It was a good one and went off without a hitch.  They had ordered 150 T-shirts and ran out, they were given to the riders and their passengers.  Others had ordered them too but mainly it was riders.  I don't remember how many more orders were taken for more T-shirts at the event but there were quite a few.  Enough pulled pork was donated for 100 people and using an ice cream scoop pr sandwich we ran out in about 1/2hr plus went through 2 huge pots of chili and 2 large boxed of chips that had also been donated.  Thank goodness it slowed down after that and we had enough chili, hot dogs, (also donated), chips, and desserts to make it the rest of the day.   The newspaper had said they were going to come and do a write up but I don't know if anyone ever showed up or not because I was busy helping serve food and then doing some other things and there were tons of people everywhere.....Sure was a plus that the weather was nice and we could use their outdoor area for the food and some of the people.  They have a nice little patio area with tables and a little fire pit which some people lit towards evening and was still going when I left at 12:30pm.  None of us expected the turn out that was there including the owners who tended bar all day and a friend of theirs who they had enlisted at 6:00am to help.  Lisa, the bar owner, had gotten there at 7:00am to fix biscuits and gravy for the riders and her husband and the friend sat up the awnings and tables in the outside area so that would be ready.  The couple who had organized the ride got there about 8:00am and did the signups that hadn't pre registered and tied the ribbons on the bikes who were in the ride and gave out them their T-shirts.  The ride went off without a hitch and took the couple who organized it had it timed on the nose pretty much so those of us who needed to get the food ready were able to be prepared when they got back.  If I ever don
another one of these benefits I hope it's as well organized as this one was.  Even the bands were on time and the guy who provided the sound system was on time and set up and ready when the bands started and did a great job.

That benefit ride that "me" was telling us about yesterday must have been a good one. I bet I saw two or three groups of 50+ motorcycles go by my place on their way to that event yesterday. Had I not had a family event I would have loved to have joined in.

Not a single word about it from the local news coverage that I saw. It would have been nice to have read an article on it or at least seen some pictures. . . But no. . . they'd rather spew about the local bullshit elections and bitch about the sad state of our park system. . .

Troll, you don't know me, so don't pretend you do.

I'm not going to bother to correct you, because you're a waste of time.

I was going to say, "Let's not waste anymore of our valuable time replying to Mr. Inadequacy," but then I realized I won't have anymore entries into the Laughably Brainless contest if I don't provoke him.

His "PEDA (sic) / caveman" post is currently leading this week's voting. Would ya like the website, Sandy? You could probably garner some votes out of that "gated-community / nobody-had-it-as-hard-as-I-did" diatribe. It made me chuckle, anyway.

Good deal! I was hoping that would be the case, and I really hope that the families the event was held for got the much needed hand up in funding that they needed! I really think it is events like this that truly demonstrate what is best about humanity, and specifically the biker lifestyle. These men and women will step to the plate for anyone truly deserving of a hand up, and do so without hesitation.

Thanks for the update and summary "me". I really appreciate it very much.

Yet another prime opportunity to get an excellent human interest story out there to lift the spirits of the population, upstaged by bullshit political propaganda and mud-slinging. And no surprise that the local rag looked the other way, along with the rest of the media. Jackwagons the lot of them!

Hell, I would have thought at least one of those political hyenas would have horned their ass into the event for the publicity. But I guess when the local rag is leading the herd of sheeple about by the short hairs, they don't need it. . .

I forgot to mention the guy who did the tattoo's was busy all day, I think he took one break, and donated half of what he made to the family.   He still had 4 more to do when I left.  I don't remember who it was though but he had a local tattoo parlor and does a great job.  Some people brought drawings of what they wanted and others were picking from designs he had available on his laptop.

Yes PH, those bikers were a great bunch of people and anyone who thinks they are all rough and are afraid to be around them should have been there yesterday because even after they got drunk they were still well behaved and helpful.  I realize they have their moments but this was a great bunch yesterday.  :smitten:

No doubt about it. I've always found the biker lifestyle and people to be among the best and most accepting of others around. Yeah sure, there are societal rejects amongst them but show me a group that doesn't have such people! For the most part it is about the ride, life, and doing the right things along the way.

I've had the term hurled at me as if it were some kind of insult, but I've never taken it that way. You call me a biker I feel honored to be consider such. They're great folks and you can count on them when you need them.

You're the one that bragged about what a great big tough guy you and your sidekicks are for killing innocent animals. There's not much that someone can take from that other than none of you are very smart. I just called it like I saw it and obviously I struck a nerve. No where did I say that I'm better than you, but I'd venture to say that I have a more compassion and a higher regard for life than you do.

You hit that right of the head.  You did hit a nerve.  Showing how stupid a person can be about these poor innocent animals.  Since you are so mentally deranged about these problem dogs.  I let you worry about the dog on your side of the country and I will solve my problems with them here in Indiana.

The only thing I can offer is that your get a surrounded by barking, mean dogs and their owners could care less about what you think.  I would be so much fun to watch.  :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Indiana State Police  report in Anderson HB.

Just think with all of the deer strikes there are here in Indiana.  The great state police  issued a statement that it stated that if you hit a deer no matter what time of the day or night.  No.1, you are to stay with the car.  Two, call the cops and have them to come to the scene and make an accident report.  Do not touch the deer, it might come back to life and hurt  you.  What do you do if you don't have a cell phone.  But here is the good stuff.

When the officer gets there, you can ask for a "PERMIT" and you can pull the deer out of your grill and engine compartment and you can get to keep what is left of the deer.  Wow.  There's going to venison tonight.  No permit and you can't keep the deer.

What happen if you hit a deer and don't get an accident report.  Can you be convicted of leaving the scene of an fatal accident?  The state police said that you have to have a police report of the deer hit to get you insurance company to fix you car.  What if you only have PL and PD. and an old car and you're poor and hungry.  Oh that's right  you have to get a permit to keep the deer.

I knew a guy who live about 60 miles South of work.  And he worked midnights.  When he came to work at 11:30 P.M. he would make a list of the killed deer or not.  When he went home, he knew what a new kill was.  He had his garage set up to dress and cut the road kill.  He told me he had two freezer full of venison and never bought meat for the family to eat.  They all love venison.

Isn't the law great.  After a free deer totals your $20,000 car, if you get a permit, you can keep the deer.  What left of it.  Wow!  How blessed we are.  So would somebody say Amen!

A few years back my ex-sister-in-law hit a deer on the way home from work, got out and put it in the trunk of her car and went home and she and her son dressed it down in her garage and filled the freezer with some really good deer meat.  She wasn't much bigger than a minute at the time, about 5ft 3in and 130lbs,  but was determined to get that deer into her trunk and by golly she did it....LOL   We got one about 20yrs ago a friend hit and he called and we went and got it and my daughter and son-in-law helped us dress it down.  I had some summer sausage made from some of the meat as well as some deerburgers.  Goooood eatin' for sure.

I hit one the year before last in Daleville, on my way home from work. Cops asked me if I wanted it or if I cared if he gave it to the local food bank. I did not take it as at the time I felt if it would go to a needy family so much the better. . .

Henry, I never seen someone who could talk out of his ass so stupidly.  You are always crying about taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes.  Yet you think it all right for the state cops to collect a tax on the damn deer that damaged your car.  Man you as crazy as a march hare.   My God what a dumbass.  :blah: :blah: :blah:  :suck: :suck:  :suck:

I've never hit a deer, but I did hit a Great Egret one time and it made a hell of a mess on the windshield.    You probably couldn't eat that guy though.  ;D

Most places send the meat out to make summer sausage. Even if they do make it there they put your meet in a tub mixed with other folks' deer and divide the finished product by the weight each person contributed. I don't like that concept myself. You don't know how long the other peoples' deer hung or how the meat was treated. Here's my complaint. One year a guy I know went bow hunting and shot a big buck but didn't kill it. Then he finally put it down later in gun season. The front shoulder was infected and still had part of the arrow in it. I heard him bragging of how he had it all made up into summer sausage. You know that the infection in the blood carried it throughout the entire deer. Anyway, ever since that day I heard him talking, if I know the summer sausage came from that same place, it doesn't taste good to me. I know it may be in my mind but still. My neighbor grinds his own deer up and makes his own sausage. He has a friend who bought a small walk in cooler and they share expenses and several guys use it during deer season. I always graciously accept his summer sausage when he gives me a stick every year.
What the Hell is a signature? Am I supposed to type something in this box? I guess I'll find out.
