The unemployment rate fell to an 18-year low in May and employers steadily added jobs, signs of enduring strength for the labor market.

U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose a seasonally adjusted 223,000 in May, the Labor Department said Friday. The unemployment rate ticked down to 3.8%, matching April 2000 as the lowest reading since 1969.

Wages in May improved modestly, growing 2.7% from a year earlier.

Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected 190,000 new jobs and a 3.9% unemployment rate.

Raise in wages?  :haha:  The people making minimum wage hasn't got a raise in years and years and years, Bunky Hawk.

The POTUS doesn't set the minimum wage.

That's right and you just like me knows that the Republican controlled House in DC could fix that.     "ME" just like the Hawk doesn't know shit.  :haha:

Trump is the head of the Republican Party and he could "order" the House Republicans to raise the minimum wage.

The government has no business sticking their noses into private businesses. If you owned a business would you want the government telling you how much you had to pay your help?

No? Then why is the POTUS trying to force every player in the NFL to stand for the National Anthem? Why did he cancel the visit of the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles? Because a number of them declined? Why shouldn't they? Why is he trying to violate these players constitutional right to peacefully protest?

This isn't a monarchy, no matter how much the man with a cat for a hat wishes it to be. He doesn't command any of us, outside of those contractually obligated via service in the US Military. That asshole works for us. . . or is supposed to. But he thinks he's King!

As far as the lifestyle, yes, because I don't have to have the newest car, the most expensive house, the latest gadgets, or a credit card to exist. Those who respect the flag are wanting the players to stand and that has nothing to do with Trump. He, Trump, didn't make the NFL enact those rules the people who were boycotting the NFL games did because they were losing money.

The old Red head "ME"   :gorgeous: says she could live on minimum wage quite well.  :haha:  What is she living on now.  Why it's Social Security, Medicare and probably some savings when she was making over the minimum wage.

She's just a blabber mouth Republican  :hogslop:  who wants to live high off the backs of the under paid  workers.   She can just kiss  my butt.   :mooning:

You live on $10/hr?  I don't have a new car or car payment, live in an apartment, don't have the latest gadgets.  I make under $12/hr and without the spousal support I get I wouldn't live in the apartment I have.  You must live in some sort of shithole if you can exist on $10/hr.  I don't even live where the cost of living is high.  According to https://www.myfirstapartment.com/2016/07/how-much-rent-can-i-afford-on-my-hourly-pay/  someone making $10/hr and working 40 hours a week can afford $500 rent.  The only places around here for that cheap are areas that are not preferred to live in.  Even Marco Rubio knows this: "Because even the jobs that are being created now don't pay enough. You can't live off $10 an hour. You can't live on $11 an hour,"

Ugh!  Respecting the flag crap.  Do you stand for the national anthem at home?  If you're out at a game and are getting a hot dog, do you stop turn to the flag while being served? If you're using the toilet, do you get up when you hear the song?  The hypocrisy of this issue is astounding.  Let alone, displaying the flag on the field like they do is against the flag code! Talk about disrespect! Obviously you have no idea why the players were kneeling in protest; it was never about the flag.  And we should be glad we live in a country where we are NOT FORCED to stand.  When we are forced we have no freedom.

Trump didn't make the NFL enact the rules,  but he certainly influenced it.

I never made over minimum wage and, yes, I do live on SS with Medicare plus I pay extra for dental and eye coverage. I don't have credit cards or get loans for things I want, I save up and pay cash. How is that living high off the backs of under paid workers?

I do not live in a shit hole as you so rudely put it. I live in a nice house in a good neighborhood and pay extra on the mortgage each month so it will be paid off early. If you're in a minimum wage job you must be unskilled labor or not ambitious enough to climb the ladder so to speak. I take it you live in Fl. I have a friend who lives in Bradenton and did quite well at just above minimum wage, she is retired now though and still doing well.

"ME" are you telling me that you wouldn't like for the government to step in and have made the people who lived off your back and paid you a decent wage.

wouldn't it have been nice if you would have made $15 to $20 an hour like I did with my skilled trades job. :huh1:    If you say you would not, I'd say you're an another Republican liar.  :liar2: :repub:

You pay extra on the mortgage and only make $10/hr???  There's no way anyone without help from another financial source (SS, retirement, pension, roommate, etc) can live on $10/hr and pay extra on their mortgage.  There's no way someone lives in Bradenton and did quite well at just above minimum wage.  Minimum wage is $7.25.  There's no way anyone can live off of minimum wage unless they have income from another source.

I'm not in a minimum wage job, I have job skills, and I am ambitious, but since I stayed home for 18 years raising my daughter, I need to build up experience to get the next higher paying job.  Why do you think I live in Florida and what other misconceptions do you have of me? You already implied I'm not ambitious.

Unskilled labor does not deserve the same wages as skilled labor. I'm not jealous of business owners who happen to be better off than me because a lot of them started at the bottom and worked their way up so they deserve the money they make. Personally I wouldn't want the headache of being a business owner small or large. You might say I don't have an overinflated opinion of my worth and never did. That's not saying I feel like I'm not worth anything that's saying the pay should match the skill and flipping hamburgers is a level entry job and not worthy of $15 pr hour. If you want more money get into management if you have the knowledge or can be trained to do so.

Actually my SS check is a little less than a 40hr check at $10 pr hour would be but I manage quite well. Like I told Troll, minimum wage jobs are entry level jobs and most places pay more than that now anyway. I am so sick of people who think the world owes them just because they think they're special. Not saying you think that but there are certainly a lot of them out there who do and they are growing in number.
