Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore says there is no proof global warming is caused by humans, but it is likely enough that the world should turn to nuclear power - a concept tied closely to the underground nuclear testing his former environmental group formed to oppose.
The chemistry of the atmosphere is changing, and there is a high-enough risk that "true believers" like Al Gore are right that world economies need to wean themselves off fossil fuels to reduce greenhouse gases, he said.

"It's like buying fire insurance," Moore said. "We all own fire insurance even though there is a low risk we are going to get into an accident."

The only viable solution is to build hundreds of nuclear power plants over the next century, Moore told the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday. There isn't enough potential for wind, solar, hydroelectric, and geothermal or other renewable energy sources, he said.

I don't think anyone can say they have "proof global warming is caused by humans"...

However, it is silly to deny that we humans are contributing to it.

And I think you missed the entire point of your article when you flagged the headline. As a natter of fact, you misrepresented the entire tone of the article when you made up your litle "headline"

The REAL headline........
"Greenpeace founder now backs nuclear power
Patrick Moore tells the Boise chamber that the world must wean itself from fossil fuels to reduce greenhouse gases.

BY ROCKY BARKER - rbarker@idahostatesman.com
Edition Date: 04/24/08"

And a couple more quotes......

Fossil fuels also are a major health threat. "Coal causes the worst health impacts of anything we are doing today," Moore said.

"We don't believe we have been making too much electricity," he said. "We believe we've been making energy with the wrong technologies."

No i didn't at all Bo.........I 100% agree and always have agreed, that humans need to be better stewards of this earth...I think the headlines is important to counter those, like Gore, who have been saying the end is coming because of humans contribution............

and I am 100% in favor of building as many nuclear power plants as we can........they are the purest and most effective way of powering our country.

more proof.................

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science – including 9,021 PhDs, are not "a few." Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not "skeptics."

These scientists are instead convinced that the human-caused global warming hypothesis is without scientific validity and that government action on the basis of this hypothesis would unnecessarily and counterproductively damage both human prosperity and the natural environment of the Earth.

I saw this on another forum and it was asked why the petition contains the names of dead people (Edward Teller, who by the way has no expertise at all in global warming), and several civil engineers, oncologists, and veterinarians ..... and that was from just a quick check of the first few names.

That list is as big a hoax as you claim global warming to be.

7. Are any of the listed signers dead?

In a group of more than 30,000 people, deaths are a frequent occurrence. The Petition Project has no comprehensive method by which it is notified about deaths of signatories. When we do learn of a death, an "*" is placed beside the name of the signatory.

PROVE IT IS A HOAX, BO..........big words!............I have provide a link, and the link explains ALL of the accusations against it........and has provided all it's resources............

the question 7.....explains the "dead people".........and they account for them.......

why do you say it is a hoax?...........because it does not support your cause?..............

Right off the bat....the cover web page shows Edward Teller - but there is no  "*"  beside his name. He died in 2003.

I say it is a hoax because they do not restrict their petition to people with expertise in the filed. As I said, just a quick lookup on the first few names exposes several civil engineers, oncologists, and veterinarians. What does your local vet know about environmental science?

Support my cause? My cause is nothing more than to expose all the disinformation that I can.

There is NO MISINFORMATION...........they do have restrictions and the websites explains their qualifications..........no hoax at all............they lay all the cards out on the table............and are not trying to hide anything...

The current list of 31,072 petition signers includes 9,021 PhD; 6,961 MS; 2,240 MD and DVM; and 12,850 BS or equivalent academic degrees. Most of the MD and DVM signers also have underlying degrees in basic science.

All of the listed signers have formal educations in fields of specialization that suitably qualify them to evaluate the research data related to the petition statement. Many of the signers currently work in climatological, meteorological, atmospheric, environmental, geophysical, astronomical, and biological fields directly involved in the climate change controversy.

The Petition Project classifies petition signers on the basis of their formal academic training, as summarized below. Scientists often pursue specialized fields of endeavor that are different from their formal education, but their underlying training can be applied to any scientific field in which they become interested.

Outlined below are the numbers of Petition Project signatories, subdivided by educational specialties. These have been combined, as indicated, into seven categories.

1. Atmospheric, environmental, and Earth sciences includes 3,697 scientists trained in specialties directly related to the physical environment of the Earth and the past and current phenomena that affect that environment.

2. Computer and mathematical sciences includes 903 scientists trained in computer and mathematical methods. Since the human-caused global warming hypothesis rests entirely upon mathematical computer projections and not upon experimental observations, these sciences are especially important in evaluating this hypothesis.

3. Physics and aerospace sciences include 5,691 scientists trained in the fundamental physical and molecular properties of gases, liquids, and solids, which are essential to understanding the physical properties of the atmosphere and Earth.

4. Chemistry includes 4,796 scientists trained in the molecular interactions and behaviors of the substances of which the atmosphere and Earth are composed.

5. Biology and agriculture includes 2,924 scientists trained in the functional and environmental requirements of living things on the Earth.

6. Medicine includes 3,069 scientists trained in the functional and environmental requirements of human beings on the Earth.

7. Engineering and general science includes 9,992 scientists trained primarily in the many engineering specialties required to maintain modern civilization and the prosperity required for all human actions, including environmental programs.

The following outline gives a more detailed analysis of the signers' educations.

Sorry, Henry, but I didn't take ANYBODY'S word for it. When I first saw the list I decided to look up the actual credentials of some of the people on the list. It didn't take long for me to realize that ANYONE with ANY KIND of degree was on that list.

Here's a question for you. If there are so many dadgum "educated" people who think it's a hoax, why haven't we seen a definitive, scientific study showing it is?

"all in the name of money!" you say. But I ask who stands to lose the most if we were to accept that humans have a role in global warming and stop doing what it is we do to make that the case?
Hint: theyve got billions of dollars and thousands of lobbyists, and want nothing more than to "prove" its all a hoax.
