I found that someone stole my 1972 Dodge truck today. I bought it as a one owner truck several years ago and it still has less than 75,000 original miles on it. I think it has probably already been parted out and scrapped. I loved that old truck.

Sorry to hear that Brent.  They used to hang horse thieves, and car thieves should be no different.

How much shit can life deal to a young child?!

My granddaughter has lost TWO very close friends within the last 3 weeks. One (her best friend) hung herself and the other was just killed a little bit ago in a motorcycle wreck.

Isn't it bad enough that society is forcing our children to grow up faster, without life bitch slapping them with adult experiences at such an early age?

I was recently thinking this very thing. Brent recently lost a nephew from his first marriage.  He wasn't a kid any longer but he was still young in my book.   This boy happened to at one time be a boyfriend to 29 (my oldest girl) and is just one of many deaths I've seen in the last 14 years of my children's friends.  I have been checking around and my girls have lost more friends in this short time to accidents, over doses, and suicides than I have lost in 48 years of life.  It's just freaking crazy!!
Looks like I've come full circle.

Consequences of societal pressure to achieve more at an early age? Children today are subjected to so much more pressure at a much earlier age than we were as children; and along with it comes the "adult" experiences at an increasingly earlier age.
Its no wonder that we are seeing untimely deaths as a direct result of it. Children are no longer allowed to be children for very long. . .

PH,  life can be a real bitch,  yesterday, we receive a phone call from a doctor at Ball Memorial in Muncie.  We knew my wife's brother had fallen.  He had been having a real bad time for the last year from a donated kidney that was rejected.  He had been going through dialysis three times a week.  He looked like hell after each one.

Well, he had a broken femur, but what the real bad news was, he was bleeding on both sides of his brain.  Even tho they could save his life, he would not be himself and most likely spend the rest of his days in a nurse home.  He is 68 years old.

My wife who has his power of attorney and had his "LIVING WILL"  No resuscitation and no tubes.  She told the doctor to follow his wishes.  The doctor said, "we will keep him comfortable."  It really broke her heart.

He was just like me, NO NURSING HOMES!   So you people out there, who havn't got your LIVING WILLS, better get with it.  Things can go bad so quick.
