The thing that is chapping my hide this day is a symptom of the almighty Koporation worship going on within this nation's government.

Each one of you needs to hope that your parents, siblings, or even you yourselves, never have to be admitted to an "elder care facility".

Unless you are independently wealthy, you will be starved, abused, left to sit in your urine and excrement for hours and days, and subjected to mental and physical abuse that in some cases makes the Nazi Concentration camps look like kindergarden.

Pensions; gone. Medicare payments; ass wipe to these places. Your soul; a steaming pile of shit sitting in the middle of the dining room table.

This is criminal.

Death Panels? They're not coming! They've been around this nation for decades before the ACA. They're senior care facilities!

I thought I would try to get dad away from where he was living (not good) and into a good nursing home.     He said, NO in a big way,  He said, "That's where they send you to die.   :'( I really think he got that one right.    :smitten:

This is exactly why I (and my brother and sister) worked as hard as we did to accommodate my Dad a few years ago setting him up near my sister, where she and myself was able to assist him as much as possible.  Also as to why I pushed so hard to make the decision to allow him go peacefully with hospice....instead of making him well enough to be miserable for several more weeks or months.

The last place I wanted to ever see him was in a nursing home.........things worked out so we did not have to face what you just described.  That is HORRIBLE.  I feel for anyone who has to go through such a thing.

Some options/facilities are better than others.  St. Luke's Hospital in Bluefield, WV was morphed into a facility for elders and/or people who did not need (as far as I know) end of life care. I'm sure it was/is expensive -- don't know if it is still open, but do have knowledge of four people who lived there.

One was a man who was a former Bluefield postmaster. He moved there after he broke his hip and could not care for himself. His wife had died earlier. I got to know him through his little bookstore on Bluefield-Princeton Road. I visited him there once, had lunch with him in the dining room. He seemed alert and well adjusted and chose to sell his house and stay there -- which he did until he passed away.

The second person was a woman whose family I had known for many years. Her daughter took her there under protest because she was incontinent and angry and perhaps suffering from dementia. From what I heard via the grapevine, she was called "the screamer" by other residents there. That was so sad because when I was growing up  I knew her as a quiet nice lady.

The third person was the mother of someone I knew from high school days. Some time after her mom was admitted, daughter decided to join her there even though she was not old and could, I assume, still take care of herself. I always felt a little sorry for her because she was very overweight and never married.

The city of Chicago sigh a contract with a company in China for $1,300,000,000,  $1.3 Billion to build railroad cars for it's rail system.  WTF, using taxpayer money to buy foreign, Chinese rail cars for an American City.  WTF

How exactly would Trump prevent something like this from happening?

Don't worry people. Donald Trump is going to fix everything.  After all, he'll have Chris Christie covering his back, and the sainted Dr. Ben Carson to keep him on good terms with his buddy Jesus when he is sworn in as King uh, President of the United States and moves into the White House.  :spooked:
