The Bar Fight

[Flight 33]

I'm in a bar, with strobe lights and a band playing.  My head laying on the table.  The sound of the band on stage is fading in and out.  Too many beers I guess.  My head seems to be happy where it's at.  Maybe a short nap before the next bar.   I nod off for a few minutes at a time and then awake again to the band still playing their version of 'Black is Black'  by Los Bravos.  It kinda makes me home sick. 
Oh yeah, it seems I'm in the Phillipines in a city called Olongapo.  The year is 1969.
Across the table that's full of San Miguel beer bottles, full and empty.  Sits my pal Jose.  Who can hold his liquor a lot better than me.  Why, he's got a bar girl hostess on his lap!  And he's drunker than me! 
S**t!  Why should he have all the fun!  I raise my head, to my buddy's cheers, and order two more beers with two shots of rum!  I'll show 'em!
Jose says we'll go smoke a joint downstairs in the alley then come back up and party.  The band is good and we can dance.  The Phillipino hostess girls are young and  pretty and like to dance to american rock n' roll.  As long as we buy them drinks.  Shoot, at the equivalant of 75 cents american money, why not!?
We smoke our joint and trip back up to the bar.  How freakin' wonderful.  We're young, high, drunk and in a party city in the far Pacific.  We dance and drink with our girl friends.   We're happy.
During the bands break we're talking and snuggeling with our girl friends.  A couple comes up the stairs from the street entrance and it's an american guy who is with his Philippino girl friend from another bar.  They are both drunk, like us. 
Well his girl friend is spotted by another girlfriend of his.  Words are exchanged.  Someone throws a beer bottle.  The fight is on.
Ok, like check it out, a fight which seems to be spreading, is right in front of our table.   
My pal and I beat a hasty retreat over the nearby stairrail and haul ass downstairs.  The girls stay under the table cause they work there.  As we're going downstairs the local police are coming up with billy clubs wielding. 
Well, me and my pal are safely on the street  when I realized that I left my zippo  on the table.  I gotta have that zippo.  I run back upstairs to the club and see it's in chaos.  With the local police involved in the bar fight. 
Our table was right near the stair rail so I  just reached over and grabed it.  On the way back down the steps I met more local cops coming up.  I just pointed them up to the trouble, and they ran up to it. 
It's kinda funny but me and my pal went into the bar right next door, and ordered two beers.  Two bar hostesses approched us.  I asked one of them if the band knew any Jimmi Hendrix songs.  She said "Yes"
