I started to put this on the God Sucks thread, but thought it warranted its own conversation. Idiot boy Kirk Cameron is planning on handing out "modified" copies of Origin of Species.
From the website:
A recent study revealed that in the 50 top universities in the U.S. (in the fields of psychology and biology), an amazing 61 percent of respondents described themselves as atheists or agnostics. It's no wonder atheism has doubled in the last 20 years among 19-25 year olds. An entire generation has been (and is being) brainwashed by atheistic evolution, and it's radically changing the culture of our nation.
In an effort to combat this, we produced a special 280-page full color cover edition of Origin of Species, which contains a 50-page introduction. This introduction gives the history of evolution, a timeline of Darwin's life, Hitler's undeniable connections to the theory, Darwin's racism, his disdain for women, and his thoughts on the existence of God. It lists the theory's many hoaxes, exposes the unscientific belief that nothing created everything, points to the incredible structure of DNA, and the absence of any species-to-species transitional forms.

To hand out this absolute shit commingled with Darwin's work is off the fuckin' chain!
and I love it.....
I thought this was a free country?....
if you don't like it don't read it....isn't that the way it is supposed to be?...
Of course you would love it HH. It's dishonesty. Every single thing that's most likely written in that introduction is a lie. Take this for example.
Hitler's undeniable connections to the theory, Darwin's racism, his disdain for women, and his thoughts on the existence of God. It lists the theory's many hoaxes, exposes the unscientific belief that nothing created everything, points to the incredible structure of DNA, and the absence of any species-to-species transitional forms.
Connecting evolution to Hitler? Give me a break. He also tries to paint him as a misogynist as well. I'm surprised he didn't throw in pedophile and rapist for good measure.

This girl absolutely lampoons that idiot Cameron and this ridiculous idea. I LOVE her accent.
Now as an example of why I'm always railing against these idiots, take a look at this from their website:
As soldiers of Christ, we have been called into active service, but most of us have been more concerned about the order of service, than our orders for service. We have our battle orders from the Headquarters of Heaven to seek out those who are enemies of God in their minds through wicked works. We are to persuade and compel them to desert their sin. They must defect before the Great Day of Battle when the ultimate weapon of Eternal Justice will be unleashed against sinful mankind. On that Day, there will be no neutral ground..they will suffer the vengeance of eternal fire. God's justice will be thorough. Our message is "Surrender or be damned. Become a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven or forever be banished by the King of Kings into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.
These people and their simple minded fairy tales really are dangerous people. These assholes view science, rational thought, and logic as "wicked works." Scary that people think like this in this day and age.
Now pay attention HH. Remember, calling someone a nutjob requires proof and that's exactly what I'm laying out here. This is the other nutjob behind the Origin of Species (modified) distribution. Notice how he fondles the banana and listen to his words. It would be funny if it wasn't so damn scary that these nuts actually believe this undiluted bullshit.

BTW, it doesn't surprise me that Kirk's schlepping the godsmack around. He starred in that "Left Behind" series of movies made based upon the series of books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, so he has been brainwashed to a much higher level than the average sheep. . .
Over 20,000,000 copies of that series of books were sold between 1998 and 2001. :spooked:

I didn't see any evidence that it was dubbed. The video omits the "coke can" comparison that was being made, but even if that was included, he's still nuts Hank. To compare a coke can to a banana, in an effort to promote ID, is nuts no matter how you paint it.
He is a nutjob and to think he used to be a teen heart throb gracing the cover of "Tiger Beat" makes me queasy. :puke:

as you put it locutus....."it is absolute shit" and off the f@*kin' chain!"....for those who believe.
But see, therein lies the problem HH. Religion is the absolute vilest of memes. It obscures reality and clouds thought. If we are ever to move forward together for the betterment of humankind, it needs to be cast off entirely. We need more anti-Muhammads and anti-Christs. Religion, and it's bloody history of "My God is better than your God!" mentality has been the biggest impediment to human progress ever, from the early days of science in Baghdad right down through embryonic stem cell research. We need to STOP passing these myths down to future generations as fact, and stop feeding them threats of eternal damnation or baseless promises of an afterlife.
And although I wouldn't believe the first thing that Cameron and his sidekick put out there, this one thing is promising if it is indeed true:
A recent study revealed that in the 50 top universities in the U.S. (in the fields of psychology and biology), an amazing 61 percent of respondents described themselves as atheists or agnostics. It's no wonder atheism has doubled in the last 20 years among 19-25 year olds.

Isn't it convenient that he left out that the same study (http://www.tuftsdaily.com/2.5512/please-forgive-me-professor-for-i-have-sinned-1.592384) found that only 23.4 percent of college professors overall declare themselves atheist or agnostic but then, that would throw a huge monkey wrench into the claim that universities are turning their students into athiests; now wouldn't it?

Exactly. Doesn't suit the agenda.
I do find it quite telling however, that as education (and specifically scientific education) increases, religiosity decreases. The percentage of members of the National Academies (the elite of the elite) that reject the god concept runs upwards of 85%. That shows that religion tends to take advantage of the dumbest among us.

HH, you're treading down that oft trodden path of the "you haven't experienced it" fallacy. You see, I've been there and done that. Early years were spent in the Pentecostal church; later years were spent in the Southern Baptist church. I've done the whole "saved" thing, and been baptized, so I've been there. But there was a disconnect. I engaged my brain. I began to ask questions when prayers went unanswered, and when godly sick people weren't healed. You see, it doesn't make any sense. There aren't any prayers that are answered. It's all delusional.
I then went further and explored the origins of Christianity and its history. I found that Christianity isn't the first one to tell the story of a god-man who gave himself for the poor unwashed masses. There are parallels between Christianity and paganism. The list goes on, and on, and on. So I studied it to it's logical conclusion and found the answer to why there are no answers to prayers, and why godly people die horiffic deaths. There is no god. It's all bullshit.
So the argument that "You haven't experienced it" won't work on me.
And, just like all the others, you have no answer either. ;D
Now would any of you be surprised at the fact that Ray Comfort is also a plagiarist? :rotfl:
I knew he couldn't write that shit on his own and now I have the proof!
Here's the "introduction" supposedly written by the nutjob Ray Comfort. It's in a PDF attached to this post.

I agree HH. The problem is that the ONLY way we're ever going to make progress in enlightenment is if the masses bother to educate themselves and their children, and stop passing fairy tales along from generation to generation. It's a vile meme and it needs to be expunged. But time and again it's been shown that people don't want to be educated for one reason or another. In that case, I guess what Exterminator says rings true. "You can't fix stupid." It would be ok if stupidity along these lines wasn't so damn dangerous.
What I also find interesting is how quickly believers will discount the fairy tales of others (e.g. Mormons, Muslims, Seventh Day Adventists, etc.), but still cling so tightly to their own god myth. "My God is better than your God!" And they fail to see how ridiculous it all is when it's pointed out.

Yeah, I bet if you were riled up enough by your local preacher, you would go out and kill those who don't "believe" like you. In fact, you might even strap on a bomb, or fly a plane into a building to protect those "deeply rooted, spiritually driven and passionate beliefs", wouldn't you?
I can only hope you do realize how that sounds. When you insist that "deeply rooted, spiritually driven and passionate beliefs" are a legitimate form of science or law, then you are a religious nutjob with terrorist potential.
