First of all.....it's NONE of your business WHAT anyone leaves on their table at a restaurant. Secondly, the public is NOT obligated to leave a tip for anyone.  There is a reason that it's called a gratuity.  It shows gratitude for the service received.  Everyone must eat, whether they are going to the grocery store to buy food, or going to a restaurant.  Most people do their best to budget for meals.  No one needs to budget to pay someone a wage who is not their employee.  Servers are not the employee's of the public, they are not contract workers, they are hired and paid by the eating establishment.   Thirdly, you have no idea what the circumstance were for those three white hairs.  For all you know, the one that shared the bible verse was not the one walking around with money in her purse.  Not the person paying for the meal.   Or she may have budgeted for a once a month meal out and is on a fixed income that makes tipping difficult, especially if she may be paying a copay on her old people's meds that so many are on.  You just don't know, and it's not your place to make a judgment. 

When you looked up the servers wage, did you also read that if a server is not averaging normal minimum wage for the hours worked, that the employer has to make up the difference on his/her paychecks?  If that is not happening, THEN the server has been stiffed.  But I can tell you from personal experience and over 30 years of working in and out of the food and beverage business that most servers will average during their working week MORE than the regular minimum wage.  Most servers work about 4 hours a shift.  If they walk out with a minimum of $35 in tips, they've made minimum wage.  That's 8.75 + 2.13 = 10.88.  You should worry about how much gratitude you feel at the end of the meal and not what others feel.  It's not a competition and it doesn't make anyone a worse person for not leaving a tip. 

Servers know how to handle repeat customers who are stingy.  They also understand the economy, they are living in it too.   By the way, did you double your tip that night to make up for what the ladies didn't leave, if you had the same waitress?  And if not, did you stop her and give her a little something because you felt bad that she got stiffed?   Or are you one of those people that just likes to point out what you think others do wrong (or that don't meet your expectations) but do nothing about it?  Better yet, are you one of those people that feels NO ONE should tell you how to spend your own money?   If you are....shut the hell up about what those white hairs didn't spend.  Like I said in the beginning, what someone else leaves on their table is none of your business.

    My dear Pari Ann, you sure talk out of both sides of your mouth.  One minute you tell this old blathering 72 year old man that he an idiot because he thinks stiffing a waitress out of a tip with a piece of cardboard is stupid and he should mind his own business.  Mind you I didn't say a word to the old fat broads and nothing to the young girl.  I just think it is cruel, cheap and selfish.

   Next you tell me that working for $10.88 per hour is what she makes, not so.  She is making $6.75 a hour and a cardboard per hour and how great a wage that is.  I just don't understand you thinking, when you say, that if you really work really good and really hard and have a sunshine personality you will get tips, tips, they don't come with the job.  With three old fat, white hair broads they probably think paying Steak and Shake for their bill and giving the waitress a piece of cardboard is more than enough.

   Then out of you the other side of your mouth, how poor you are.  How your dead beat ex-husband isn't paying support,  take the lazy no good sonuvabitch to court and put his lazy ass in jail.  I'm a taxpayer here in Madison, go get some help from the county and put the lazy dumbass in jail.  I won't mind paying tax to keep him there.   You know, I could be like Bill Orally on Fox News and tell you to get off your lazy ass and find yourself a job because the country and your neighbors aren't your keepers.  I know about how hard it is to find a job.  My son loss his last year for 4 months and he's lucky, I was there to make his house payments and pay for some food and gasoline while he found a job.  There are some people who doen't seem to get the breaks.  Bill of Fox would tell you, that you make your own breaks.  What a fine man and he a millionaire.

   Now let's talk about working hard, sweet heart you don't know what hard work is.  Get you ass up into the steel 50 feet in the air, working with 10 inch heavy duty steam pipe, working off of kicker boards, ladders and chain falls. (you don't even know what I talking about kickboards and chain falls do you) and it's 110 degrees up next to the ceiling.  Or down into a coal lift about 30 feet in the ground, fixing a burnt up sump pump under a foot of coal dust or going into a 8 stall restroom where all 8 toilets are stopped up and the dumbasses still use them, over flowing the toilets covering the floor with a couple inches water and shit.  You really don't know what fun is.

   Now about how smart I am compaired to a computer.  You can leave a letter out of a word and I still can read it.  But Missy Smart Mouth, take your computer to the next stopped up toilet you have or fix a leak of go do some industrial pipefitting, I think I can beat your F*#king computer.  There seems to be one thing you haven't got over.  When we first meet and I joking called you a high maintanice blond,  I guess your to sensitive to understand a joke.  I've spend to much time trying to explain some thing to some person who just doesn't just get it.  Enough said.  Have a nice day.

You know how much the waitress made per hour that night?  Without saying anything to anyone? You're psychic too, huh?  Do some calculations, tips plus pay and number of hours worked.  If she's only making 6.75 per hour, I reckon she needs to find another job.

Both the federal and Indiana state minimum wage will increase from $6.55 per hour to $7.25 per hour, effective

As for my situation in life, you don't have the facts....so don't suggest to me what I should do.  I really don't care how you feel about people who get help, if you did or didn't approve would not effect my decisions one way or another.

And don't equate nasty hot dirty work with 'real work' or 'working hard'.  Anyone that puts their all into a job is working hard.  Whether it's using their mind or physical labor.  Why don't you read what I write and then pick and choose what you want to understand out of it instead of the whole. Oh wait, you already do. Obviously.

And when you come to a forum and express YOUR opinion, vent, or whatever, don't expect everyone to shut up when they don't agree with you.  That's why it's an opinion forum.  If we have something to say, we'll say it, and since you don't care whose tenders you may hurt....don't expect anyone to be anything but blunt right back at you.
