I was nearly killed this morning on the DC beltway!  :mad:

As I was coming around the beltway over near Andrews AFB, Air Force One came over the road at treetop level (Yes, dammit, I know it isn't Air Force One unless the POTUS is on board) Now that is not an uncommon occurrence, but it still is a bit of a heart-stopper.

Anyway, out of the corner of my eye I noticed that the car to my left was drifting quickly into my lane. I had to take a hard right turn to keep from getting creamed. It's a good the traffic was relatively light because I had to swerve across the two lanes to my right, all the while leaning on the horn.

What I saw still makes my blood boil. Some stupid young blond had a cell phone to her ear with one hand and a camera to the windshield with the other.

Bo, you should have gotten her plate number, turned her in as a suspected terrorist who you witnessed taking pics of that plane as part of a plot.  By the time they would have finished with her full body cavity search, she never would even drive that way again. :eek:

And in today's world, it is an "idea" that unfortunately isn't that far fetched! Perhaps this individual was collecting photographs of the landing gear in order to facilitate some evil initiative undertaken by a sleeper cell? Who knows!

I guess as long as the aircraft doesn't have an incident, it was just some dumb bimbo "multi-tasking" when she should have been driving!

Ive been trying to adopt a damned dog. Im not even sure why.
Maybe because my paternal clock is ticking and, without a womb handy, that seems a long shot.

Anyway, Ive applied now to get two dogs from various rescues and programs. And been denied both times!! Well, not denied, but not chosen.
What kinda person cant even adopt a dog!

How many you want?  I'll ship them to ya or meet you half way!!!

No, seriously--I'm a volunteer with the East Miss. Animal Rescue Mission and the only way we will deny an adoption is if you won't pay the monies to have the pet vaccinated and spayed/neutered.  Or if you look like a person who is into animal sacrifice or something worse.   :eek:

What type of dog are you trying to adopt?

Wow, maybe it's similar to the way it is here. There may be several families looking at one dog. They have you interact w/the animal and take notes, you fill out an application and if anyone else wants the dog, you may have to schedule another time to meet w/the dog and the other adoptees to see which family seems to interact better w/the pet.

My advice? Craig's list or the paper. I understand why they go to the lengths they do and because I'm an animal lover, I'm happy to see that the animals are being protected, but I think the process can be extremely frustrating. Sometimes you can find people giving away wonderful pets because they're moving or their circumstances have changed....or whatever. It's the last stop before the shelter.
