transportation said, "The best estimate is that states have spent about $5 million of the $28 billion spent on road projects on signs – or less than .02 percent of overall project spending."
Still, some Republicans are crying foul. Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to Earl Devaney, Chairman of the Recovery Act and Transparency and Accountability Board, requesting an investigation to "determine the scope and impact of the Obama administration's guidance" regarding signs to stimulus recipients.
Rep. Issa writes that the passage of the Stimulus Bill, "has provided an opportunity for the Obama administration to claim political credit for the various projects around the country that have been funded by this redistribution of taxpayer dollars."
At the center of the controversy are a series of guidelines provided to stimulus recipients. In the letter, Rep. Issa cites what he calls "perhaps the most overly political guidance on stimulus advertising" involving the Department of Housing and Urban Development and a stimulus recipient. According to investigators from the oversight committee, HUD provided the Office of Native American Programs with information on "signage requirements." The document suggested a sign template informing the public the projects had been, "Funded By: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Barack Obama, President."

Somebody was paid to paint the signs.

YYYAYYYY!!! Job creation!
Hell, I couldn't even type with a straight face.
Well if these braying sheep would just obtain a small bit of common sense and recognize the fact that the construction of the roads and improvements are the result of the federal funding, maybe then they wouldn't have to pay for signs to point out the obvious to them. But nooooooooo! They spend money on signs so they won't miss it and STILL they yelp about nothing being accomplished.
Tra - la. Ho-hum.
Amen.
20 million for propaganda.......that is all it amounts too.... ;) ...the man's ego is bigger than the economy...unemployment at 9.5%, our deficit over $1 trillion for this year....and we blow $20 mill on a political campaign?.. ...THAT is why there a millions of people going to tea parties... ;)

You'll be 10 years older by the time that happens, according to those whose experience and education qualifies them to provide an educated opinion on the subject! It took 8 years or more to get us here . . . it'll take twice as long to undo the damage done. . .
The prediction before the election was that, before two years had elapsed into the Obama administration, people would be pissed if the economic crisis hadn't been completely fixed.
Well, it has come to pass.
Obama has not been able to provide an instant cure, and, the short-sighted, instant-fix expecting society that we are demands that we adopt the role of the Queen of Hearts and start screaming "Off with their heads!!"
Forgetting, of course, the long, long road of excess and bubble-building we pumped through the economy.
Well, it defecated.
And the enormous mess we have left behind is OURS to clean up.
Yet, here we have those who demand that government stay the hell out of our affairs are now demanding that the government be accountable for cleaning up our mess.
Who says we don't have any comedy on the air anymore?

Best synopsis I have read yet! 8)
You know something FTW, you to an extent are very correct, but I tell you it would have been NO different if it was the other way around. The left was on Bush like stink on poo, on EVERYTHING he did. The right was on Clinton on everything he did. The left was on Reagan EVERYTIME he spoke.....that is the nature of this f'd society. The politicians are ruthless....and ALL of us fall right into it. I for one, do not like the liberal agenda. I do not want our government to get any bigger.....and I know McCain probably would not have made this country any better right now...I want a "limited" government...I know they HAVE to play a role in a certain amount of our lives.
I will give you one example of how I WANT the government to be accountable, but yet NOT be right there over my shoulder demanding things.....I honestly KNOW, that instead of the government deciding HOW to spend our money to "stimulate" the economy....they need to let US spend OUR money.....suspend ALL federal taxes for a short time, for business AND individuals, and watch out. The BILLIONS that would not be coming in for a short time, would resume consumer confidence, boost the stock market, and give us a hell of a 'stimulated' economy...too many politicians a wasting money with bureaucrat 'red tape' and returning "promises" to people who donors who paid for their campaigns...and watch the federal revenue grow.....I believe we GOT to quit with the PORK spending and return to the basics.......LET THE PEOPLE control the MONEY.....THAT is ALL I want to see again.
"LET THE PEOPLE control the MONEY.....THAT is ALL I want to see again."
And wasn't it "people controlling the money" that led to most of the investor problems; i.e, Goldman-Sachs, etc.? You know, the fraudulent schemes, etc. that got us into the collapse?
They don't want to hear that because such views have a "d" associated with them, and at the same time they fail to consider the ramifications of even allowing the "d" or "r" factor into the decision-making process. . .
Hype it up and scare the be-jeebus out of them! It has worked for decades and they seem to assume its going to work now. . .
:chick: Henry Hawk, Let us look at Henry, 50 years old, college educted, born to a GM blue collar union family. Lives in that Yuppie town of Pendleton. Who father work his ass off to send Henry to college. Now he a electrial engineer who is a anti-union bone head hard, Republican, who voted for George W. and his thieves two times and Bone head John McCain and SARA PALIN. Who is against paying taxes and want a small, small, small government.
Is now crying that Obama has lied to him and has not use the government to it's fullest power to turn the fucking, shitty pile of shit that George W and the thieving Republican caused in eight short years. This boy is truly fucked upped.
In 19 months he wants Obama to clean up this mess. Impossible. Even tho it has been proven he keep us from slamming directly into a Hoover Depression, still :chick: Henry cries.
The oil disaster, Henry expect Obama to swim down and plug the well. He blames Obama for not using the government, THE GREAT, LARGE GOVERNMENT fast enough and to spend enough money to cure this problem and still really doesn't want to blame BP.
Henry is like a little spoiled baby boy who trying to put a metal object into a electric outlet and his mom takes it away from and he pulls a fit, screaming, bawling, holding his breath until he turns blue, because he didn't get his way instantly.
To use a Analogy of what the Republican Party has done to America. Starting with Ronald Reagan, and Newt's and the Republican's BIBLE, Contract for America, George H. 42 creation of NAFTA calumniating with the eight years of deregulation of George W's. and his 40 plus thieves. This country was in a powered dive to the bottom. And poor Obama and Democratic Party has the control stick buried in the stomach, pulling 10 G's trying to get us out. Can we get out without a depression, we don't know. But with the Republicans walking in "Goose Step" saying No on everything who knows.
Using the oil spill to explain the years of control under the Republican Party is. It only took 8 weeks to plug the well, but the damage to the Gulf of Mexico will take years and years and years to fix. Maybe in our life time it will not be back to normal. I think it exactingly what the Republicans have done to America. And Henry as bright as he may be the electrical field, sure isn't the brightest bulb in the package when it come to figuring what the Republican Party has planned for the MIDDLE CLASS. They a want a United States of Mexico. Where there is the rich and the poor, no middle class.

I have been kind of quiet the last few days, been kind of busy at work and at home....but took a few minutes on my lunch break to read the following....
The Labor Department announced Thursday that initial claims for jobless benefits rose by 12,000 last week to 500,000 — the highest level since November and the third straight increase.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_economy (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_economy)
Workers are losing construction jobs in Georgia and manufacturing jobs in Indiana. Some of the layoffs are coming as stimulus money dries up and public works projects come to a halt.
seriously, WTF?
Obama and the democrats PROMISED, if elected, THEY would fix this mess....more specificly Obama stated that HE, had the solution, that this stimulus would keep unemployment from going over 8% (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106397685 (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106397685))
btw, we are near 10% and strong indicators are claiming it that will rise....
and to top that foreclosures are up 4% ( http://www.themoneytimes.com/featured/20100812/us-foreclosures-4-top-300000-17th-month-trot-id-10124195.html (http://www.themoneytimes.com/featured/20100812/us-foreclosures-4-top-300000-17th-month-trot-id-10124195.html) )
300,000 forclosures for the 17th straight month. One in every 397 houses received foreclosure notice from the lenders in July...
again, I know that you lefties say that is was "Bush's fault"....but it was Obama and company who said they WOULD fix things, but it is clearly NOT getting fixed, and facts are indicating they may very well get worse.....
THEY spent nearly a trillion smackers on a stimulus bill to make things better, and the economist are saying it is going to get worse...and the money is almost gone.
YET, the Obama's are now on their 6th vacation of the year....
I can only wonder what my friends on here would be saying IF, McCain and Palin was elected and they was vacationing after making such promises to fix things?
anyway,
Back to work....
From that article, it appears that you should count your lucky stars that you can end it with, "Back to work."

I am very nervous though, and despite what many of you may think, I hope and pray that Obama CAN achieve success, regardless of my political favor, and our economy begins to grow again...

And .... all of Obama's vacation days haven't exactly been time off either ...
• Last summer's Obama family trip to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Canyon National Park was altered to include town meetings in Montana and Colorado so Obama could address the growing furor over his health care plan.
• Their Memorial Day weekend in Chicago was overtaken by the Gulf oil spill. After the Obamas slept at their Chicago home for the first time in a year, the president got up and left for a daylong Gulf inspection tour.
• The Obamas' Christmas trip to Hawaii was interrupted repeatedly for briefings and comment on the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound jet.
• And last summer's Martha's Vineyard stay was marred by the death of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, whose Boston funeral Obama and his wife, Michelle, attended.
Okay, honestly, I don't give a damn, really. I know for a fact that the POTUS can never really get a true vacation, but I feel it is my patriotic duty as the resident right-winger to point out any and all things that my adversaries would jump on IF the tables was turned.... ;) ;D

Bin Laden not buried at sea, body moved on CIA plane to US
The body of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was not buried at sea, according to leaked emails of intelligence firm Stratfor, as revealed by WikiLeaks.Stratfor's vice-president for intelligence, Fred Burton, believes the body was "bound for Dover, [Delaware] on [a] CIA plane" and then "onward to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda [Maryland]," an email says.
The official version is that the body of Al-Qaeda's top man, who was killed by a US raid in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, was buried at an undisclosed location at sea in a proper Muslim ceremony.
"If body dumped at sea, which I doubt, the touch is very Adolph Eichman like. The Tribe did the same thing with the Nazi's ashes," Burton commented in another email. Eichman was one of the masterminds of the Holocaust by Nazi Germany. He was captured by Mossad agents in Argentina and, tried in Israel, found guilty and executed in 1962. His body was cremated and his ashes were scattered at sea over the Mediterranean.
"Eichmann was seen alive for many months on trial before being sentenced to death and executed. No one wanted a monument to him so they cremated him. But i dont know anyone who claimed he wasnt eicjhman [sic]. No comparison with suddenly burying him at sea without any chance to view him which i doubt happened [sic]," Stratfor CEO George Friedman replied.
"The US Govt needs to make body pics available like the MX's do, with OBL's pants pulled down, to shout down the lunatics like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck," Burton says in another message.
In another missive Burton says Osama's body "is a crime scene and I don't see the FBI nor DOJ letting that happen."
WikiLeaks began publishing Stratfor emails in late February. The archive was obtained by the hacker group Anonymous, which successfully attacked one of the firm's servers. More than 5 million emails were apparently stolen.
Stratfor is a US-based intelligence firm called the "shadow CIA" by some media. Among its clients are several US agencies and many big companies. The company relies on paid tips from informants placed in high circles of business, government and security all around the world.

HURT: Brutal week for Obama, the worst of his presidency
The past seven brutal days will go down as one of the worst weeks in history for a sitting president. It certainly has been, without any doubt, the worst week yet for President Obama.
Somehow, Mr. Obama managed to embarrass himself abroad, humiliate himself here at home, see his credentials for being elected so severely undermined that it raises startling questions about whether he should have been elected in the first place — let alone be re-elected later this year.
Consider:
• Last Friday, Mr. Obama wandered into the killing of Trayvon Martin. Aided by his ignorance of the situation, knee-jerk prejudices and tendency toward racial profiling, Mr. Obama played a heavy hand in elevating a tragic situation in which a teenager was killed into a full-blown hot race fight.
Americans, he admonished, need to do some "soul-searching." And then, utterly inexplicably, he veered off into this bizarre tangent about how he and the poor dead kid look so much alike they could be father and son. It was election-year race-pandering gone horribly wrong.
• By the start of this week, Mr. Obama had fled town and was racing to the other side of the planet just as the Supreme Court was taking up the potentially-embarrassing matter of Obamacare. While in South Korea he was caught on a hidden mic negotiating with the president of our longest-standing rival on how to sell America and her allies down the river once he gets past the next election.
• Meanwhile, back at home, the Supreme Court took up the single most important achievement of Mr. Obama's presidency and, boy, was it embarrassing. The great constitutional law professor, it turns out, may not quite be the wizard he told us he was.
By most accounts, Mr. Obama and his stuttering lawyers were all but laughed out of the courthouse. They were even stumbling over softball questions lobbed by Mr. Obama's own hand-picked justices.
• Mr. Obama closed his week pulling off a nearly unimaginable feat: He managed to totally and completely unify the nastily-fighting Democrats and Republicans in Congress. Late Wednesday night, they unanimously voted — 414 to zip — to reject the budget Mr. Obama had presented, leaving him not even a thin lily's blade to hide behind.
So, in one week, Mr. Obama got caught whispering promises to our enemy, incited a race war, raised serious questions about his understanding of the Constitution, and then got smacked down over his proposed budget that was so wildly reckless that even Democrats in Congress could not support it.
It was as if you lumped Hurricane Katrina and the Abu Ghraib abuses into one week for George W. Bush. And added on top of that the time he oddly groped German Chancellor Angela Merkel and got caught cursing on a hot mic.
Even then, it wouldn't be as bad as Mr. Obama's week. You would probably also have to toss in the time Mr. Bush's father threw up into the lap of Japan's prime minister. Only then might we be approaching how bad a week it was for Mr. Obama.
Not that you will see any trace of embarrassment in the face of Mr. Obama. He has mastered the high political art of shamelessness, wearing it smugly and cockily. Kind of like a hoodie.

Well, that's 1 opinion. It'll take tens of millions more that share it to make it anything more than opinion. . .
Let's see about the Hawk. He's against Medicare, he's against Social Security, he's against Medicade, He's against unions.
He's for the Ryan budget plan, He thinks the two wars that George W. started is good, He thinks the Republicans have learned about over spending and should be put back on to office and he thinks that the Christians should run the country and the super rich control it.
Well, I don't like anything he stands for and I sure don't want to stand by him or have him protecting my back. No way and no how.

But you Dingle Berries push the Republican line and there is no way I can agree with you on anything. You people have no heart or soul.

You sure did. You showed the large yard and the living room, as I remember some of it was Early American. You said you bought after you sold your home on the By-Pass. I asked if you also bought a big mower for the yard.
I sure wish I could go back and check the back post on you. Just wishful thinking. You also told me you weren't Republican and you prove that you lied on that one too.
Wrong again, think, Troll, think. It was your aunt and uncle who sold their house on the by pass. I never posted a picture except for the one of my puppy.

We went to Don's for the all you could eat ribs, too. They were great. Not a fancy place, remember the pigs painted on the walls? It was never as good after it tried to "fancy up".
When we lived across town I would drive all the way to Mace's to shop because they would always carry my groceries to the car. A very important thing for a very pregnant lady with a toddler in tow!
I remember when the bypass was two lanes all the way to SR67 and the traffic was terrible in the mornings and at quitting time. Actually it was still terrible at quitting time after it was four lanes. We lived about 1/3 mile from 67 and the cars would be backed up way past our house in the afternoons.I think they put in the other two lanes between 67 and Mounds all in one summer. That took a big chunk out of our front yard.
Ok, what does this have to do with posting pictures? The house was my parents, it was 1954, they never had early american furniture in their living room and the house is gone. I repeat I have never posted pictures of my house, just one picture of my cocker spaniel. I live in a 50+ year old ranch style house. You still are confused, Troll. If PH can go back to my old posts you can too. I started on here when they shut down the hb site in late 2008. Go to it, see what you can find.

I ask my wife if I hadn't brought her in to see the pictures of your house and lot. She said that I had and she remembered the big yard you had. You do have a big, big yard don't you.
Well, lets see, did you consider your aunt and uncle's yard big, well mine is smaller than theirs was. You know the neighborhood they lived in, drive through it and if you see a big house with a big yard let me know because I have lived here for 40 years and haven't seen one yet.

Pathetic, rude, ignorant, paranoid, un-informed, mis-led, obnoxious, arrogant, self-absorbed....are all names that come to mind, when I think of liberals. One does not have to look to far to see it displayed, EVERY DAY.
There was once a time, when this was not so. It seems to me, that the leadership of this Country, not just the POTUS, but those who are leaders of that given party, has magnified this, immensely.
That alone, is enough to produce a landslide victory for the republican party come November. My new approach to debating many issues has now come to this. Sit back, and watch. No need to run my mouth. Time, will reveal the truth. Staying firm on principals and beliefs is adamant.

All I know is, I do not want another four years of what we just had. Romney cannot do any worse than what we currently have. That being poor leadership. We have fewer Americans employed now, than we did when Obama first took office.
Despite all the bullshit and blame game....we are not better off than we were. He made the promises to create millions of jobs. He failed. He made the promise to cut the deficit in half, it grew by 7 trillion. He made the promise to cut out the lobbyiests.....he didn't.
I will admit, Romney is not the guy I would rather see as the republican nominee....but he is the guy, like it or not. I side with conservatism, any day over a liberal agenda. It is that simple.

First of all, Romney is not a Republican, he is not conservative, for he is a Mormon. He is for himself and nobody else. You seen his past record. Do you really like it, is it really good for man or beast (dog).
I don't believe we have less jobs than we had when Obama took office. I think you're stretching that fact and it is false. Where did all of the jobs go to while George W. was in for 8 long, long years. Where did all of our money go during George W's term. Who put Obama and us in the boat we're in. :titanic: It wasn't the Democrats.
George W. and the Republican Party put us in such a hole :dig: Nobody could have pulled us out in a little amount of time as 4 years. Not McCain and Palin or even Mormon Romney with the help of his cult. This Republican depression is here to stay for along time and nobody is going to cure this depression over night. The Republican platform isn't going to do it, but make it worse. :trustme:

I am not trying to make an issue about troll, but just saying if you are going to knock me, for making comments that you don't think she has support with, then be equal and fair.
"Romney is not a Republican"
I often hear Republicans call some of their own party members a RINO
"he is not conservative"
Many Republicans have said this.
"he is a Mormon"
He is.
"He is for himself and nobody else."
Opinion. Troll has the right to his opinion.
Bottom line - he has not made any false statements here. Unlike 'me' who not only posts lies, but goes out of her way to dodge and duck when she is proven wrong. Grapes in England - Obama wasn't president of the Harvard Law Review ........

No where did I say he was not president of the Harvard Law Review I was just givin' ya'll a hard time over it 'cause you seem to be sooooo impressed by that and I am not. Now if he had been elected to that position by collage staff or professors that would be one thing but to be elected to it by other collage students who are easily taken by BS is another. I know what's about to follow and I could care less so go for it but remember this I realize he can maybe give opinions and write/edit articles but he may have just handed it down to a jr. member to do his work for him for all we know. You know, that you do the work and I'll get the credit since it has to go through me thing.

Dumbass, why dont you consider the MASSIVE drop in revenues due to the economic cliff the US fell off due to Bush's policys. The downslide started mid 2007, sorry new president takes the helm in jan. 2009! Ship was sinking, obama just trying to bail out the water with resistance from all Republicans ! I hope gets on so we can blame everything on him...So what can I say to such a brilliant mind?
Plenty (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/who-spent-more-average-bush-vs-average-obama-spending-per-day-proves-obama-most-reckless-and-irresponsible-ever/#comment-17912):
Five things:
>1) When George Bush took office, we had suffered the DotCom bubble collapse and Bush inherited a terrible recession (a couple of facts: America lost $7.1 trillion in wealth (http://econdynamism.blogspot.com/2008/05/housing-bubble-vs-tech-bubble-loss-of.html)and the Nasdaq valuation lost 78% of its value (http://www.investopedia.com/features/crashes/crashes8.asp#axzz1Revy7u1D)). On top of that, America suffered the 9/11 attack because Bill Clinton had annihilated the military and intelligence budgets and capabilities (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/who-spent-more-average-bush-vs-average-obama-spending-per-day-proves-obama-most-reckless-and-irresponsible-ever/#comment-15471)in order to brag he "balanced the budget." The 9/11 attack created an even DEEPER recession because the American people were afraid to travel to vacation or do business for a long time afterward. Bush started out in a hell hole. But did you defend Bush, Charles? No, because you're a demon-possessed cockroach hypocrite and you will only see the world as a leftwing ideologue. It's like the gas price spike: when Bush was president, the rise in prices were all Bush's fault because Bush was president:But now Obama's the president and the fact that gas prices have averaged FAR more during Obama's presidency (gas prices have averaged $3.25 under Obama versus only $2.33 under Bush) isn't Obama's fault at all. The same thing is true of our spending and debt (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/07/27/obamas-spending-versus-bushs-yes-obama-is-spending-nearly-three-times-more-than-bush-did-and-dont-even-think-about-a-2nd-obama-term/)and the same damn thing is true of liberal hoity-toity issues like Gitmo. At some point every liberal skull will explode from trying to contain all the contradictions.
I wrote an article right after the election that pretty much sums up my views: "Do Unto Obama As Liberals Did Unto Bush (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2008/11/06/do-unto-obama-as-liberals-did-unto-bush/)." It comes down to this: by your own measure shall ye be measured. You don't get to attack Bush and Republicans for eight years by going after Bush like rabid pit bulls attacking bloody meat and then get sanctimonious with us. Dumbass. Especially when by any measure: GDP growth, jobs, household wealth, deficits, spending, debt, consumer confidence, or any other measure, the economy did FAR better during the eight years of Bush than it EVER has under Obama.
As we speak, only 14% of Americans think their children will be better off than they were, versus 65% who think their children will be worse off (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/jobs_employment/july_2012/new_low_just_14_think_today_s_children_will_be_better_off_than_their_parents). That is the lowest it has EVER been (http://www.christianpost.com/news/fewer-americans-than-ever-hopeful-for-childrens-future-79092/). Why is it Bush's fault that in the fourth year of Obama Americans overwhelmingly believe the nation is heading in the wrong direction under Obama's policies (http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/06/obamas_poll_wasteland.html)??? Even if Bush did everything terrible; shouldn't Obama have been able to improve from terrible??? But he hasn't; he's made "terrible" MORE terrible.
2) Do you know what sane people do (my bad - of COURSE you don't know what sane people do!) if they have less revenue? THEY SPEND LESS, YOU DUMBASS. But somehow your messiah never got the sanity memo so instead of spending less he imposed spending after spending measure and imposed levels of bureaucrats and regulators that this nation has never seen. You people are like the millionaire's son who pisses away his inheritance and then says, "Well, it's not like that means I've got to spend less or anything; I'm ENTITLED to spend more. I think I'll go buy a Ferrari and crash it after a drunken party And then I'll celebrate 'my recovery' by buying another Ferrari."
Even if everything you said was true – and it's not – we should be spending LESS. But what is your messiah doing? He's spending three times more and blaming Bush. That is morally and rationally insane.
Liberals have a GSA-view (http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/economy-a-budget/220205-gsa-spending-scandal-proves-need-for-budget-reform)of the universe. But as Margaret Thatcher once famously said, "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples' money."
3) Then there's the fact that Democrats were nearly TOTALLY to blame for imposing all of the idiotic conditions that led to your "Massive drop in revenues." "Bush's policies?" Bush tried SEVENTEEN TIMES (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/09/bush-called-for-reform-of-fannie-mae.html) to reform and regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac before it collapsed, you abject dumbass. Bush began trying back in 2003, and even the New York Slimes records that conservative economists were predicting back in 1999 that these stupid and immoral Democrat policies would explode the economy:>New York Times, Sep 30, 1999 (http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html): "Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits. [...]
In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980′s.
"From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us," said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. "If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry."
Barney Frank stated:"These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis," said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. "The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."
Just before the bankruptcy and collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2008, Barney Frank said THIS (http://digg.com/news/story/Barney_Frank_Freddie_Mac_Fannie_Mae_fundamentally_sound):REP. BARNEY FRANK, D-MASS.: I think
this is a case where Fannie and Freddie are fundamentally sound, that they are not in danger of going under. They're not the best investments these days from the long-term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward.
Dumbass,
IT IS A DOCUMENTED FACT OF HISTORY THAT FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC COLLAPSED ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2008 BEFORE ANY OTHER PRIVATE SECTOR PLAYER (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/business/08fannie.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&pagewanted=all&adxnnlx=1343676918-lHKlLgKaOkG/XH6wc/8T5g). Merill Lynch and Lehmen Brothers went down
AFTER the GSEs and
BECAUSE they suddenly found themselves holding billions of dollars in worthless Fannie and Freddie mortgage backed securities. That was because Fannie and Freddie had bundled thousands mortgages together into their securities such that there was no way to separate the toxic debt from the good debt. The entire system collapsed because the entire mortgage financial system suddenly became "toxic" due to that inability of the market to distinguish good debt and risk from toxic debt and risk.
ONLY Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to bundle those mortgage backed securities and then sell them to the private sector (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2010/11/08/more-proof-democrats-destroyed-the-economy-in-2008-the-ongoing-fannie-maefreddie-mac-disaster/).
THAT was what caused the housing mortgage collapse that led to our 2008 economic implosion. At the time of their collapse, the GSEs controlled 70% of all new home purchases. It was that supermassive black hole of Democrat stupidity and depravity that imploded America in 2008.
I've preserved all of that and more here (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2011/08/15/democrats-set-up-america-for-2008-collapse-and-barack-obama-became-their-king/).
If the above isn't bad enough, Obama has decided after demagoguing the crisis his party started in 2008 that 2008 never really even happened: he's going right back to the policies that blew up the housing mortgage market in the first place (http://spectator.org/archives/2012/07/27/and-you-thought-the-housing-cr).
If that isn't enough, consider that between Democrat-imposed Social Security boondoggle and the Medicare and Medicaid boondoggles, the REAL national debt is well over $211 TRILLION (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/02/03/lets-reflect-on-the-history-of-social-security-on-the-government-takeover-and-of-the-far-better-privatized-option-we-should-have-had/). Our real yearly debt under Obama is nearly $6 trillion in the red every single year (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/lying-obama-claims-he-didnt-increase-spending-as-usa-today-points-out-real-obama-deficits-actually-5-6-trillion-a-year/) until America implodes and dies when our credit rating goes down again and our interest rates skyrocket. And when you add to that the unfunded pension liabilities of liberal states like California and Illinois (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/democrats-have-murdered-america-watch-city-after-city-go-bankrupt-because-of-the-debt-bombs-democrats-planted-are-now-exploding/), we are well and truly screwed with Democrats being virtually entirely responsible for every penny of our unpayable and unsustainable debt that will necessarily bankrupt and kill America. And all of this government takeover has been imposed in the name of helping the poor when history proves it has done the exact opposite (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/05/10/democrats-war-on-poverty-has-been-a-war-on-america-that-has-done-nothing-to-help-the-poor/).
And you're going to blame Bush, you lunatic?
So you can take your "fell off due to Bush's policies" and stuff them right up your idiot pie hole. Bush's policies gave us an average 5.26% unemployment rate (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2011/07/12/you-call-it-obamanomics-i-call-it-the-jobs-holocaust/). When your messiah lives up to his lies come back and talk to me.
4) But let's consider that in conservative states like Texas and Nebraska and North Dakota (http://www.startribune.com/business/128854548.html?refer=y), the economies are surging and people from liberal states are moving to red states in DROVES to get jobs (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2011/07/05/hey-republicans-drove-us-into-a-ditch-liberals-put-this-into-your-pipe-and-smoke-it-conservative-economic-principles-rule-in-texas/)they won't ever be able to get from retards like Democrats. These red states and several other red states have balanced their budgets. So why can't Obama balance his damn budget instead of giving us four consecutive years of over a trillion in deficit for the first time in the entire history of the entire human race???
5) Obama told the American people that his policies would result in 5.6% unemployment by now (http://www.varight.com/opinion/obama-lied-promised-5-6-unemployment-by-now-if-stimulus-passed/) and there would therefore be millions of Americans paying lots and lots of taxes. Obama promised us his policies would generate 4.3 percent GDP growth (http://www.examiner.com/article/gdp-growth-the-latest-a-series-of-incorrect-obama-economic-forecasts). Where was that promised economic recovery (http://blogcritics.org/politics/article/where-is-the-economic-recovery-obama/) that would have obliterated the recession, you dumbass? You wouldn't need to be making your dumbass excuses now if your messiah hadn't lied to the American people. Now Obama has to rely on pure crap (http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2012/06/obamas-speech-signals-more-trouble-for-his-campaign.php)to sell his lies, just like you. But instead your antichrist messiah has given us the worst labor participation rate since Jimmy Carter broke America and Ronald Reagan had to put it back together again (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/rapidly-worsening-labor-participation-rate-now-lowest-in-more-than-thirty-years-under-obamas-failed-regime-please-look-at-history/). And if you compare Obama's policies to Reagan's policies (http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2012/07/28/senate-democrats-agree-with-obama-to-raise-taxes-on-1-2-million-small-businesses-and-destroy-700000-more-jobs-compare-their-failure-to-reagan/)you can understand why Reagan GREW the economy after everything went to hell and Obama is just going from bad to worse. So on your very "dumbass" view YOUR messiah is a "dumbass." Either that, or it's now your view that Obama LIED when he said he had a solution and he LIED when he projected that his policies would turn the economy around. I guess what you're saying is that it's really "Bush's fault" that Obama is a lying fool.
And which 'expert' wrote that?

Olias, Henry thinks it is good reading. Henry would think reading about Herbert Hoovers depression is a good book on how to run a government with the Republicans in control. :haha: :haha: It would be funny if we hadn't seen how George W. with the help of the Republican ran it for 8 long, long, long years. :puke:
In the wake of the recent cold-blooded murder of two NYCPD cops, Ferguson and Eric Gardner, I have been hesitant to put my thoughts to words. I just read a response by Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs guy).
I believe he sums it all up perfectly on how I feel about it.
Here it is: Responding to a question from a girl named Meghan about a riot in SF over these incidents,
Last week, those very protests blocked off one of the major arteries, and as a result, I was 90 minutes late to a holiday dinner in Alameda. I apologized for my tardiness, and was told by my hostess not to give it a second thought. "It's a small price to pay," she said, "given all that's at stake." Another guest, already well into the eggnog, wondered aloud if a heart attack victim waiting for an ambulance stuck in traffic might hold a different view?Within moments, everyone was talking about Garner and Brown, and the conversation got very political very quickly.
A liberal guest said, "Look, I wasn't there, but it seems pretty clear that both men would still be alive had they been white." A conservative guest replied, "I wasn't there either, but it seems pretty clear that both men would still be alive if they hadn't resisted arrest."This annoyed the liberal, who asked the conservative why Republicans wanted a "police state." This annoyed the conservative, who asked the liberal why Democrats wanted "total anarchy."
Things continued to escalate, and within moments, fingers were pointing, veins were bulging, and logical fallacies were filling the air. Ho! ho! ho!For once, I kept my mouth shut and listened as a roomful of decent people tore each others throats out.
It was remarkable, because no one disagreed on the big points. No one disagreed that black lives mattered just as much as white lives. No one disputed that racial bias in law enforcement should be exposed and eliminated. In fact, no one disagreed about the basic facts surrounding each case. The breakdown happened over relevance and context. My conservative friends were focused on the fact that both men died while resisting arrest, and were therefor responsible for their own demise.
They wanted to discuss the killings in light of the incredible risk that all police officers agree to assume. My liberal friends were focused on the fact that both men were unarmed, and were therefor victims of excessive force.
They wanted to discuss the killings in the context of historical trends that suggest bias plays a recurring role in the way cops treat minorities.By dessert, it was clear that both sides wanted law and order. But the conservatives were convinced that order is only possible when citizens treat cops with respect. Liberals, on the other hand, were arguing that order can only occur when cops treat everyone the same. And round and round we went. The chicken and the egg.
Later, on the drive home, I called a friend of mine back in Baltimore. He's black, successful, and hard-working. He also resents the way he's gotten swept into the zeitgeist of Ferguson. In his words, "I'm a pawn in someone else's agenda, and I'm sick of it. I know what bias looks like in my life. I'm tired of being represented by two petty criminals who died resisting arrest."I hadn't thought about it like that, but he's got a point.
The vast majority of black Americans have never broken the law. And yet, millions of lives are now entwined with the death of Brown and Garner. That's not fair, but it's hardly breaking news. Minorities are constantly stereotyped and the impression lingers. Looters and arsonists run amok, and Black America suffers the association.
Now I'm trying to get my head around the fact that two cops are dead in Brooklyn, assassinated by a lunatic in "retaliation" for Ferguson and Staten Island. Unbelievable. How much worse can it get for the millions of law-abiding minorities, struggling to be seen as individuals? How much worse can it get for the thousands of honest cops, trying to protect a citizenry that doesn't seem to appreciate their daily sacrifice?
A few days ago, people were marching in the streets, literally calling for the execution of police. ("What do we want? Dead Cops!") Others are standing by today, waiting to lionize the assassins who answer the call. These are not the champions of justice; these are the enemies of civilization, and it's up to sensible people on both sides of the aisle to close ranks and shout them down.
If we want to live in a nation of laws, we need to support the humans sworn to uphold them. They're a lot of really great cops out there who have promised to do that very thing, including the one in my family. We'd be screwed without them.
To answer your question Meghan, I support peaceful protests, and I'm all for rooting out bad cops. But let's not stop there. If we're serious about saving lives, and eliminating the confrontations that lead to the demise of Garner and Brown, let's also condemn the stupidity that leads so many Americans to resist arrest. I don't care if you're white, black, red, periwinkle, burnt umber, or chartreuse – resisting arrest is not a right, it's a crime. And it's never a good idea.
Mike

I tried to find evidence that is was fiction, but as far as I can tell, it's true.
And I still agree with it.
I absolutely support the right to assemble and protest. That's an American tradition protected by the First Amendment. However there is no right to:
1) Block our streets and highways, causing suffering for innocent motorists who are simply trying to get somewhere.
2) Damage property, including police cars. We pay dearly for those, so leave them alone.
3) Attack police officers who are simply doing their duty.
I, for one, am fed up with these useless parasitical agitators and I am for a return to water cannons and incarceration for anyone who does any these things for at least six months. Why are we tolerating this?
Why do you think they're protesting Hank?
Honest answer please.

Because they lost. Period. This generation want's free stuff. They thought they was going to get more free stuff.....now they THINK the world is coming to an end because of Trump.
At a minimum, at least wait until he has done something wrong.......so far, he hasn't hurt a damn person or thing.

Do you know what it is like to hold one of those weapons you are endorsing over the faces of your neighbors, your friends, and even your family? I doubt it or you wouldn't be so quick to call for their use.
These "agitators" were created by the vitriolic rancor utilized within the last 3 presidential election cycles. If you want to blame someone then blame congress and all of our other elected representation in Washington. They're the root cause for this situation.
I don't agree with what these protestors are doing entirely. Use of violence only begets violence. The 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago is highly reflective of what we find ourselves dealing with today, only they used the methods you endorse here.
I personally know several men that were National Guardsmen called upon to use force against their neighbors, friends, and family within the demonstrators. It messed some of them up for life.
Is that really necessary?

It doesn't mater WHO the blame is on........I agree congress played it's part........but it does NOT mean this is okay to break the law.....and that is what they are doing........innocent people being attacked? Traffic being shut down.....public and private property being destroyed?.....Police Officers being hurt in the line of duty?
You guys make me feel like I am on a twilight zone episode........I can't believe that some people are making excuses for this kind of behavior.......enough is enough. Time to end this shit! Obama needs to tell them to peacefully protest.....if they cannot do this, then the National Guard will cease this.....immediately.
No! it shouldn't be necessary....but, it is becoming obvious that it may. I am sickened by this to the core of my stomach.

Shutting down traffic is one thing, but beating people and tearing up their property is another.
These people are upset over the election results, and some of them are in it for the violence. It is a volatile situation that results in mob action when one or more of them begin the destructive behaviors. Mob action.
Blocking of traffic is the least of the issues here. Think about it. If you've got a chipped tooth and you don't feel anything other than some slight discomfort over the sharp edge hitting your tongue, you learn to avoid hitting your tongue on it until your next scheduled dentist appointment; if at all. . . But if that chipped tooth exposes a nerve ending and you experience pain, you're going to pay attention to it pretty damned quick.
Same holds true for protesting.
Traffic blacking gets people paying attention. Or used to. . .

That being said, I for one am not making excuses for the actions of these groups. Protesting is a necessary evil and a constitutionally protected right, but it doesn't extend toward imposing physical harm upon others or their property. I agree on that point.
But to react by calling upon military personnel to intervene upon civil unrest is a bit heavy handed. That is what the police are for.
If traffic blocking was the worst thing they were doing.......then I say lets ride it out. But they are getting more and more violent.
Be honest PH, if this was some rednecks doing this because of Hillary winning........you would be pissed as hell. Am I right or wrong?

Wrong. I'd feel exactly like I do right now. Let the police handle it.
This is escalating and already there are similar actions taking place in central Indiana.

Wrong all the way around Hank.
They're scared.
Can you tell me why they're scared? There's a clue in one of my previous posts where I responded to your, "You lost; get over it" comments.
Their scared because they've listened to the media lies.

There's no evidence it's true at all, or that it's any more than what I pointed out.
Agree with it all you want, it's still RW propaganda - and racist to boot.
BTW, where the hell have you been since you retired?

Of course you are, because besides your inherent racism - as evidenced again in your 'dog whistling' above - you're an authoritarian, except when you're a hypocrite and taking up for the same behavior from your RW ilk and Drumpf supporters.

Show me some videos of Trump supporters burning businesses and stopping traffic on freeways and in towns.
